It seems like there are a lot of gaffers and small houses that are upset about the 600c Mark ii. A lot of them still haven't made their money back on the original as it's only been out a year and a half and there are loads of people listing it for peanuts on share grid. Coming out with a Mark ii only a relatively short time later for the same price as the original really devalues their investment. Tough situation all around really, and Aputure certainly isn't the first or only company to do this. I feel like they should've just made a new unit in the 800 to 1000 watt range and upped the price to reflect the improvement instead of completely superseding the 600C for the same market price. All that said, the output of the 600C pro was really its biggest flaw, so that additional 30 to 40% brightness is wonderful to have. Work depending, I'd love to add one or two to my kit.
The 600c pro is still a great light, so I don’t know why anyone would be upset about it. When they bought it, it must have filled a need in their workflow and has worked great, so what has changed? It is the same quality, just less output than the II. It’s the same thing when a new camera comes out or goes on sale-it’s still the same great tool that was purchased for a reason. So now I see the 600c pro II as either being a great key light when extra output is needed or as a light to push thru a window with the f10 fresnel while the original 600c would still act as a great key light. Also, I hope you don’t take anything I said personally!
@@TylerEdwards not at all! I agree with everything you said. I think for the people that have complaints it’s more along the lines of DPs are now not going to be satisfied with the “old” or “outdated” version even though it is very functional like you said.
Please for the love of God, if you test the 600cii vs the 600d - please test them in a softbox. It’s totally pointless comparing lights where beam angle is a variable
Great vid brother, what’s your thoughts on upgrading from C70 to the C400? Worth it or not? On the fence. Also, would love to see eventually a Komodo X vs C400 comparison.
The biggest fail is that it was not a full frame DGO sensor.. dont care about the rest.. Ill just stay with my two C70s my R5c and R3 camera until they make the C500 mark 3 so I can get a proper A cam.. so sad Btw.. no autofocus in 120 fps? what? canon come on... people buy it to use the autofocus or they would get the Komodo or black magic cameras
@@TylerEdwards HAHA you are right.. but it depends where that DR is... I love that the C70 holds hightlights super well compared to the R5C and the C500 mark 2... I obviously havent tried the C400 yet :P but I was sad to hear that they didnt figured out how to make a powerfull enogh processor to make a full frame DGO sensor :)

I also have become a fan of aputure. Looks like another great c light.

Definitely planning on that!

I think the C400 is a massive leap from the C70. I’d love to compare the two cameras!

DGO would’ve made rolling shutter much worse. Even if it has 13 stops of DR, that’s plenty. If it’s not, it’s the operator lol
