A quick summary of 13 Weeks training at MCRD San Diego.
MCRD San Diego's main mission is the initial training of enlisted male recruits living west of the Mississippi River. Over 21,000 recruits are trained each year. The Depot also is the home to the Marine Corps' Recruiter School and Western Recruiting Region's Drill Instructors School.

I remember the bus ride to San Diego... I was tired and I fell asleep. I woke up to the drill instructor on the bus screaming something and I reacted with randomly saying “NO SIR!” Not sure why. Turns out, he was saying, “the only words that will come out of your mouth are no sir, yes sir, and aye aye sir. Do you understand?” First night was not my best night.
Svxzy so close to yes sir
Svxzy where did you get on the bus like did you live in Nevada get a plane to LA and get on the bus there like where do you get on the bus
@@behindyou6427 im not sure of the specific details but basically you get taken to a hotel where they feed u and u get your own room for a few days. This is because they take you to a nearby facility where they give you a physical before you leave. After that you return to the hotel until they take you on the bus straight to san diego. This is how i understood it from my recruiter but i may be off i still dont leave for a couple months

@Chad Wyman Run. A. LOT. If you can, join your schools track team. Lift some weights and learn how to swim. The rest is a piece of cake
My brother just graduated boot camp and the funny part is his instructor gave him the nickname Potato
Grace Kovar hey one question did u brother come out acting way different because my brother left today for boot camp
Zerxizm your brother probably gonna come back calling your mom and dad sir and ma’am. That’s how different he’ll be 😂😂
Team 9 oh but that is it really?
@@SunShine-pn1gl so how different is he now?
I’ll add onto this, I get flashbacks from the words “Zero, freeze” and many more. I can’t even remember when my first name was brought up besides letters. It’s actually kinda mind boggling when you get home (I think, haven’t gone home yet) because you just snap to reality and realize people call you by your first name. You forget how the food taste, and you most importantly forgot how truly cared you were
imagine you just sleeping and you get a phone call all your here is *insert noises of hell*
Its just incomprehensible screaming
😭😂😂
It's funny how in 3 months you can go from a high school graduate to a highly skilled killer.
GoldenTV3 -- Ditto.
A highly skilled killer? What a clown comment.
It's just the beginning. The easy part.
Eric B...FUCK YOU.
After basic you only know enough on how to get your ass kicked. ITB is where you start becoming a boot fuck, but I mean yeah, eventually you become a stone cold war fighter or PoG.
My son's there right now. The more videos I watch of boot camp, the more I'm realizing just what a huge accomplishment it is to become a Marine. I've always been proud of him, but now I'm in awe. He's the fittest I've ever seen him, and that was before boot camp, but I have no doubt he's going to be challenged.

