I loved the way the two of them and the haughty father all treated Columbo like some inept rube while he set the trap they fell into. Sweet!
Given the fact that the father was played by Robert Culp (who played multiple murders on that show) makes it even better
Agree!
I'm pretty sure these guys are the only murderers that never figure out that Columbo is more than he appears, including after the reveal.
@@coolgreenbug7551 It's hard to say, but one of them was sure nervous during the demo while the other still had that smug look on his face. They must have thought Columbo was really stupid when they tried to pretend someone else snuck in and set up the whole gun rig in their car without their knowledge.
This was one of the, if not the most, satisfying reveals of the entire series because of their disdain for and ridicule of Columbo throughout the investigation. They were making fun of him while blissfully unaware that he was methodically tightening the noose around their necks as he seemingly went along with their game. They were two of the most thoroughly dislikable killers to have appeared on the series.
Yea, and there’s that scene when he sees them making fun of his mannerisms and gestures. Smug bas*****!
No one can set up a gotcha moment like Lieutenant Columbo!!! 👍👍🙂
Shades of "He doesn't live here....I live here. This is my underwear, this is my niece, my nephew."
Love the way Columbo set the trap for these arrogant, smug kids. Gotcha…
Columbo knew those guys killed their professor and like a cat, he was only playing with his prey/food before he started eating! Gotta love his mind games!
Such a wonderful show. Who needs CSI when you get to watch a detective outsmart and trap every suspect?
I always loved this episode.
The best Columbo of the rebooted series. I watched it when it first aired.........
Just got the first series for 3 UK Pounds! from a second hand shop 11 hours and 52 mins of brilliant acting!
If only that officers name he asked to book them was named Dan or Daniel or Danny.. Then he could have said "Book 'em Danno". I don't normally like the remade Columbo episodes but this was one of the best of them. The cocky young student murderers treated Columbo like some senile old man, but he got the last laugh on them.
_Columbo_ has never been remade.
The interplay with the two friends/roommates was very well done. The hand signals and interaction gave a realistic sense that these were close friends and co-conspirators. Casting was excellent here.
He knows within 5 minutes who did it when he gets on scene. This is one of the better new episodes. My top ten are all the older shows.
The one with the artist is pretty good.
The blonde haired killer-‘Coop’- is a world class, on screen gulper.
Imagine being a fellow police officer, who knows Columbos a genuis, knows hatched a plan, and being there personal as hes about to execute it. It would be really exciting to see it unfold, especially not knowing how it's going to play out. My heart would be pounding in anticipation
I love how completely unrealistic some of these murders are 😂 the bad guy builds a cartoon death trap that Colombo figures out
When watching the episode, you get the feeling that these guys would definitely be this elaborate for no reason other than to feel smart.
I disagree. it would have been perfectly possible with the technology that existed in 1990 when this episode was made, unusual perhaps. Of course in todays wireless age, they could have did the same thing from the other side of the world.
If it was just a boring murder with no complex plan.
No one would watch the show or, any other muder mystery.
It is brilliant the writers came up with this. Could you?
I think much of the acting in this scene is fantastic. You could see that they're starting to squirm and they feel the news tightening around their neck
They should have lied and told him something like “our car sound isn’t working”
They thought Columbo was a fumbling simpleton but, as with all the murderers Columbo deals with, they all underestimate the legendary detective who underneath the worn out raincoat is still as sharp as a knife. RIP Peter Falk.
Haven`t seen these movies in many years, 10 years I know. I loved Robert Culp and Jack Cassidy.
Another great later episode. I’ve watched it a dozen times. The 2 spoiled college brats had no remorse whatsoever. Cold killers.
If you've watched it a dozen times, the you know that it's Justin who has no remorse. Coop, however, can be debated.
Terrific finale when he gets his suspect(s) fair & square 😊🎉
Great EPISODE
No one can fill Peter Faulk shoe as Columbo.
I'd like to see full epizodes!!!
Criminals outwitted again 😅
Columbo is always 20-30 steps ahead of the suspect(s). He's slicker than oil.
Don't worry , his dad will get him off ?? 😂
I’d like to have that car now🤩
In the chapter, they are continually laughing at him; He can even see how they make fun of him. Even the father takes him for a fool. The end is a cure of humility
His Wife's Niece again, 😂
This case could have been solved by Columbo a lot sooner. When he came down to the parking garage after he had been notified of the teachers death, he could have barred any vehicle leaving the garage until they were thoroughly searched, especially the ones closest to the teachers car. Then he would have discovered straight away the elaborate setup inside the students vehicle as soon as he lifted the hood.
Youd think theyd have removed the gun fron the car by this time.
Loosely based on Leopold and Loeb.
Not even close
Columbo episodes where all the same type. The Murder takes place. Columbo knows who did it very quickly and then spends an hour or so asking lots of questions to the Murderer then he nails the Murderer and then the Murderer gets arrested!
Yes so what
Why do you think that "murder" is a proper noun?
That guy is wearing a sport coat, a sweater, a long-sleeve shirt, and probably a t-shirt under that and it's California 😂 and if he's trying to be stylish it isn't working even for 1990 standards.
Did Columbo fabricate the Phoenix plane ticket to see if any of the suspects would bite, or did I miss a scene? Also, did Justin and Cooper leave that camera under the hood or did Columbo put another one there in the finale?
What episode is this? When was this aired? This couldn't be a 70s thing. The type of tech they have there was not available to anyone in the 70s.
The episode is "Columbo Goes to College" and was aired in 1990.
@@r0bw00d ahhh. That makes sense. 1990, that was possible.
