Our names are Jmayel, Sacha & Story. We traveled to Siargao island with Jmayel's mum & Story's grandma just before the Global pandemic that sent the whole planet into quarantine. We got stranded for months and fell in love with island life, now we want to make that life more permanent.

Yes the lakatan variety is eaten raw for dessert.
Saba variety is ofter cooked for turon, banana cue, ginataang halo halo(binignit in the visayas) and banana fritters.

The rooster is a natural alarm clock for me. I miss the sound of it every morning. I love living in the countryside of the Philippines away from the bustling and stressful city life. Eat cheap fresh fruits, veggies and fish, which is very expensive if its sold in Manila.

Loved the vid. But just wanted to add, instead of Burmese, the homes in your video are actually what we call “Spanish-style” houses in the Philippines. Tho you won’t see a lot of them everywhere in the country anymore, many of them are still found in the provinces area and/preserved in the cities and tourist area. I grew up in Pampanga, Philippines before moving to Canada and I remember living in one of those houses. Really brought back memories lol thank you for this :)
Also, there’s a resort in Bataan founded and developed by Mr. Jose Acuzar called Las Casas de Filipinas de Acuzar. They preserved certain historical buildings from each province of Luzon and put them all together in one area ( by the beach) and keep it open to the public. You guys should check it out ! Awesome place to learn Filipino history and still be close to mountains and sea

An amazing video showing the peaceful and innocence vives of many towns of the Philippines. Would it not for some politicians thinking of developnig one area for tourism but actually served as their palace to exploit the place detrimental to the locals who were lived there long time ago

Being colonized by Spain for more than 300 years, and occupied by the US for half decade most of the houses of well off families in the cities and provinces bore similar designs to Spanish and American houses of old time. Also some Philippine dialects have same or similar Spanish words like puerta/entrada - door, mesa - table, kutsara-tablespoon, kumidor-dining area to name a few with letter C change to K.

The town of Carrascal in Surigao del Sur is so nice with some Spanish style houses. I love the beach and the atmosphere. Ita good for a vacation.

Well Here in the Philippines, they are our natural alarm clock in the morning. They usually make a sound around 5 to 6 AM.

@@SharonLee2600 There's a saying that if the Rooster crows at 10 in the evening it will be a peaceful and calm night ahead. Usually, the First crow calls at 1am and hourly until 5am

As a child of Haïtian born parents, I was told when the roosters crow all day & all night, it’s because it’s a wake up call at every 5am in every time zone. J-Mayel and Sacha, you were born in Europe; had you been born in Myanmar where J’s mother is from, it wouldn’t bother you as you become accustomed to the noise. I live to an airport, the noise doesn’t bother me anymore.

I wish the Philippines would retain that old architecture of the 'bahay na bato' (house of stone translation): the balustrades, ventenillas, and the capiz shell sliding windows, open ventilation and elevated living areas. A house with no air conditioning unit is the most ideal for me. Natural ventilation is good for health.

Did you guys know that even in the cities, even in Metro Manila, you will hear the roosters every early morning till 8am or later and yes, anytime of the day like they're asking each other how each is doing.. Later, it'll give a comforting feeling that all is well in the world. Hope that Story can experience the games that Pinoy kids grew up playing like PIKO or hopskotch, TUMBANG PRESO , LUKSONG TINIK OR LUKSONG KALABAW. Using a slingshot and Chinese garter are exciting games!