My son left on Monday. I guess we all in the same page.. blessings

my grandson is going next week. First one in the military in our family. I am anxious
I see these young men every day. It's interesting to watch the various stages of their development. I've seen them newly arrived with a palpable fear in their eyes, and uncoordinated movements. I've seen then when they look longingly out of a window, probably missing mom or a girlfriend, and a kind word. I've seen them drilling and enduring the extreme physical demands placed on them under a hot summer sun or in the depths of a swim tank. Then, as if emerging from a cocoon, they take on the persona of a fine, disciplined Marine. They have my respect and admiration.
Are you a D.I.?
@@rigelb9025 No I’m not. I worked on base when I wrote that comment. Nice memories….
Leaving for boot in 1 day heading from little Missouri to mcrd San Diego
good luck man
Markus Campos leaving in 3 days from Chicago
Have fun. Just graduated May 10th
Legend Himself bro there’s nothing you can’t do. I’m currently at school of infantry in Pendleton. But like marine life so far is ass, but that’s to be expected as a junior marine. Just choose wisely with your MOS. Bootcamp is a challenging aspect of it all but it’s such a little portion of your career
@@ethanzimmerman2802 1 year later hows it going man?
That was funny when the DI's were yelling in the phone and making noise to let mommy know little Johnny is going to be a man.
HML 367, don't run your pie hole as if you have been there and done that.
HML367 yeah but I’d DEFINITELY be annoyed with my DI’s cuz I’m trying to talk to my family and apparently that’s a no no. Yikes but why were they yelling when he’s on the phone with his family?
@@radikowalski1553 first call back home there is no talking really your told what to say
That part pissed me off 😡 😤 but it was also kind of funny though 😂.
He was either taking too long or he wasn't talking loud enough 😂
I remember having the feeling of what the fuck did I get myself into when the DI stepped onto the bus
Travis Maxey I honestly didn't have that feeling until black Friday. haha
i respect you guys, thanks for the service !
What do you feel about joining the marines now?
Dang, thank god i never have to go thrue this ever again 😅
I'm 67. It's the best thing I ever did in my life. I go back to my Marine training often.I help my fellow Marines and they help me.
I’m literally on the plane ride to San Diego from Dallas texas to bootcamp I am extremely nervous but extremely excited can’t wait to be able to call myself a marine in 3 months
How'd it go?
@@dominicdrost6911 😭😭 yo that’s so crazy that I saw this right before I sleep and we have pt tmr at 4am well I made it was a crazy experience much more than what they show they def act nice on camera 😭😭 but it was fun in the end watching your buddies get fucked up making friends going through each day together knowing you all want it to be over but knowing that you can keep going and you will overcome in the end I’m glad I did it for me my wife and my child that is soon to be born I did my combat training as well now I’m in my school house in Florida and although I miss my wife like crazy in two months I’ll be able to live with her I can’t wait but bootcamp was a hell of an experience crazy experience but I made the best of it and joined the best fucking branch hoorah baby would I do it again ? Hell no but it was def a once in a lifetime experience I will never forget leaving my old self behind and adapting and becoming even more than I ever thought I had in myself knowing I could never fail for my family and that I had to make it no matter what and god helped me throgh every single day when we would be hiking my feet killing me tired hungry ready to give up I looked at the sky and remembered why I was there and I made it climbed the reaper and became a mf marine
I would love to do basic training just to push my limits and to evolve as a human being.
Justin f h If you're not doing it for your country then don't join
Oumar Traore Im only gonna join during war time. According to my bro; Fuck peacetime corps.
Henry Liu that's not a good way to look at it. Luckily I went in 2003 so there was plenty of war for everyone. If you join the Marines if a war does kick off you will go first. There are a lot of opportunities, I went on float for 9 months; it was awesome (ended up in Iraq). Then I got deployed to Iraq 2 other times. I got out as a Sgt, now I make 100k a year as a cop. The Marine Corps opens up a lot of doors and you can call yourself a Marine for the rest of your life.
Si Vis Pacem Para bellum. If You Want Peace Prepare for War.
Stephen 1982 I understand that and I thank you for your service but my brother says its not really worth it during peacetime. I understand your experience differs greatly from that of my brother but I would rather not be stuck on base 24/7. Being deployed to a base like Oki or going on a MEU is different.
My brother is one of the best Marines in his company but his First Sgt is a dick, his senior lcpls are dicks, etc. Hes superceded other Marines by obtaining various additional billets and being the one asked to teach other Marines cqc or how to rappel. And hes just a Machine gunner. Despite all that he gets treated like shit with shit pay.
Justin f h don't listen to that dude who says his brother is a marine. Fuck that shit experience it yourself. I'm a Marine and it's not always fun but it's not the worst thing in the world
MY son was deemed the "favorite" lmao; you know what that means. He is responsible ,on time, person at a young age; works out every day and sets himself a strict diet. He never misses work no matter what. He changed from a kid I could not control into a responsible adult w deployments under his belt.
Tina if nobody told you im going to tell you , you did a good job mom
I went through this as a Corpsman at Camp Pendleton. It was to becomes the toughest training, but the best training. Yes, it can be done. The Marines can train even a Petty Officer to EARN the title of Marine Corps "Doc"!! Semper Fi. I did 7 of the 8 years of my hitch in the Corps and was honored to be there!
Simper for doc
I leave tomorrow for boot camp. I’m nervous and excited
Get rdy to be paranoid and afraid. lol o man your life is over boot

My little brother just left a week ago. I can’t stop thinking about him I wanted to see what he might be experiencing. Sending him his first letter this week.
Letters in Boot Camp definitely gave me a huge boost of motivation, you’re helping him a lot by writing him. Best of luck to your brother!
Hotel Hell?
Good luck to him
There’s no way I would call someone who’s gonna pick up w/ them screaming & banging. They’re gonna swear I’m some shit is going down. I would call myself and scream at the voicemail-that way I’ll have that to go back & listen to to get a good laugh
you actually have 3 tries for someone to answer, whether it be a parent, or girlfriend or your recruiter and you speak based on a script
Respect to anyone who's been in basic training and served.
Graduated plt 3009, 1968, loved the M-14,.308 High powered gas operated rifle . Had a m-16, half way through Vietnam tour. I wish they would have called it an assult pistol. Never felt like it was on the same par as the M-14 .love you all.😬..

