And B: After the disappointing box office returns of The Lego Movie 2, Lego left Warner Bros. I’m especially interested in the ninja evolution concept. Kai becoming a magma monster makes total thematic sense considering how arrogant he acted at the beginning of Skybound.

Totally agree with this, it gives off an idea of "Hey, there's actual stakes, actual consequences for these ninja to experience and overcome/adapt to" Eyepatch Jay and ghost Cole were pretty cool figures after all

When I first learned of the original plot for the movie, I was nearly heartbroken. They scrapped the potential greatest ninjago story ever told for a cat.
What about the original ending to season 2? Tommy Anderson tweeted at one point that before the show was supposed to be canceled at 2, the original ending would've showed a purified Garmadon walking off with Lloyd and Misako, then panned to Wu, and showed the Overlord begin to manifest within him.
honestly I think a ninjago spinoff just for Morro would be sick. I'm thinking a slow revival of him in the reformed cursed realm, and his eventual escape by chance. I think flashbacks to his life between him leaving wu and his eventual death to develop the character more, while in the current time period Morro has found out that sensei Wu is missing and presumed dead (this would take place between seasons 7 and 8). Morro isn't ready to give up on Sensei Wu yet, and thus continues searching with the help of Lloyd. Ideally, they reach a dead end after encountering minor villains from wu's past and eventually Morro lays down a staff passed from Wu to him on the burned remains of the monastery
About Jay's Mom, Well in my opinion Prime empire was half Lloyd's and half Jay's,Maybe Jay had a little more spotlight but I loved it that way. If season 12 was made the other way however, Lloyd's part would have been the cyber Harumi if they wanted to keep it that way.
This video is incredibly well made and researched nice job. Im also a huge fan of attack on titan and was super hyped when you said Ninjago took some inspiration
they should done prime empire season with jay's mother in it! then we could got better story and also actual figure of jays mother and possibly more info on his real dad.
i would love to see a spin off focusing on pixal were she is on her own helping people all across ninjago and slowly making her own samurai team for the season finally. there wouldn't have to be many sets it could be like season 14 were there are only 3/4 sets each wave but they all sum up the plot and have important vehicles and places. it could explore places like metalonia and more of shintaro and even bring back jamonicai village. the mane villain could be revealed to be cammeal at the end
Man, Bionicle really did scarred Lego storywise... So many cool plotpoints scrapped because writers were too afraid of making story too complex. Which wouldn't hurt in my opinion, since it's Bionicle story that was extremely complex. Ninjago is nowhere near as complex, which is not a bad thing, but would help it a bit.
Yeah, they're going in completely opposite direction, which is pretty dumb. Bionicle were too complex and complicated, but Ninjago barely ever references anything. Thanks to that you can start from almost any season and get what's going on, but... It almost feel cheep that both characters and overall plot gets soft reseted after each season.
I never was a fan of the Echo Zane is Mr. E. Concept. Echo was such as sweet and loving character, him turning into an assassin hellbent on killing his brother always seemed odd to me.
Probably because he was abandoned at the lighthouse/prison, the only person he ever knew, Dr. Julien (I'm ignoring the events of S6 for a obvious reason), chose Zane over him. Not to mention Dr. Julien is dead, and they never mention it in front of him in S6, so we've technically never seen Echo Zane in a Emotionally broken state
