Went down to Las Vegas to see The Sphere. Was walking from the airport to a motel and crossed an empty lot. I looked up and the sign said something like: "This is where 60 people were slaughtered by a sniper from a hotel room across the street." Before I finished the sentence, I ducked. Even though this happened 2 years before, it could happen anywhere here anytime: at an iHop, a mall, a grammar, middle or high school, a post office, a corner of a street, or at a electronic festival with hundreds of people dancing for joy.
It is heartbreaking and will only get worse in the US sadly. I feel much safer in Mexico (which Americans ignorantly state is more dangerous). I don't fit in here, I abhor guns, violence and racism. Sending a hug from a kind American, soon to be expat. 🩵
💯! When I visited the month of Nov., it was very clear to me that, in general, the avg Colombian is MUCH healthier than her/his US counterpart. I esp. noticed this in people my age, 66, or older. They look great! Where many of my friends my age in US have increasing medical challenges, and often financial ones come with them, pathetically. For many of the reasons you so eloquently and enthusiastically share, I too am looking forward to living my life in Colombia, if they will have me. Hopefully July. 💜
Sounds like as long as GOP n MAGA exist in the US,you ain´t moving back there.Love your conclusions for not moving back, especially coming from a young lady from a red state like Nabraska.
You should stop denying your roots and go back to the US, you would propably have a much better life there than here. America has so much to offer and it's mostly comfort, great democracy, great of everything really. In medellin you can find a lot of the crime and violence that you hate but mostly on the poor areas so it's segregated, however it can happen to your neighborhood as well soon since the national perception is that armed groups will get to take main cities in the next years. Medellin seems really nice today but you have no idea of the history behind those mountains or the stories you can find in every comuna where violence is part of there heritage. If you are not from Colombia nd understand how the violence dynamic works, I would suggest you go back to home, cause her you wille ventually feel confused and dazed.
I'm an American and can not disagree with you more. I would never send children to school here for fear of them getting shot by a random psycho with an AR-15, Americans are racist, rude, selfish and hide it all behind a fake cloak of Christianity. Jesus himself would be appalled.
i moved to thailand and it was the single greatest decision ive ever made for not only my physical health but my mental as well.i moved at 29 too so im not and old man
Great video🎉
Great video, Lauren. I've been in Quito for 7 years and feel the same way you do on these issues.
