In fact the UN plans to move 25% of its workers from New York to Nairobi.
We do need better labor laws e.g. for call centers agents. More companies are out sourcing their customer services to Kenya but the pay and conditions these guys work under is abysmal
Obviously the pay and conditions are not abysmal or people would not work there. At which point the company will improve both or either. It's call, economics.
@alexmost166 I do work there. Given half a chance everyone of those agents would work elsewhere. We do the same work other agents in Europe and they work less hours, get paid more (that's before their bonuses kick in)... it's called being taken advantage of because of lax labor laws.
@moumouesi4141 no, it's called economics. You don't want to work there? DON'T. You think people in America do the jobs they want to do for the salary they want to get? No. You are willing to do this job for this pay, that's the definition of fairness. You want to be paid American salary while living in Kenya. Is your monthly cost of groceries 1,000 dollars? Is your rent 2,000 dollars? Is your utility bills 300 dollar a month? Did you spend 100,000 dollars to get a degree? So why should you be paid American salaries, it is simply not how economics work. It's pure entitlement. As for work condition, the task, the misrepresentation of the tasks before you got the job. That's indeed an issue. But if you start mixing your arguments to include invalid complaints, no one would take your legitimate complaints seriously.
@alexmost166 We just had GenZ out on these streets because there are no jobs. We don't work here because we enjoy being abused by customers whose services that they have paid for are not working as advertised. This is the work that is available while we look for other opportunities. Not all of us have the luxury to just NOT work! I know we can't earn the same as my colleagues in Europe but I expect a fair wage for my efforts not a pittance. The word you are looking for is capitalism not economics. There is a high demand for work here therefore they can pay low wages. Ok?!?
@moumouesi4141 no one has the luxury of not working. Not in the US or Europe. If you have not other opportunities, the opportunity you have IS the fair salary. When there are opportunities, salary goes up. What are you complaining about? How the world works? You are payed what you are willing to work for. That's a universal truth.