Honestly, I feel like the original pitch for that “Ninjago spin-off” would have been a great idea. It could still work in the form of a season, or even a mini season, featuring the female cast of the show and exploring characters like Borg and Ronin. I still understand why it wouldn’t work out…but now I kinda want it to happen, ngl
The Skulkin at 2:29? AMAIZING I AM SO ANGRY THOSE WERENT USED! Garmadon is alot more threatening as he wears bone armor which would imply he killed Skulkin and used them as armor which is ya know, BADASS!... The cape is a bit of a miss tho... I love the matching purple colors through out the Skulkin and it gives them more of a pressence... the slime from Samukais mouth and some of the more gore-ish detail are a bit too much tho. Masks at 2:51 are really cool too, look like the Forbidden spinjitzu masks + Morro cowl which i would want to see in the future 3:08 Another absolutly amaizing outfit(s)... although i would prefer them in green (Jade princess and all that) it also seems like Harumi would fight (without the mask of hate) which i would love to see too (Perhaps to show that she trained in combat to surpass the ninja) 3:13 thats basically the Temple of Ressurection set 3:16 I am glad those werent used, the Dragon hunters we got are alot more cooler and refined. 3:26 HARD AGREE! We get 3 dragons from the wave all about dragons (in the show we get like 6, 2 of them sharing a design and another 2 which appear so little they might have been just slightly changed version of the same design too) I would love to see those dragons, they are so unique and amaizing! They blend lego and not lego and showcases so many unique designs and ideas that are so amaizing to look at. (Some of them remind me of Hero factory monsters) They also have so much personality in the faces and body designs to the point that i can imagine them being real creatures. 3:34 should have been in the show They talk about how using dragons is their lifestyle... we see 1 dragon used in an arena once, 1 dragon used for fire and supposedly wind dragon was suppose to be eaten but we see only 1 real dragon hunt and it just doesnt convince me they use dragons :/ 3:41 Zane using a bow thanks to a piece that seems like the S12 controller... YES PLEASE! Ninja started using new weapons since S8... then Zane forgot and now either uses shurikens or nothing... But i do prefer the more... not as mechanicaly inclined Ice Samurais and the Elemental masters would be a bit too much (Ronin would be fine) Kai in the background splits a samurai in half which is a bit terrifiying and REALLY COOL! 3:44 Looks kinda cool, the long horn helmet on the samurai is ridiculous and amaizing 5:44 Sounds cool, i think i would like to have a comic run or a mini series exploring other elemental masters I dislike all of number 8... by dislike i mean ending the show that way would feel weird and sorta seems just... unnatural? It seems like it skips alot of stuff that would make it just too abrupt I dislike S12, by the matter i think its one of the most insulting seasons of the show because it just shows whats wrong with the ninjago season structure and the new ninjago episode count and length of episodes but if the concept of Number 7 stayed, i would deffinitely love it alot more as it would atleast have some impact on... anyone really (seriously, skipping the season changes only 1 scene/gag in S13) Amber Legacy and Mr. Echo - eh, nothing really that important was lost Oni Titan - Season 10 should have been longer to flash out the oni in general but i am not opposed to the muscle titans. Pilot Time Travel + Space adventures - glad it was scrapped... On the topic of S3... it got really screwed over :( It needed alot more time to flesh out its story because as of now, S3 is a big ninjago MEH Ninjago Movie was alright, concept sounds cooler Not opposed to spin offs or chatacters changing
Thanks for the detailed comments and agreed on a lot of these, the biggest problem to me was really S10 failing to provide a good conclusion to the trilogy - after all, the Oni never shapeshifted once, which was a major part of their concept. So many missed opportunities...

