Shout out to Meshach Taylor. I grew up watching him on Nickelodeon, on Ned's Declassified. On that show he was a teacher then got promoted to school principal within a few seasons. I always thought that was cool, because shows back then didn't do that stuff for black characters unless they were the stars. Ned's also had a gay teacher on the show, but it never felt out of place. Nowadays everything seems so forced and things like race or sexuality define characters, but growing up the character came first.

It didn’t surprise me to hear he repeated the same jokes because it was only a short period of time between the two. He did talk about how the writers strike hurt everyone. Another comedian explained how comedians may have writers who go to other comedy shows to get ideas for new material and will give out a joke that was “well” influenced by other told jokes. In this case, he just didn’t realize the original joke would surface. I guess it’s good for comedians to make comedy records. It’s easier to copy write. If another comedian wants to “cover or sample ” any copy written joke, they must pay a fee or face that cease and desist. I used to love that show. But Cedric told it better. Just like Whitney sang Will always love you better than Dolly. I love both versions. 😊

My wife had her own business building sets and taking pictures of people in them for ig, she had this before all the selfie galleries. Next thing you know, all these people in Atlanta where we live started copying my wife, and she got tired of it and go out the business. She had her stuff in xxl magazine, hip hop weekly, afro punk even did an article on her. And lots of people ended just stealing her stuff. She's like, all I'm doing is giving them material to steal from me, she said she was done getting other people wealthy off her hard work.
Should've hired a publicist then featured a prominent public figure to market the operation. There's nothing which prevents another group from copying. If you were first, there should've been more in place to protect the brand. If you lacked branding and brand awareness, it was bound to fail by imitators.

Cedric is the type that sits on RUclips all day. researching very old comedians that probably passed on stealing their jokes, knowing that no one remembers these people. so he thinks he can get away with it.

My wife had her own business building sets and taking pictures of people in them for ig, she had this before all the selfie galleries. Next thing you know, all these people in Atlanta where we live started copying my wife, and she got tired of it and go out the business.
She had her stuff in xxl magazine, hip hop weekly, afro punk even did an article on her. And lots of people ended just stealing her stuff.
She's like, all I'm doing is giving them material to steal from me, she said she was done getting other people wealthy off her hard work.
Should've hired a publicist then featured a prominent public figure to market the operation. There's nothing which prevents another group from copying. If you were first, there should've been more in place to protect the brand. If you lacked branding and brand awareness, it was bound to fail by imitators.

Yes, lots of people build sets, but the business model of building sets for regular people is unique, because sets typically cost thousands of dollars to build, so an average person can't get one built for them.
Plus the 90's throw back design of my wife's sets were unique, and she was doing it back in 2016 before it became big.

MANY comics HAVE done this. Took jokes from obscure movies and tv shows and did them in their stand up. Andrew Dice Clay stole one from a very obscure movie called “Super Soul Brother.” Bernie Mac stole one from an unknown comedian who played the Apollo ages ago. So he’s right

I grew up watching it. So I knew that joke & I knew it when Ced told it but I just looked at it as one of those jokes everybody tells..
If you google “has Richard Pryor ever borrowed a joke”, there’s an article from 2016(?) by Vulture that comes up about 10 comedians who borrowed jokes, and who they got them from. It’s been happening. I do understand that the internet is the internet and it does what it does. Just not sure how Katt Williams started a fire about it.

The comedians name was Meshach Taylor. He played on a tv show "Designing Women" in the 1980's. He died of colon cancer in 2014 at the age of 67yrs. It's sad that he's not here to call out Cedric for stealing his joke. Katt was right about Ced. Sad!
