Thank you so much for this collection of videos. I have watched quite a few on this piece and your explanation and method of instruction has to be the best and most helpful I've seen. I really like the way you break down and explain the harmony. One quick question regarding bar 7. What is the function of the G# in relation to the Adim chord, (beats 1&2) and is this Adim moving to an A min7b5 (beats 3 & 4) with the G natural? What in your opinion is the best way to think about this bar harmony wise?
What a great question! Honestly I consider the entire measure 7 to be a diminished ii (like you said A min 7b5) leading to the D7 which is V of Gm. With regards to the G# I interpret it as a temporary neighbor tone giving some chromatic movement (G#, G, F#) leading to the 3rd of the D7 chord. Because the chord on beats 1 & 2 needs to be spelled from bottom up, A, C, Eb, and G# it seems that would be extremely unusual to have an augmented 3rd on the top especially in this time period. Ideas anyone?

@@OlympiaPiano Thank you, that makes it clearer - the chromatic movement from G# to the 3rd of the D7 is a good way to think about :)