Same here, that’s by far the biggest improvement to me. A lot of the show changes are “nice to haves” but I’m generally happy with how the show turned out regardless - the movie is the big one
Imagine this.. Jay uses time travelling Tea to travel to the future to see if Nya returns to her human form. He arrives 20 Years in the future to find that Nya is a human again and that they both have kids. Same thing with Kai and Skylor and Zane and Pixal. (Zane built his son.) With each child inheriting their parents’ powers. But Cole is absent, but it turns out he’s on a honeymoon with Vania in Cake world. And Lloyd.. Well he died. #RestoretheWBLegoVerse.
I think the idea of Ninjago was actually from 2008:We know there were a lot of NINJAGO s pilot season and season 1 ideas, we also know there were many changes to them.Ninjago shares many acpects from Anime, So I think Ninjago was supposed to be a Manga series in 2008 and was taken in by lego in late 2008 or early 2009.Just look at the pilot garmadon's design.I think the reason it was taken in by Lego was to attract anime fans and it did.

Whatever decision they made, things are already done and all people must suffer the consequences of their decisions, only the results speak for us, I love that those behind this show are so ambitious, I hope they continue like this. 03:02 that is one of the ideas that I liked the most, it would have been cool to see something like that, hope is the last thing that is lost. elemental masters 4:16 i'm 50/50, because ninjago has to face an obstacle, and it's the number of episodes it's allowed to produce (and lego monkey kid is worse) and following a lot of rules for being a toy brand , and that is a point against, if I had to give more episodes to a season, it would certainly be the tournament of the elements, to know more about the elemental masters, they are somewhat wasted characters, but wasted does not mean ruined. I want more backstory for all of them and what it means to be a person with powers who just didn't feel like becoming a ninja. ending in season 7 6:38 I'm terrified that this show will never end, and I wish it would go away with my head held high (hey, I still like ninjago) and I want it to have an ending one day, but that ending My heart would have been broken by Cole's disappearance, but it seems like a good ending to me, I'm 50/50 too. It will be when the series ends, a next generation is a very sensitive issue synonymous with failure in many franchises (cough, cough, Boruto).
I would've loved number 2 infact expand it further: nya looses her arms and uses her water power to generate 4 water arms, zane can stay titanium, and make lloyd the golden ninja again. Just make the villains more powerful to supplement that

About the Mr.E being echozane, Well they can do that if they bring Harumi back and I think they will becuse I rember reading that Harumi is alive and echo zane was rebuilt a week after hunted episode 8 dropped but I remember going back the next day and seeing it gone.(I'm not so sure about the exact time).
I think the first plot for the Lego Ninjago Movie was great. Does anyone have any thoughts as to why a plot that great would be replaced with a bare-bone “save the city from the evil monster with ancient weapons” plot?
Seeing how many things are cancelled because of new viewers, I think they should take a naruto like direction with the show, and have SOME episodes filled with flash backs (unlike naruto where all episodes were filled with flashbacks).
Yeah, I saw the director say that, but tbh it feels a little suspect as an excuse to me haha (and those old movies did that because they were very low budget, so...)
I don't believe in Aliens the way that they visited earth and etc. I believe it in the way NASA and Physicists see it so I'd love a space TV special with The Aliens being from other galaxies .Unfortunately I think it won't happen because The Hugemans used this concept in BELOW:tales of Arcadia.
i really liked the idea of scrapping the attack on titan reference on the show, having the ninjago series meddle with anime wont end up well.... anime fans (attack on titan fans to be exact) might be a bit aggressive about the idea of having a show being similar to their fav show.

you know kinda wish we got more behind the serpentine war or like make them feel more like people like one of the main reasons that the serpentine went to war with the humans was that they raised a human baby and they grew to be one of them (and is friends with all of the generals we see now) and fell in love in some new serpentine person from a serpentine race that resembles the vipers from xcom 2 but for whatever reason the other humans faked there death but in secret exiled him without serpentine knowledge and this person returns and frees the serpentine from the tombs now when i think of this person to be a mixed of benn beckmen and like van augur all from one piece and the personalty of a cool calm sniper mixed with shanks (also one piece) care for fun and people thing and his power can be a haki like thing and has a lot of weapons but this whole is just a thought

3:26 HARD AGREE! We get 3 dragons from the wave all about dragons (in the show we get like 6, 2 of them sharing a design and another 2 which appear so little they might have been just slightly changed version of the same design too)
I would love to see those dragons, they are so unique and amaizing! They blend lego and not lego and showcases so many unique designs and ideas that are so amaizing to look at. (Some of them remind me of Hero factory monsters)
They also have so much personality in the faces and body designs to the point that i can imagine them being real creatures.

They talk about how using dragons is their lifestyle... we see 1 dragon used in an arena once, 1 dragon used for fire and supposedly wind dragon was suppose to be eaten but we see only 1 real dragon hunt and it just doesnt convince me they use dragons :/

I dislike all of number 8... by dislike i mean ending the show that way would feel weird and sorta seems just... unnatural? It seems like it skips alot of stuff that would make it just too abrupt
I dislike S12, by the matter i think its one of the most insulting seasons of the show because it just shows whats wrong with the ninjago season structure and the new ninjago episode count and length of episodes but if the concept of Number 7 stayed, i would deffinitely love it alot more as it would atleast have some impact on... anyone really (seriously, skipping the season changes only 1 scene/gag in S13)

Oni Titan - Season 10 should have been longer to flash out the oni in general but i am not opposed to the muscle titans.

