    I'm getting a list and trying to get gear to do the hike with. How long did the socks last for? Did you use a phone app to navigate with and for resupply on the trail?

    • @ChicaandSunsets

      Socks lasted while thruhike. Used FarOut app for navigation and resupply.

    good gear rundown! Sunsets, Interested in that fanny pack, Is that the Versa model? I think that would be crazy handy, might have to get me one of those,, looking forward to following ya'll on the IAT,,Enjoyed the video , thanks

    • @ChicaandSunsets
      @ChicaandSunsets  3 года назад +1

      Yes, it’s. the Versa. I really didn’t expect to like a Fanny pack so much, but it is incredibly useful and makes access to oft used items easy and quick. A bit pricy but worth it in my opinion.

    You might want to rethink not having hiking pants. Ticks will be bad and permethrin pants would be a good idea.

      @@ChicaandSunsets I have family that lives along the Lake Eleven segment and I’ve done a fair amount of hiking on the IAT. I would second the long pants idea. In addition to ticks, you’ll find lots of poison ivy, which I seem to be particularly sensitive to. I’m planning on doing the AT next year and hope to make it to your hostel! Good luck on the IAT!

    Chica, are you going to use the Sawyer squeeze or the Be free?

    • @ChicaandSunsets
      @ChicaandSunsets  3 года назад +1

      I’ll have the sawyer squeeze and Sunsets will have the Be Free - we’ll see which we like better. Although if the Be Free continues to filter as fast as it does right now - I might just have Sunsets do my water for me too! 💦 😂

    I don't understand why so many hikers want to wear black clothing in mosquito areas. They are more attracted to dark clothing. Also in hot weather, it doesn't reflect the heat away from you like the light colors do. Am I missing some clue?

    • @ChicaandSunsets
      @ChicaandSunsets  3 года назад +1

      For us the choice was made because there was no choice. The OR Echo was only available in black at the time of purchase. You make good points though.

    Question for you Sunsets: what was your reasoning going with the CDT rather than the Ohm 2.0. I just got an Ohm since I love my Circuit but was never close to filling it up. Looking forward to your Ice Age Trail hiking vids. Stay safe and have fun!

    • @ChicaandSunsets
      @ChicaandSunsets  3 года назад

      The volume on the ohm is way too much for me and I really do not like the tall profile. With the CDT I get closer to my ideal volume plus I had the add load lifters and frame. We had a long water carry today so I had it to about 26#s of weight- the max of what I’ll ever need.
      Hope this helps

      @@ChicaandSunsets Makes sense. I went with the Ohm but will take one out of your playbook if I'm not liking it. I did not know Chris would customize even further other than colors and materials. ULA by far makes the best hip belts in the business, that's why I love mine. Great fit and support! Travel safe and have fun! I still need to get to your hostel for a stay!

    Any special reason for Ursack instead of a bear bag?

    • @ChicaandSunsets
      @ChicaandSunsets  3 года назад +1

      We used the Ursacks on the Bartram and Colorado Trail thru-hikes and like the ease of just tying them to a tree (vs. throwing a bear bag and doing the PCT hang). Also - there are bears on the IAT, but they are not as used to people/food - so we feel more comfortable using the Ursacks.