You're better men for it. Thank you for your service.
marines are sharp.. love the discipline..simperfi
Worst and best time of my life would go back if I could
I wanna be a marine I just gotta get out of my comfort zone
Just set a date for it in the future and then spend all your time up until then getting yourself physically prepared and learning as much before you go as you can. Running and lifting alone (if you don't already do that) will get you out of your comfort zone and help you embrace the suck.
For example, I'm going to sign the dotted line on the first week of September and I'm spending the day today (my 22nd birthday) running and studying for the ASVAB. Comfort is all a mindset man. Hope it all works out for you.
Okay, just make sure to not charge us twice for an item or we'll drop you.
REPLY
I am sure you will make a fine gay military man. They allow gays like you in now.
My recommendation is to talk to a recruiter, don't sign anything, get a copy of the daily 7 and pract.
Daily 7 are seven exercises the Marines do daily, hence, daily 7.
Don't bulk up muscle is weight, Marines are, Lean and Mean.
Pract is short for "Practical Knowledge"
Don't show up at a recruiter and expect to be in Boot Camp the next day, it can take up to three months to find an opening, one goes out, one goes in, kind of like a packed night club.
Dam Son perfect gender equality here: males need to shave their head while females do not
My little brother graduated last week so fucking proud of him! Good luck to all others! Semper Fidelis marines!!!
Graduated today. Lima companu
This is brilliant I found it very informative. I way favor the Marines over even the best of the other branches of the military, but one thing that needs to be done better for everyone is several, really. Pay them a whole lot more money. Take better care of them and make sure they stay healthy. Stop sending them on suicide missions. Have them go to the schools in their areas and teach the kids about survival training. So much could be done if the world were a better place. Our country needs to get on its feet, but we're over halfway there anyway and we'll pull through this dark period.

Badass.. leaving Feb 11th for MCRD San Diego.
Just graduated boot camp (came back from Pendleton and covid was serious) and it’s worst when your crucible is horrible. How did it went?
I refuse to believe it was that hard, there’s no fucking way I went thorough three months of that, only to realize it’s mostly baby shit lol.
Not gonna lie...I'm pissed that they are letting Marines use Acogs at the range. Every Marine should have to qualify with iron sights.
I just graduated bct In the army and I qualified with iron sights. Got expert marksmanship. That's something I was proud of. But my pt score is something I wasn't so proud of. I'm still fat.
Yeah, marksmanship training should be with iron sights.
Why should they qual with iron sights if they are going to use acogs in the fleet. It makes no sense to train on something you will never use after boot camp. I qualified with iron sights and they told me to never use Kentucky windage, but once I hit the fleet they told me the opposite once we started using acogs. They said, "When your under fire you won't have the time to adjust your sights because of the wind." I can't remember who told me this, but one of my NCO's told me something along the lines of "It was better to train for how it is in real life combat, so once you get there it will be muscle memory." Anyway, I know this won't change everyones minds because Marines are people that are sometimes stuck in their traditions, and I won't lie, it is because we have traditions that I joined the Marine Corps in the first place. But, when it comes to something that could potentially save a Marines life, I think we need to take a step back and think, "Is this really the most effective way to train recruits for real life combat." Which ultimately is probably why they made the change in the first place.
Peace out ya'll!
Yeah man, my nephew went through and said they used ACOGs. Man... talk about old Corps.
What if your acog lens crack in battle, learn both methods.
I’m shipping out on Tuesday, wish me luck
Yo bro same on Tuesday parris island?
Hope all is well with you :)
in every single one of these videos all of the DI’s sound like steve-o lol
I think there needs to be a better way to mark the targets. I remember in one rifle qual they marked the target one way, then they wrote it down on their sheet as something else. They need to figure out a more infallible way to score the shooters. Like maybe some sort of way to pull the targets back to the shooters themselves and have official score takers at the shooting line. As everyone who's ever pulled targets knows, whats being marked in the pit isn't always marked as what the shooters actually shot. Sometimes, we even helped them a little. Something as important as a Marines rifle score should be scored with more accuracy as it helps to determine a Marines cutting score which helps them to get promoted.
I'm a retired Marine, and I appreciate what they did for me. So many things I carry on to this day! However, when the talk about SOG's happen. Why does nobody include Air Force Pararescue units? Those boys are as hardcore as they come? Ask any pilot who was rescued by them, and they will sing their praises!
September 27 1975. They made us strip told us to get rid of everything. I kept my bible which I got in 1961 and my rosary which my sister gave before leaving for recruit training.

My uncle went there for basic. He is a SGT or something now in reserve. I plan on joining the army. But I’m long ways away from that.
I pass by this base on the bus all the time when i go donate plasma, and start over thinking, what if there was ever a draft, what would i do, how could i escape it, watching these videos gives me nightmares of the suffering they have to go through here, the trauma of boot camp, the breakdowns, it terrifies me, i pray to god a draft doesnt happen in my lifetime, i dont think id make it to even get on that bus, i dont know how someone could have the balls to voulunteer to do this, but i respect them for the suffering they will face. Id be worse than a private pyle in boot camp, afraid and crying, thinking about suicide most likely, joining the military is one of the greatest fears i have, even more so than my fear of puking
Ok?

Minnesota Guy it's called a reverse C grip. it's actually a pretty stable way to shoot while standing up
Lol it’s what helped me shoot expert
That’s how they make us hold it, it makes it more stable. It’s for accurate slow fire shooting. Table 1 standing, table 2 standing is for fast shooting

In the Brit army you have to qualify with iron sights before you earn the right to use your scope
As it should be.I think Marines should qualify with iron sights. Let the US Army sissies use scopes.

Every Marine is a rifleman, not a sniper! What happens when the scope fails and they haven't used iron sites?
