From my experience, brute forcing when outnumbered and relying on right clicking enemies to target them doesn’t work very well, using manual control to fire at the enemy and draw your squad’s attention usually works better for me (except for the indoors because of the camera glitchiness)

The Empire does conduct anti-slave operations, but mostly against slavers who traffic human slaves. Human slavery is explicitly illegal in Imperial law, so when they find out someone is doing it, they tend to take it seriously.
