    You freaked me out at the bridge when you don't have a camera strap leaning over the water and opened your viewscreen with one hand!

    • @Imagezone61
      @Imagezone61 Год назад +1

      Yikes, me too! After having had my nearly new camera slip out of my hand while under a bridge, and sliding down the cement embankment for about 40 ft. and grinding the bottom of the camera and lens flat. It still worked fine, but was cosmetically ruined. Always use a strap now.

    Shot for over 40 years as a hobby. Fairly basic mid-price kit. You do a very nice job of conveying information and ideas. I love watching different approaches and techniques. My #1 tip, from amateur, for better pics. Know your gear top to bottom, inside and out. Gear shines when you are familiar with it. A question... I have developed a weird habit over the years. When using the viewfinder, I completely de-focus/blur my vision so I see nothing but shapes in the frame. This somehow helps me get really good composition. Have you ever heard of this? Thanks for your work and your videos.

    I really liked the bridge with the out of focus tree foliage in the foreground. Created that window that instantly drew my eyes to the bridge and the scene beyond. Great alternative to use of leading lines.

    Ian, I can never understand why some photographers dislike ICM and yet are happy to accept the abstraction of moving water or clouds created by long exposure. Of the images you took in this video, I liked your ICM image the most - it was the most interesting and creative shot of the bunch.

Looks worthwhile from a weight perspective but hopefully not a compromise optically. Anyway, greetings from Oz!

      @E2MC2 Год назад +1

      Ian, Please do. You gave me quite a fright when leaning over the bridge. Like you, neck straps bother me. Now that I use M4/3 cameras, a wrist strap works well. Because the clip system, the Peak Cuff works well as I can easily add the strap when needed.

    "How Pros Photograph the Landscape Differently!"
    They are in it for the money; which means they must sell something that involves landscapes. Magazine photographers, for instance, need portrait (vertical) format with plenty of room at the top for the masthead (title of the magazine and other parts). Be mindful of the limitations of CMYK offset press. Keep important image elements away from the edges that are going to end up trimmed. The density range of the printed page is much less than either film or digital images.
