“A cabaret staple, Craig Carnelia's Flight has been recorded by musical theatre legends Ben Platt, Betty Buckley, and Sutton Foster, to name a few. Dr. Ryan Murphy, arranger, wrote this choral version for Dr. Cherilyn Worthen and the Utah Valley University Women's Choir. The dramatic lyrics are the most important element of this piece and are shared equally between the sopranos and altos. Murphy artfully scaffolds the story of "yearning, reaching, and dreaming" by using text-painting, unresolving cadence points, and soaring vocal lines. The lush accompaniment adds an even richer layer to this poignant piece.”
