Hi, I’m hoping to use this technique for clay birds. Can you tell me the specifics (size, material) of the wire on the right? It looks most sturdy. I have a soldering iron, but have only used it for computer wire. Hopefully I can adapt.
First of all, it's best if your soldering iron is 100 watts. Soldering irons for circuit boards and that type of work may not get hot enough. The twisted wire is zinc coated and is 18 gauge thickness. The wire can be purchased at Ed Hoy International in Warrenville, IL. I hope this answers your question and thanks for your comment.
I made a rooster a few days ago and wanted to have it standing up but when I made the legs and wanted to solder them to the bird it kinda pulled the rimb loose (the outside of the bird, don't know how you call that). I tried making it stronger but it didn't work. The legs were strong enough but standing up is a problem, so now it's sitting on its butt, lol.
Wish I had seen these before I made my ridiculously sad flamingo standing in water with one knee bent. These legs are perfect. Thank you.
Glad the video was helpful for you. Thanks for visiting.
I'm really digging your channel. You've really given me concise techniques to take my hobby to the next level

It could be that your rooster was to big for the legs. You could try soldering wire around the rooster edge to strengthen it.
