Here is an answer to the question regarding American directors opting for British actors..... British actors, for the most part, are so much better trained!!!!!! I love the manner in which they project a character..... so much insight into the character. Of course, the fact the Richard Armitage is a complete talent needs to be stated. Love him, love his baritone voice, love his humility...... North and South.... just binged watching that again last evening...... a flicker of an eye, an impercettible movement of the corner of the mouth...... awesome..... never overplayed.....

Love this actor/narrator. Such a powerful presence. Never heard of this when it came out where was i?
I want to listen to his reading of The Tattooist of Auschwitz. Love him in North and South. Classy man.
Unfortunately, great as his John Proctor may be, I am faithful to Daniel Day-Lewis as John Proctor. Ripped. My. Heart. Out. Winona Ryder was phenom. Casting was so, so brilliant. By DD-L, he owns those scenes and lines.

I read this play out loud in class in 6th grade many years ago (the teacher chose which kids read which parts). It was one of several we read, including "The Telltale Heart", "The Hound of the Baskervilles", "Diary of Anne Frank", "Anastasia", "Julius Caesar", "Macbeth", "Call of the Wild", and of course "The Iliad" and "The Odyssey". I wish I could go to London to see this, but money is something of a hindrance there... I know I would not want to be in the first two or three rows, though. XD

when he's talking about Into the Storm (5:52), he says when it's his birthday but I'm not sure if he says 22nd or 27th of August :o

Laura I listened -- several times -- to that specific part of this Richard Armitage interview (specifically 5.22). You said that you weren't ever able to understand just exactly what Richard was saying. You stated that you couldn't determine whether he said "August 22" or whether he said "August ???.
If you'll listen again -- very intently & very carefully -- especially beginning at 5.22, then then going all the way to the end of the interview, I can -- confidently -- assure you (with VERY few reservations) & almost "guarantee" that you -- actually -- WILL be able to clearly hear
wan additional time when he was clearly heard to be saying August 22.

Many fans think Richard Armitage could be or play James Bond. They're just saying that because he looks good and could maybe look like him. But I think Richard would be better off playing another actor from the old days who also loved playing bad guys, instead of James Bond. James Bond rather looked more like someone who was a good guy, so Richard wouldn't be so well suited as he looks to be like or play such a character, since he likes to play the bad guys or bad sides of a good guy.

Umm, we *have* been invaded and conquered, Richard. Normans? Tudors? Protestant rulers supplanting our rightful royalty?
