I have so many dude friends who won't watch supernatural because they say it's "a girl show". How? Aside from the majority of the fan base being women, how is this a girly show? There's gore, muscle cars, dude jokes, and greasy food. Why can't we all just like the show?
I guess they see 3 pretty boys and are like "I am not for this shit...."

It's a sausage fest, for the most part so it's understandable.
Early SPN might not have been like that, but that is pretty much what it's been since season 5 onward.
My crush is the one that told me about supernatural (even though I knew about it) he even gave me the password to his Netflix just to watch it this was years ago. Even my brother and sister in law like it my sister is afraid of it but she still watches it she comes into my room while I'm watching it.
My brother and I have watched this show since it began. We call each other bitch. Cried like one when it ended.

The only real time I ever noticed someone was shocked that I, a guy, watch SPN was in Walmart. I was flirting with the cashier and her SPN shirt was showing under the Walmart shirt. So I commented on it and she said her favorite Winchester was Dean. My response was a hair flip accompanied by "What, no love for Moose?"
I think her jaw hit the floor after she realized I watch the show. Of course I followed with, "Sam and Dean are cool but my favorite Winchester would have to be Mary." It was a successful attempt at flirting if I do say so myself.
I'm impressed.

I binge watched all 15 season in like a months and a half and after that I watched some panels saw some fan stuff and yeah... All female fans, kinda weird... But ehm yeah, show is still great

Are there actually almost no male spn fans or are they just not going to conventions? I have been wondering for years. Supernatural doesn't really seem like a "chick show" like Vampire Diaries or something. So where are the boys? Any reading this?
I think it's that the dudes don't go to conventions as much as the chicks. Surveys in past years have actually shown that more men watch than women, though it's possible that's changed in more recent years. I'd say around 50/50, though, personally.

I know quite a few guys who are fans of the show, so I'm sure they do exist. I'm not sure why they don't go to conventions though, unless they just don't feel welcome with so many women there. I've never been to any before - are conventions generally female-dominant?

I started watching this show when I was 7 with my dad and big brother, it used to only come on tv at like 2am because of how scary it was and tbh I always saw it more as a "men's" show than a "girl's"

Was recently thrilled to find a guy who's watching up to the current season and is actually in an spn fan forum IN MY COUNTRY... which is very rare since they stopped airing it after season 8 here lol

I am a man in my mid 40's and I have watched the show since the beginning. I think that men are just a lot less likely to swoon over actresses and actors, so they are a lot less likely to attend things like this. Most actors and actresses that I have met were through work and I have met a lot.

There's so much gold to mine from their conventions. Love it. I wish the company doing them would just provide videos of them already. That's a money making opportunity they are missing.
I'm glad they don't. They'd regulate these kinds of vids much more harshly and people who don't get to go to Cons wouldn't get to see them. Great if you're a businessperson in that industry, bad for the show's publicity and for the people who can't make it to the Cons. The money-grab is what kills most things in the end, whether it's a business, show, or film.
Then I wish they would loosen up and allow people to video more. It really would be best for the show overall, I think. There have to be people who see the videos taken at conventions who then get interested in going to a convention.
Michele Long I definitely agree. Sadly though, if videoing becomes about money, the availability with decrease incredibly. It's the sad truth of a company like that these days.

The first video got me🤣🤣🤣 "We're going to the monster truck show nextime honey" anyways i love how even the cast members are shocked to see guys. Most likely because they see a lot of fan girls. Because Supernatural is apparently a "Chick show" pretty boys doesn't mean its a chick show.....they could be positive (most of the time) role models for guys too. Then the gore,Killing,Cars, and Manly jokes they make....will go over some people's heads.

I don't know how I missed that there was no product placement. I am truly impressed. I actually just watched SPN for the first time this year (2021). I wish someone had told me there was no product placement. I'd have watched it years ago.
Are there series that partway through seasons began doing product placements? Is it a network policy? I don’t think I noticed any on Walker, or on any if the Arrowverse.

The idea that girls don't like paranormal or sci fi type media is a myth. When star trek first started their fanbase was mostly women.
I think the spn fanbase is 50/50 but I definitely think women are more likely to go to the Supernatural conventions than men.

So my boyfriend is obsessed with this show, I started watching it so he could have someone to talk to about it. I’m not a huge fan of the show but I love the characters, especially Dean. I would love to take him to a convention and tell them all of this so they would be shocked that I’m not the one obsessed but my boyfriend is. 😂♥️
When Jared was acting out Season 7, he said he would be Sam & Dean, but really Sam is the only one who really faints or gets knocked out that much, especially in Season 7.
I never knew being a guy who is hardcore into SPN was a rarity, i just like the show and think that the fanbase is pretty damn cool, alongside of the actors and pretty much everything that goes along with it.

Please allow me to mansplain how this is a "girl show" while simultaneously complimenting it. This is a girl show because it has a lot of "pretty" people discussing drama. Even though the drama is supernatural in nature, it is presented in a way where the emotions of the characters are very pronounced. It might be gory, and there is definitely some violence, but hopefully you realize that those elements alone aren't what grab the attention of a male audience. This show is good at presenting the close relationship of these brothers and the trials they go through. Its good, but the target audience is people who like to see relationship development, aka females.
