I'm a grown man in tears over poly styrene. Long live X Ray Spex. Will love them until the day I die.
no worries in being tears over anyone one! ever! esp someone as influential as Poly..take care!
Only album I ever bought where every track could have been a single in them days no wonder they didn't follow it up till years later no one could make a better second one rip Polly legend
I played germ free adolescents the single to a younger neighbour today she was that's amazing didn't see that as a new release I said no it was 1978 she was Ur joking what a tune told her to listen to the album she just txt back I'm am a posuer n I don't care what more can you say
MELANCHOLY IN THE AGE OF KALI IS ONE OF X RAY SPEX BEST!!!!! A FUKKIN GEM!!!!!!!
Me too
One thing I regret in my life is I never saw X-Ray Spex live.
Me too
Shame the sound and video are slightly out of time. Doesn't take anything away from the legend that is Poly. Another amazing gig I missed, hopefully she'll be somewhere with Joe Strummer, Malcolm Owen and Pete Shelley playing god's arse off.
Poly was a force of nature ❤ I was living a couple of miles up the coast in East Sussex and will never forget bursting into tears when it was announced on local radio shed passed on..I wish she could've truly known how truly inspirational she was to do many people ,especially us little working class girls/ women in the 70' s trying to survive what was then a really sexist British culture...she just paved the way for so many artists like Babes In Toyland ,L7 ,Bikini Kill she was amazing !
She was so far ahead of her time they still haven't caught up....RIP Poly. I listened to Germ Free Adolescent so many times I had to buy another copy.
Even with Poly being widely loved I still think she's underrated and deserves much more attention on how much of a visionary and great singer she was. Rest easy Poly ❤
I loved Poly Styrene as a kid in the 70's. The music has really stood the test of time. RIP Poly
Saw them at the Roundhouse in the 70s as teenager still at school, supported by Adam and the Ants. Then went to this concert had a great time. Poly was in top form. Happy memories
Brought tears to my eyes. I hate it when something perfect comes to an end.
That sax still gives me goosebumps !
They just don't have bands with random ,raw visceral sax in them like this anymore..It seemed to be very much a British thing too in the punk/ post punk scene didn't it..BowWowWow & Ian Dury & The Blockheads both had amazing sax
@@sophiew1967 and don't forget Essential Logic, and the Cravats.
I hope everyone at that show appreciated the once in a lifetime talent that Poly was
I was 14 when Polly came on the seen, both Polly and the band blew me away, so sad Polly's life, her lyrics were 20 years ahead of time, still love them rip Polly you was a true prophet you will last till the end of time
Saw her in 78 but Pollys voice still brings a smile to my face even to this day. RIP lovely lady ❤
So jealous that I wasn't there for this show. Poly is the only female Punk icon I've never seen live. So great to see that she and the band still had the goods 30 years later.
I had no idea this existed. What a revelation.
Had a ticket for this gig but got stuck in Malaga Airport and missed it. Fortunately my daughter still went with all my mates and had a ball. Still her best ever gig. Thank F@@K i got to see her years previously. R.I.P. Poly, miss you dearly XXX
WOW, glorious rendition oh Bondage. The pipes!!!!!
I just seen the documentary by her daughter on Showtime. She was beautiful and very intelligent.
VJing and projections by Aston Walker. Poly was my good friend and she loved my work at the Roundhouse. Miss you big sis, we had some awesome laffs
R I P Poly Styrene memories of 70's punk, still listen to your music now.
One of my favourite bands ever. Love it!

Only one word is required to describe Poly Styrene ... LEGEND!!
Can't get over that beautiful face and beautiful hair!!!
She was absolutely gorgeous.

God damm, why am I fuckin crying right now?
Because she’s gone. We wish she could have stayed.

