We have been on Vision class ships a few times. There are great things about them, but they have few balconies. That makes the price jump from ocean view cabins to balcony much steeper than on newer RCL ships.
I am a travel agent so let me explain a few points about this special category of an Oceanview category. It is category 1M as a "Spacious Oceanview" and there are 8 cabins of this category on decks 7 and 8. Not just one each as you mentioned. They are identified on the website and travel agent booking engines and include a view of the larger window, and its noted no balcony for outside access. As always, you do a great job of providing good, sensible and practical and helpful suggestions. A veteran cruiser like yourself knows the finer points of cruise travel you share with your viewers. Thank you for a solid presentation on every blog, and I hope to meet you on board a future cruise. Maybe consider a cruise out of Tampa, my homeport, to change up the Liberty and Freedom mix. Was just on Enchantment…(I guess it’s essentially the same ship) in room 8600 - about the same one you’re in. Only thing was that the pool deck was one room above. The atrium area does stay “active” until around 11’ish, though the doors do cut out a significant amount of noise. I found the shower very small, could barely turn around in it but certainly an upgrade over the regular Ocean View staterooms.
Hi Brandon - me again, finally at the end of watching your latest reviews! My most recent “past life” was ultimately as a travel agent since my head was always into cruises and ships! Thankfully I got out before the Covid Chaos! I’m fortunate enough that I hang onto “all things cruise ship” and even pre-internet I collected books on ship histories, but I’m fortunate enough to have hung onto my Agent Handbooks (no longer done anymore☹️) so I quick looked up your cabin - actually there are 8 of them - all Deck 7, four Port, four Starboard! And my most recent trip on Navigator I had my first guarantee junior suite and was fortunate enough to get one of your reviewed “bump outs” - so much storage I spent the cruise looking for where I’d put things! And on older ships - so glad to see your full review of Vision! I started on Sovereign and Monarch when they were front-running, one of a kind mega ships - Vision has obvious similarities - still think the Centrums are breathtaking, then Brilliance and Jewel - you’ve reviewed Brilliance - gorgeous ships as well. Voyager, Explorer and Navigator, Allure and Symphony. After watching your review, I wouldn’t hesitate to go “backwards”! Thanks for all the reviews!
Hi, my friend and I were doing the same cruise in the exact same cabin as yours, Cabin 7582 on the opposite side. Can’t say we really noticed the noise and the heavy doors are closed later in the evening so you don’t hear anything from Centrum then. Agree with you about the coffee table and the shower room could definitely do with brighter lighting. Overall we really liked our room though, the huge window was a lovely feature.
This looks like a decent room actually - huge window! Your tip about the power bank is exactly what I do when I can't get bedside charging - I thought I was the only one and being really innovative...! Ha I agree re: the coffee table - extra furniture in a cruise ship cabin just isn't required!
Nice cabin with some quirky elements. Seems like no one measured correctly when converting areas to cabin space. 😂 Always have to check and recheck the wording of ocean view vs ocean view balcony. It’s also tricky when it says promenade balcony. So many choices. We gravitate to the word ocean, or balcony. But you wound up with a great room!
That is the largest window I've ever seen in an Oceanview cabin! Weird that you can't fit the two night stands between the beds. I wonder if you could if the couch was smaller? Another great cabin tour!
I would have expected a walk out balcony or at least some notation in the booking that it is only a window. The room could certainly use a layout improvement. But - you're sailing the Mediterranean!!

Even though the ship is older, I don't believe the balcony rooms are that smaller but have never thought about this. I know on the old Majesty and Empress this was he case so might be here too. Have you done another cruise to compare it?

Agree, those cabins near Centrum are noisy. Especially when they are hosting a party.
We stayed in a room like that in April. The window was amazing but the noise was Terrible. I would never stay in a cabin like that again!!

It's actually the indent where the beds are isn't wide enough. It's like they made a unique to amd tried to use standard furniture.

Did you have a card to get into your room or have they changed that?
I did! They have a sea pass card that has the swipe feature to it.
I just traveled on Vision of the Seas in April. I had a balcony room and I hated it. Too small, especially the bathroom.

Hopefully they didn’t charge you for a balcony. This is obviously an ocean view room. They should call it an “ocean view mini suite”
