Emmy... I made this for my grandkids, and they LOVED IT!!! I had the REALLY cheap ramen (5 for a buck) so I added my own veggies... onions, water chestnuts, chives and red pepper... plus a can of canned chicken... the kids DEVOURED it. My 6 year old grandaughter is the pickiest eater ever, hates everything... she went back for 3rds! This is a definite keeper in the dinner arsenal! Thanx!

My grandma used to make this soup for me! Often it was a frozen veggie mix with some fresh, just whatever she had. But it was so tasty & it made me feel so loved.

I felt validated when you just cracked the egg in the pan and then scrambled because that's how I do mine for breakfast! Family, roommates and my ex have all criticized me for not beating them first in a separate bowl. I just think if I'm only making two eggs there is no need to dirty another dish it's not going to fry instantaneously.

I feel the same way when a new experiment (especially when I try to cook a dish from another country) looks like what I get in a restaurant. I've been making this using regular packaged ramen after watching chef Chris Cho make several variations on Tiktok. You just bash the ramen up in the bag, add your packets and water to cover to the bag, fold the top over and prop it up against something while you prepare the rest of the ingredients. He recommends a splash of soy sauce, a little sesame oil and a little cheese to make it extra special. Its so yummy!

i love shin black. something tells me when using it for a fried rice combo dish the salty-spicy flavor could be greater improved by adding a bit of sweet - even if it's just a handful of frozen corn, or a dash of sugar or something. btw i'm pretty sure the second soup packet in shin black is the beef bone broth!

Super cheap and loaded with carbs hahahah

Works well with frozen veggies too (usually what we are able to get from the foodbank). :) Delicious on it's own too, of course, but with even 1 carrot it has a bit more of a dynamic and it isn't too expensive to acquire in cold areas.

Absolutely delicious and simple to make! I would add more to my fried eggs for a full-meal deal. Chopped fried sausage or ham or crispy bacon (added last minute) and green peas, corn, diced peppers and carrots for more veggie. Bump up the protein by adding egg white to the eggs. Definitely a good bet for a lot of different flavours of ramen out there, for sure!

  • @nekobrenna2291

We make fried ramen slightly different in our house, Emmy!
After soaking the noodles until they're just soft enough to separate, we toss them in a pan with a little bit of oil and fry them until they start getting crispy on the edges. From there, add 1/2 the season packet (or the whole packet if you like strong flavor) and an egg. Scramble the egg together in the pan with the noodles and then serve it 😊
You can add extras either before or after frying the noodles, depending on the cook time.

For those who don’t know - those microwaveable instant rice packs don’t need to be microwaved before stir frying. Straight out of the pack, they’re a pretty good approximation of day old rice that you’d want for a stir fry

LOL-this is just how we would use up our leftover bits & pieces. Leftover meatloaf or meatballs are absolutely fantastic in these type of “floor sweepings” meals

i do something like this but instead of fried rice, i make congee/porridge. you take the leftover soup from the ramen, then put in some cooked rice. you keep mixing it until the soup thickens. i usually add 1 egg to help thicken the mixture into a congee/porridge texture

I add white rice to ramen with eggs and veggies all the time to stretch it to 2 or 3 portions.

In my local Turkish Supermarket the sell bulgar wheat mixed with vermicelli. Similar texture to this. You have to add your own ingredients but it’s brilliant stuff if you can get it. In south east London where I live Turkish shops are the source of all sorts of great food ideas.

You can probably skip the microwaving of the rice and just cook it straight in the pan. Sometimes if I want friend rice but I don't have any leftover rice I'll empty a packet of microwave rice right into a pan - works a treat.

I've been making fried rice in batches for weekday lunch. I separate the servings into pyrex bowls and then put some chopped greens on top. I heat them up in the microwave with a damp paper towel over the top and then stir the greens into the rice. It's a nice way to get fresh-steamed greens into my meal. I'm going to add some ramen this week for fun.

As a uni student I've done a reverse version of this recipe, where I put the ramen (Shin Ramyun), seasoning of the ramen, and egg in while I cook the rice in the rice cooker and stir everything together.

I use different approach for my Indomie fried rice,
    - Crush the noodles
    - Cook the noodles with just a cup of water
    - When the noodles are cooked, pour half a bowl of rice
    - Put in the seasoning and add a bit of oyster sauce or msg just to enhance the flavor if you're using the dry instant noodle, if you use the soup ones, skip the added stuffs
    - Stir until mixed!

When we visit Puerto Rico I make sure and get as much limber as I can while I’m there. My favorite is coconut but there’s so much flavors. You should try making it! I love to stick my freezer with cups to grab.
