Hi Moray. There's no Biblical evidence the moneychangers short-changed anyone. If an unwitting owner gave the money-changers coins with copper or silver mixed with the gold, they gave the owner back the equivalent WEIGHT of gold. Often ten alloyed coins only had enough gold to make six pure coins, so that's what the owner was given (minus an agreed fee of course). All perfectly fair and above board. The authorities could determine the amount of gold in any gold alloy by using ARCHIMEDES "specific gravity" method, known about since 285 BCE. No-one had a clue about science in Jesus' day, so they all thought they were being swindled by the moneychangers. They weren't, it was dishonest coppersmiths in the provinces swindling everybody by inflating the currency. During WW2 the Germans had a plan to destroy Britain's economy by bombing them with hundreds of millions of perfectly forged British pounds. Same thing. Cheers, P.R.

That's exactly right because God's temple is never made to be someone else's greedy marketplace or for religious bullies to be a show off like the Pharisees had done. Even in such societies, however, there are still instances where law enforcement or ordinary citizens may tragically have to use lethal force, if it is the only available way to stop a dangerous person in the immediate act. Likewise, police may sometimes be justified in using tear gas to disperse a hostile unyielding crowd, or subduing a criminal by physically wrestling them to the ground or even using a taser. But it would be unnecessary violence and arguably inhumane torture, if someone was forced to receive a continuous spray of tear gas in their eyes or tasering as a judicial punishment. With that in mind, I do believe Jesus would want us to minimize violence when addressing acts of wrongdoing. I even believe he would consider corporal punishment on criminals/youth to be a method, which falls short of how he wants us to behave in a more ideal society/household, even if it was more acceptable by the Old Testament’s lower demands/standards. But due to this distinction in contexts, I can still easily picture Jesus cracking a makeshift whip to help shoo away a crowd of merchants and moneychangers, who were trespassing an area they didn’t belong in and refusing to leave.

This is righteous anger because people were making a market in his father’s house.

How do I make Jesus happy when he is mad
Hi there, can ask if you're asking this with a reason?
@@ThelifeofJesus yeah plz
Hi. As long as you've done nothing to upset him it's not your business to make him happy if he's mad at someone else. If you have made him mad, I'd suggest repentance would do the trick, provided it was honest repentance. "There's more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents, than 99 who need NO repentance". (Luke 15:7). Cheers, P.R.

imagine strangers in your father's house doing business and just using your home as a profit yet I would do the same
