One of my favourite parts of this song is on the second part of Freddie’s piece where Roger harmonises on “to my soul” The gravelly quality of his voice against Freddie’s sublime voice is beautiful - blink and you miss it but once heard you can’t unhear it.
The song that got me into Rock music. Even now, listening to this for what feels like the millionth time I can't help but sit back in awe and marvel at this masterpiece. Brilliant description! Must be the second best intro of any pop music track (top place of course to Voodoo Child!). Daltrey's vocals are so, so iconic but that first verse is true 'hairs on the back of neck' job!!
@DavidThornton-ej4gd I love how the synthetic starts it up, usually it joins in later. It's like an eery wakeup call then the piano settles in and the whole band comes in. This song could have so easily been some basic pop shit but it's got soul and so many innovations for the 70s. Its like a wakeup call
Thanks, CSI, for have introduced this song in my life 💙. Thanks, Marcela Montellato, for showing this song in the Instagram stories and remind me how much great this song is!
So very creative. A drum set, a synthesiser, some guitars with overdrive, sustain and feedback, and then finally, a violin solo to finish it off. Never knew who it was. His name is { Dave Arbus } and he is 82 years old now, going on 83. I have eclectic taste in music, but deep down, I really have a thing for piano, and violin. I'm not quite sure where this comes from. I may be a reincarnated person. Most likely, it's because they are wondrous instruments for classic musical expression. The piano and the violin that is. They are, and will { always } be classical instruments. I'm thankful that we have this song forever. Aren't you ? The outro violin solo always made me see Gypsies dancing around a fire at night-time. Close your eyes and listen to it closely. Can you see them ? I believe You can. There they are. They are dancing very passionately, and they have been drinking. They are not half-hearted people these Gypsies. They're liquored up, they're down for it, and they're All In. But, after the fire dies down these Gypsies will need to get some rest.
“Out here in the fields, I fight for my meals.” That part always makes me cry. It reminds me of those dark days of living in poverty and literally having to fight people just to get a bite to eat. I’m now in a better place, but I always make sure to never forget about those days of being a young man and struggling to get by.
This song will always go down in history as one of the greatest rock songs of all time. Still is used in tv and shows often, even today. Everyone recognizes that sound when they hear it :)
These visuals are out of the world. The music already is from another.

Used to listen to this every morning while entering my high school campus I always felt special walking in crowded halls in a school with 4,000 other students each living their very own lives dealing with their own problems and every single one of them just trying to get through this part of life that marks the beginning of the rest of it
Those keys ay the beginning...epic every time!!
Anybody that knows music will know the who this song is a classic
"From the creators of *TOY STORY* comes an epic of miniature proportions."
YES!!! That was the first time I heard this song as a kid 🙌🏼😄
Which movie trailer?
@@ryanc1045 *A BUG'S LIFE*
I was just sitting here wondering if I was completely misremembering first hearing this on the Bugs Life trailer. Holy crap. I was like 5 years old and now I’m 30 and I think of bugs life everytime I hear this
The visuals are perfect for this 70’s epic soundtrack.

This is my all-time favorite song. They're all absolute geniuses. If only we got to see the original lineup live far into the future. I'd love to see Pete (and the rest of the band) revisit Lifehouse all these years later.
The storytelling in this song is absolutely phenomenal. I'd love to see Pete's unfinished ideas adapted into a movie.
It was adapted into a radio show !?
Depression was discovered in 1972.
People in 1971:
Surely it can't be a coincidence this was released in 1971 then
It's because nobody could make a better song.
Lol That explains Nick Drake's Pink Moon and David Bowie's Rock n Roll Suicide was released in 1972.
Wait so nobody was depressed when ww2 happened
@@zackzallie8735 nick drake is legend
Pure history of rock. The lyrics and the music are totally great. This song will be remembered forever. It will never be an old-fashioned song. Thanks THE WHO for this song 👍👏👏👏👏👏👏.
