- In this video I finally accept that the PNW weather is not going anywhere and I camp in the rain. I make mac n cheese grilled cheese on the back of my car. In the morning I make a latte!

New sub here. This was a nice little car camp. I sleep in my car when hiking and generally adventuring somewhere. I love the sound of rain on the car roof, I find it’s like white noise. Mac & cheese looked awesome. Take care and greetings from the UK.

@@lifeinmyelement I’m currently living in a Vauxall Zafira, I took the back bench seats out, put a mattress in and it’s like a mini camper now. I love the freedom of living out of a car, and living costs are super low. It’s tougher now the weather has turned here in the UK but looking forward to better weather next year. Do you live out of your car full time?

A small Tarp, some decent strength magnets, cut (or buy) a couple poles. A hank of paracord & a couple stakes. You can build a rain shelter attached to the rear of an SUV.
That tall back top gate is perfect for your size, such an easy setup with the tarp. 🐻☕

I'd would go to a hardware store. Get poles & clamps for the tarp. She had the right idea in tieing off the tarp on the left side. She should've down that on the right. Good video.

Life doesn't get much better than a toasted KD sandwich and you kicked it up nicely with the onion garlic and real cheese. Nice minimalist camping and with real coffee!! You got me hooked lol

Hi there. I use a reflective sheet to protect my dog in the car. I use magnets to fix the sheet up to save trying to set guy ropes up. Much easier trying to set a tarp up on your own, especially if windy.

❤ Rosa anything you like, like coffee is worth during right. I saw a can if busetlo Coffee that's the best. Seltzer machine I don't know much about them, but sounds good. Cold Pacific NW weather calls for a cool camping hack. The “rubbing alcohol paint can portable campfire”. See minivan camper gal’s channel from about 2 mos go. Great review and how-to. Smokeless and easy.

@@lifeinmyelement yea most of those candles say something about trimming the wick , but they don’t really explain the “why”. It happened to a friend , the candle was on a cabinet in the living room , the cinder (from the nite before) landed on a stack of magazines and just smoldered until after they left for work, about mid-morning it turned serious. The fireman said its “common” to them , and the “gel candles are the worst” . I was thinking good to know, had never heard of that

It's definitely difficult for me to connect with people who haven't at some point lived on the road. It's such a different lifestyle
@@lifeinmyelement yes. I started off watching his old boondocking documentary from so long ago and it's beautiful to see how he's changed into such a nice person. You can tell he was hurting back then. Now with everything going on I hope he finds some peace he truly deserves

Hi, hope your doing well. So I see that in rain and cold days the moisture collect inside the car and you can sleep well. But what about on hot days? Do you open the windows, or have some ventilation on those hot nights?
The classic KD can be improved upon greatly with a few additions but -- Annie's for the most part is a lot better. $1 to $1.50 more per box though. If not more depending where you are. I tend to wait for the 12 pack of KD to go on sale and then stock up.
HOWEVER, nothing beats purely homemade Mac n Cheese with whatever noodles you desire and a homemade cheese sauce started with a roux and completed with the proper cheeses. Also steamed cauliflower added is pretty damn good.
Try adding some brown sauce next time it's amazing.
I love my coffee over all others.

mac & cheese, grilled cheese looks good. Making in a Moka pot, reminds me, I need to get mine out and use it again, instead of always using my Nespresso.

Hiii couldn’t you put the tarp on top of the car to help absorb some of the rain & sounds ? Like a canopy above your car to lessen the noise? :)

can you talk about your mental process of going hike or spend the night alone, what do you do to prepare yourself? do you do a lot of research about the location, danger situation, backup plan, intuitions. I would love to do what you do as a female, however I keep psych myself out and is too afraid to putting myself out there!
I'll be honest... I don't do much thinking about it. I did in my first couple years of travel but now I'm just used to it. I'm always a little scared but I've found the more I think about it, the more scared I will get. I don't think the fear will ever leave
