Perms use solution to reform the curl pattern of your hair. Heat doesn't affect the bonds to permanently reform curl pattern like perms, but perms help reform curl patterns permanently, making it easier to heat curl after.

It's cause your hair has been chemically altered.... (lightly damaged cuticle not fried) that it holds the style better. Chemically treated hair causes cuticle layers to lift which acts like velcro, while virgin hair is smoother and limits friction. Your hair is also more porous after chemical treatment.
Omg it looks way more voluminous with your hair permed than normal hair and I just got my hair permed so I have to try this out!!