Out here in the fields
I fight for my meals
I get my back into my living
I don't need to fight
To prove I'm right
I don't need to be forgiven
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Don't cry
Don't raise your eye
It's only teenage wasteland
Sally, take my hand
We'll travel south 'cross land
Put out the fire and don't look past my shoulder
The exodus is here
The happy ones are near
Let's get together before we get much older
Teenage wasteland
It's only teenage wasteland
Teenage wasteland, oh, yeah
Teenage wasteland
They're all wasted
🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
The fact Townsend wrote this in response to what he saw at Woodstock is special.
You look like Deji girlfriend
Woodstock was awesome.
@@platinumt3425 Don't know who that is. But I looked it up and she looks cute, so thank you, I guess. lol.
One of my favourite parts of this song is on the second part of Freddie’s piece where Roger harmonises on “to my soul”
The gravelly quality of his voice against Freddie’s sublime voice is beautiful - blink and you miss it but once heard you can’t unhear it.
Jack black's over here 👈
Legends say Joe Pera is still dancing.
One of the greatest songs ever but this intro might be THE greatest ever. My god.
This song is SOO 70s/80s it’s AMAZING!
I don't even like CSI NY that much, but when I played the song in every opening it made me excited.
This might be the coolest lyric video I’ve ever seen. Props to whoever animated this.
The music sounds like "best song ever"🥺❤️
Das ist der beste Song ever von The Who!
One of the greatest song in rock history!!!
It's the best one for me!!!
いいですね~落ち込んだ時聞きたくなります。
Some songs last a lifetime never get old and get better with time.
The song that got me into Rock music. Even now, listening to this for what feels like the millionth time I can't help but sit back in awe and marvel at this masterpiece. A plethora of instruments and finnominal vocals along with the amazing talents that performed them. This is everything I love in music perfectly rolled up into a nearly 6 minute power drive. A song and experience like none other, it never gets old.
What memories!
What a masterclass in Music!
What genius!
What a Band!
Just why couldn't we stay in this era?? 😢
Thanks, CSI, for have introduced this song in my life 💙.
Thanks, Marcela Montellato, for showing this song in the Instagram stories and remind me how much great this song is!
I hope that one day, we will all find a "Sally" who will take our hand and "travel south cross land" with us. Freedom and hopefulness.
I get goosebumps every time the song starts, this is such a cool song dude
This is one of the best videos I’ve seen in all these 50 years! fantastic!
Happy 50th anniversary to Baba O'Riley and the album Who's Next! Can't belive it's been this long
So very creative.
A drum set, a synthesiser, some guitars with overdrive, sustain and feedback,
and then finally, a violin solo to finish it off.
You said it perfectly. Couldn’t agree more!
Wonderfully made video for a great song like this. The visuals fit the music perfectly.
The break or whatever technical portion that song is called at 2:00 - 2:40 is one of the most beautiful pieces of music I've ever heard.
Thanks Joe Pera. Love this new song.
This lyric video was a perfect fit for such an iconic song! It even looks like it was actually taken from the early 70s!
One of the greatest ever songs by The Who.
“Out here in the fields, I fight for my meals.”
That part always makes me cry. It reminds me of those dark days of living in poverty and literally having to fight people just to get a bite to eat.
I’m now in a better place, but I always make sure to never forget about those days of being a young man and struggling to get by.
This is awesome! Maybe 2020 isn't so bad
God bless The Who. Greatest rock band EVER!
Bro what a freakin awesome and hardworked lyrical video. Thank a ton man
This song will always go down in history as one of the greatest rock songs of all time. Still is used in tv and shows often, even today. Everyone recognizes that sound when they hear it :)
Also love reign over me
I just heard this on the radio and instantly shazamed it. Sounded so beautiful:)
This song probably saved my life.
I'm literally Attached to this song, specially the last part.
WHEN YOU'RE YOUNG AND DISCOVER THIS MUSIC LIKE ME, COMING BACK A COOL TEN YEARS LATER YOU CAN'T HELP BUT SHED A TEAR. LONG LIVE THE WHO
0:31 the best part begins!
