A lack of historical understanding is a common problem among both international news media outlets and society. The following examples illustrate this issue: 1) Palestine is a geographical region spanning from the Mediterranean Sea to the eastern boundary of Jordan. 2) Jordan is the Arab partition of Palestine and Israel is the Jewish/minority partition 3) There are currently 22 sovereign Arab countries, more than 50 predominantly Muslim countries, and one Jewish state. 4) The borders of the sovereign states of Jordan, Israel, Lebanon, Syria, Egypt, and Iraq were established through their respective League of Nations' mandates/protectorates and subsequent peace treaties (uti possidetis juris). 5) Prior to 1948, Jewish inhabitants of Palestine, were often referred to as 'Palestinians' by outsiders. Arabs were referred to as Arabs. 6) Arabs didn't begin to identify as 'Palestinians' en masse until 1964, under the auspices of the P.L.O. 7) The Arab population in the coastal strip, Judea and Samaria has grown significantly since 1948. 8) The Jewish/Christian/minority population in the 22 Arab countries and 50+ predominately Muslim countries is in a state of collapse. 9)The existence of 22 Arab countries and over 50 Muslim-majority countries is a direct result of Arab colonialism (conquests) during the 7th and 8th century. 10) Israel is not a "colonial" entity. There was never a Jewish Empire in Europe or elsewhere. 11) Jews have their roots in Judea, Samaria, and ancient Israel, while those called Arabs trace their origins to the Arabian Peninsula. 12) Israel's system of government is a liberal parliamentary representative democracy with a pluralistic society, making it the only one of its kind in the Middle East. 13) Jews have lived on this land continuously for over 3200 years, making them the indigenous people. Christians arrived about 2000 years ago, and Muslims about 1400 years ago.

Why would they do that?

Get out!! Hamas is not welcome here!!!
Incorrect and ignorant. Did you even see who was there?? You want to deport the Irish and Jewish people standing against the senseless slaughter of our brothers and sisters in Palestine?
You've lost your mind if you think that thousands of Canadian university students and faculty members, including Jewish student groups, are Hamas.
Conflating our students and faculty members with Hamas is crazy.

You dont think this empowers the protesters. Making them feel is if Hamas is the good side. Really? Lol ok sure then.
Hamas are the reason people are dying. Isreal is just doing what they have to. Isreal keeps getting attacked by them.
Why would we allow a group into our country that want to hurt other people. Or at least they support it.
I mean isnt Ukraine attacking Russia back? And if they are. Arent innocent people dying there too?
If you knew your family was going to be attacked. And police refused to help. Wouldnt you try and protect them? And probly at the risk of hurting someone. Because that is what defense entails.
Sorry just being proactive.
These people don't even know what genocide is, or they would be supporting Israel.

In this city anything goes, LA handled it in 2 days
UCLA students are continuing to protest on their campus. The LA chief of police was removed for failing at his duties for hours, resulting in over 2 dozen injuries to students by counterprotestors.
I wish all of the homeless people would camp there too. They should grant them permission that would probably help clear it out

And during that time, none of them ask the Hamas to free the Israeli hostages, which (they all know) would end the conflict. But none of those protestors dare to ask for this. Disgraceful.
Account joined 3 Mar 2024, you're talking about ~100 people. We're talking about millions. And I have heard multiple speakers condemn it multiple times, so you don't even know what you're talking about.

I'm enjoying my pizza and cold beer at home. ..
Kudos to the student protesters. Israel is an apartheid state and now it seems to be doing worse. These protesters are calling for boycotts and divestments as a response, specifically for UofT to divest itself of its financial connections. They have a clear list of demands, a clear list of targets, written materials, etc. Their encampment is on space that is highly visible but doesn't obstruct access to the university. Taken together, they're doing their job. By contrast, UofT is escalating the situation in a way that's completely disproportionate to the scale and nuisance done by the protest. Shame on UofT for caving to its corporate donors without even making a good faith effort to negotiate their way out of this situation.
These students are participating in the long tradition of student protest -- what are you doing?
Or, just expel them as they're pro-terrorists.

@@tim19621 A deadline issued by the university? I had barely noticed. That isn't a valid justification for force to be used on our students. Hence the requests for injunctions.