On the topic of S3... it got really screwed over :( It needed alot more time to flesh out its story because as of now, S3 is a big ninjago MEH

Thanks for the detailed comments and agreed on a lot of these, the biggest problem to me was really S10 failing to provide a good conclusion to the trilogy - after all, the Oni never shapeshifted once, which was a major part of their concept. So many missed opportunities...

Honestly there were quite a few concepts I really liked there, but I would have loved if the NINJAGO movie went in the direction it was originally going to go in. Would’ve probably been one of the best pieces of Ninjago content.
Same here, that’s by far the biggest improvement to me. A lot of the show changes are “nice to haves” but I’m generally happy with how the show turned out regardless - the movie is the big one
Imagine this.. Jay uses time travelling Tea to travel to the future to see if Nya returns to her human form. He arrives 20 Years in the future to find that Nya is a human again and that they both have kids. Same thing with Kai and Skylor and Zane and Pixal. (Zane built his son.) With each child inheriting their parents’ powers. But Cole is absent, but it turns out he’s on a honeymoon with Vania in Cake world. And Lloyd.. Well he died. #RestoretheWBLegoVerse.

I think the idea of Ninjago was actually from 2008:We know there were a lot of NINJAGO s pilot season and season 1 ideas, we also know there were many changes to them.Ninjago shares many acpects from Anime, So I think Ninjago was supposed to be a Manga series in 2008 and was taken in by lego in late 2008 or early 2009.Just look at the pilot garmadon's design.I think the reason it was taken in by Lego was to attract anime fans and it did.
14:08 I was really baffled when I heard that for the first time live in the podcast. I always thought this was based of the Mata Nui rising story line, especially because it literally continued with a Legend Reborn/Reign of Shadows-like story arc.
Whatever decision they made, things are already done and all people must suffer the consequences of their decisions, only the results speak for us, I love that those behind this show are so ambitious, I hope they continue like this.

elemental masters 4:16 i'm 50/50, because ninjago has to face an obstacle, and it's the number of episodes it's allowed to produce (and lego monkey kid is worse) and following a lot of rules for being a toy brand , and that is a point against, if I had to give more episodes to a season, it would certainly be the tournament of the elements, to know more about the elemental masters, they are somewhat wasted characters, but wasted does not mean ruined. I want more backstory for all of them and what it means to be a person with powers who just didn't feel like becoming a ninja.

I would've loved number 2 infact expand it further: nya looses her arms and uses her water power to generate 4 water arms, zane can stay titanium, and make lloyd the golden ninja again. Just make the villains more powerful to supplement that

About the Mr.E being echozane, Well they can do that if they bring Harumi back and I think they will becuse I rember reading that Harumi is alive and echo zane was rebuilt a week after hunted episode 8 dropped but I remember going back the next day and seeing it gone.(I'm not so sure about the exact time).
I think the first plot for the Lego Ninjago Movie was great. Does anyone have any thoughts as to why a plot that great would be replaced with a bare-bone “save the city from the evil monster with ancient weapons” plot?
Seeing how many things are cancelled because of new viewers, I think they should take a naruto like direction with the show, and have SOME episodes filled with flash backs (unlike naruto where all episodes were filled with flashbacks).

i really liked the idea of scrapping the attack on titan reference on the show, having the ninjago series meddle with anime wont end up well.... anime fans (attack on titan fans to be exact) might be a bit aggressive about the idea of having a show being similar to their fav show.
About the original pilot ending, We saw sth. like that in S.2 Ep.6 except the part that insted of the futre it was the past.

you know kinda wish we got more behind the serpentine war or like make them feel more like people like one of the main reasons that the serpentine went to war with the humans was that they raised a human baby and they grew to be one of them (and is friends with all of the generals we see now) and fell in love in some new serpentine person from a serpentine race that resembles the vipers from xcom 2 but for whatever reason the other humans faked there death but in secret exiled him without serpentine knowledge and this person returns and frees the serpentine from the tombs
now when i think of this person to be a mixed of benn beckmen and like van augur all from one piece and the personalty of a cool calm sniper mixed with shanks (also one piece) care for fun and people thing and his power can be a haki like thing and has a lot of weapons but this whole is just a thought