Too special for this world.. mass love Poly.
Shame the audio is out of sync. :(
I just watched all of that and didn't want it to end seen them live in 1978 they were great then but that was amazing rip Polly Celeste u can carry these great tunes on been told u sound like your mom do a tour give it a shot like your mom said look after the family business we all love to here these live at a gig again
Really sad I never got to see her live was too young in 1977 and then missed her comeback - was way ahead of her time
R.I.P. our kid. Big LOVE.
Good Lord Poly was a hottie.
first band i ever went to see,at Erics, liverpool. What a great club.X-ray specs didnt turn up so The cure played instead.I was 15 years old.
Such an underrated band. Someone should fix the audiosync though, there won't be anymore of these. RIP Polly Styrene.
Polly Sterene::.ur the greatest punk lady n legend of Mama of punk rock arena..love u..miss u..**pendita durhaka**april 2019.
Poly styrene was awsome. I'm glad she got some well earned love back from the crowd. Even if this isn't the best demonstration of her music- I really like this performence. It's really cool of her to come back and preform these songs agein... RIP
God bless you girl..X
Yes without any doubt, Poly had a unique stage presence. Ideal for the Punk era, RIP Poly an icon of the punk rock era
God bless you keep on singing up there🏴👍
My goodness wish I was old enough to see her back then :(
one of the best videos ever! Class!
Identity Best song she is Queen of punk
They were my favourite band in the day 1 album was a tragedy she was a true great so original will never see the like again rip my love
SO SO Joyous to have discovered here in 2021!! And I lived right near the Roundhouse 1975-77...must have heard her through the walls!! Thank you POLY STYRENE!!
Loved x ray spex in the 70s on top of the pops and always wondered what happened to Poly Styrene in the years after they disappeared of the music scene. Have been reading the book Dayglo during lockdown. The mystery solved. RIP Poly.
Check out the new documentary her daughter made. It’s very well done.
The Queen of Punk RIP Poly💙
The tempo for Identity is a bit too fast and catches Polly out a bit at one point. She's singing it normal speed, but the band's going a bit faster. They should slow down for her, she shouldn't be playing catch up with them.
Amazing.
Tucking brilliant
First saw theses on rar gig in Victoria park when her two daughters came on and sung bondage with her god i felt old
She only has one daughter.
Love this - I have all there records, singles on coloured vinyl - took Identity to the school disco back in the day 🙂. Love this gig, so wish I'd gone. Who are the band? Any chance the video and audio can be aligned or is it just me? Thanks for sharing regardless.
I don't know why it plays out of synch, I'm sure it was ok on the DVD, but it's been a long time since I watched it on the DVD, I ripped the DVD a long time ago and only watched it the once back then. The only member of the band I know is Sid Truelove on drums. He was the one who gave me the DVD. Thought I'd share it on RUclips as I haven't seen it anywhere for sale (it was a burnt disk off a computer).
Poly the best in the Punk Rock scene !!!
Some things don't get better with age
❤❤❤❤ fantastic
Awesome
Miss you Poll x
rest in punk Poly ! #pioneer
Jesus. Look how much ass she kicked after all those years!!! So glad they got this on film!
Rockn`n Roll History. Thanx for sharing this makes me crying...
🤔
Girl power ! Thanks to these ladies for rebelling !
👍💖
Killer sax x ray underrated it’s like the body snatchers in the ska scene
Her voice is beautiful
She trained as an opera singer.
@@glennmorris371well.. ummm .. ok
I love that so many men are in the crowd rockin out!!! punk has always empowered women!!! OI OI OI!!!
I couldn't agree with you more👍it was a very equalising non sexist movement ..I.remember being 10 in 1977 and thought punk was the best thing ever..still throw myself around the kitchen cooking my dinner in my little house in Cheshire to The Slits at the age of 54 .lol.Who wants to grow old respectively..not me !👍
@@sophiew1967 Dude you were going to punk shows at age 10? That’s legendary brother!
Great music! She was right about plastic society and it's even worse now! Music this wouldn't be popular now!
RIP poly
Punk love momma poly...
I went to this. It was like a religious experience x
Lucky man.

If you can't pogo to this you're in the wrong place!
Poly era muy sexy...R.I.P
This version of Polly was a fucking babe!
Wow,her voice still sounded just as good as it did the first time around!! Who was in the band with her,any original members?
Was there any original members apart from Polly Sid from RUBELLA BALLET was on drums.
I would think it's just Polly, without knowing the members here. Sid gave me the DVD himself which I ripped to upload.
Yes, Paul Dean on Bass
The audio is way off
Fuckin A Right! half cast is beautiful
Up Yours lol
Nice rack indeed. RIP
🙄🙄🙄🙄
PUNK en mayúsculas
RIP Jak Airport
If only this were actually in sync. 😢
Ten dislikes from people that have no idea how punk started.
Poly Styreneは永遠 From Jpan
Great show. RIP Poly. Should we know who the two women are joining Poly for the Bondage encore?
It was her two daughters
I think they play in a Spanish punk band
One with bright coloured dreads is Zillah Minx - singer of Rubella Ballet, other is Celeste Bell, Poly's daughter.
Is that the original X-Ray Spex line up?
No
No wonder. They don’t sound as good. Not at all.
😬😬
