What is so cool about Mariah's voice in this song is that when she escalates a whole octave up in the climax the melody of the song does not change the key, its the same throughout and the interpretation filled of despair and sadness is completely done by her voice proving how versatile it is. She re-recorded a 2021 version of the song with a music video and also an extended 7 minutes version where she falls in a jazzy and gospelish sound
