    What’s New With T-Series?
    We redesigned our lenses for newer, larger camera phones. By designing these around wider field of views, larger high-resolution sensors, and more advanced image stabilization systems, we were able to achieve a new level of quality and compatibility across a wider array of camera phones.
    - Sharper Images w/ 25% more glass, even an extra layer in some of the lenses.
    - Larger Interface, enabling us to fit over newer camera phones.
    - Increased Compatibility with next iPhone and Android cameras.
    - Threaded Mounting Ring to put filters directly on your lens.
    What Happens To M-Series Lenses?
    Nothing! It’s not going anywhere. We plan to support it on all of the new iPhones with cases and mounts. Plus it gives creators a more affordable entry point for older phones.
    Want To Upgrade?
    We have a trade-in program so you can upgrade your lenses to T-Series.

    i'd like to see a comparison between the M-Series and the T-Series variants of the lenses to see the claimed improvements :)

    • @SeanCC
      @SeanCC Год назад +4

      Yes, bigger rear aperture is great for newer or larger phones/drones, but if you're going to claim improvements there needs to be charts and exposure comparisons.

    I'm glad to see a new lens come out, sadly I can't trust your videos anymore. You guys made videos with iPhone 14 pro and m-series lens showing compatibility. In reality, your lens produced poor image quality with fringing and heavy vignetting. Now I have to wait and see what the other creators say about this product. You guys should apologize for falsely adverting the product, and deceiving the customer.

    • @LLGamingCards
      @LLGamingCards Год назад +14

      That's specifically why they made the T-Series that has a wider aperture. The M-Series was built for it's smaller camera lenses so that's why they needed to update it as phone cameras have gotten bigger and bigger

    • @JamesCMcKinnon
      @JamesCMcKinnon Год назад +1

      I know. The problem is they marketed their old m-series lens as if it was fully compatable before they released the new t-series lens. You should watch their coment section on their video of iPhone 14 Pro w/ m-series lens. It is filled with compleints of vignetting or lens not being compatable. Why did they not tell the truth about the lens being not compatable with the smaller apature? They definetly knew what they were doing, and hoped the customer to purchace an obsolete product. Shame on Moment and their marketing team.@@LLGamingCards

  • @SeanCC
    @SeanCC Год назад +9

    @3:11 y'all state that the 1.33x lens gives the user "that classic 1.85:1 aspect ratio" further stating that this is the aspect ratio that most movies use. There's two incorrect statements in there. As a current owner of an M-Series 1.33x lens I know that at least the Moment devs know better but maybe get a quick ADR session together and re-up a fix.
    The 1.33x lens achieves a ~2.36:1 aspect ratio which is close to the theatrical standard of 2.39:1 or rounded up to 2.40:1 as movie theaters haven't actually shown 2.35:1 for a long time. Meanwhile, the 1.55x lens achieves a final aspect ratio of ~2.76:1 which is the same aspect ratio of Ultra-Panavision 70, the short-lived anamorphic 65mm process that was revived for The Hateful Eight.

    Would love to see an ND filter combination? Is possible! Haha. I’m a documentary film maker and recently have been going to areas that are not so favorable for my large C300 because of security risks. So, I’ve been looking to build out a phone setup, but I REALLY need NDs, and would love to see that kind of combination. This is so cool! Just ordered the iPhone 15 pro max today. Can’t wait to see what all it can do.

  • @RemmyMusic1
    @RemmyMusic1 Год назад +6

    why did the 1.33 look much less sharp than the 1.55? was that just bad focus or is there some sort of hardware limitation?

    • @TheCyberSpidey
      @TheCyberSpidey Год назад +2

      Yeah 1.33 looked really soft in an unpleasant way. Same with barrel distortion on both, much worse on 1.33.

    • @SeanCC
      @SeanCC Год назад

      There's a couple possible reasons for this. The first one, and more likely, is that he was using a phone or lens on a phone that is reaching the limits of what's advisable with this attachment. It's either physically larger or a wider focal length than is optimal. In those cases you'll see softness as well as possibly greater chromatic aberration and even vignetting.
      Or he could have a bad lens. That's likely not the case, but you never know what their QC is like (it wasn't too good on this video) based on where they're likely sourcing the work to keep costs down.
      I've got an M-Series and on my older iPhone I DO NOT get near this much softness and distortion at the edges with my 1.33x. But it's got a smaller lens. The problem with their videos is there's zero data or good info. It's not enough to say something was shot on the 1.33x or 1.55x, and I could care less about their IG handle. What they should have is what specific phone/device was used, what specific lens was used (if it's a multi-lens camera) and what app was used.
      One can assume it would all be their app, but Filmic Pro on the iPhone supports these lenses as well and some users may prefer its controls over the Moment app.

    • @SeanCC
      @SeanCC Год назад

      @@TheCyberSpidey barrel distortion is one of the nice things you get with these adapters, but in this case (as well as the softness), if you look at the footage after about 3:12 he looks to be using it on a too-wide of a lens. The 1.55x footage afterwards has a much smaller area of softness near the edges and that's about like what I get with my M-series 1.33x and my phone, which has a smaller lens that's not as wide.
      Some edge softness is expected. Cinema anamorphic lenses, from Panavision and others, are quite often soft at the edges and some series of classic anamorphics (ie. JDC Xtal Xpress) don't even match as a set, in terms of focus and color characteristics. Anamorphics are generally selected for their "personality" and the more often than not random optical things that can happen.

    Ok hear me out.... I'd love to experiment with a T-Series 1.55x on my Fujix100v. Can you guys make a Moment bayonet adapter for the x100 series Fuji? I know this is a super niche thing, but my dream is to have a super compact anamorphic still camera (that is not a phone). This would be the GOAT! I've rigged this up with the old Moment 1.33x lens by cutting a drop-in lens adapter and supergluing it to a step ring. The results were surprisingly dope! A little soft, but definitely usable. If ya'll were able to actually design an aligned adapter for the Fuji X100v, I think it would be a major hit. I'd buy the shit outta that. Just a thought. Thanks for helping to make anamorphics mainstream!

      Depends on who the client is and what they are looking for. Some clients want social media style content. There are also some situations where you're capturing content and you can't get a whole camera rig in. I don't think a phone camera can be your primary for large gigs, but it definitely has a place in the creative toolset.
