I’m loving these 30 second chess lessons. I know about Opposition but explaining it by saying “Don’t push while the king is looking at the pawn” is a really nifty shorthand for remembering the technique
A King personally escorting his pawn to protect them from the opposing King and promote them into a Queen would be such a good climax to a show

You can't lose even on time if the opponent has nothing except his king, if be takes your pawn it's going to be a draw too instead of stalemate

Fun fact: For advanced position; Opposition can also apply diagonally, sideways, and long distance (like king oppose king 3 squares away)

The king won’t be able to move left because it can’t move into check
If you get a queen but the king is 1 square away, he gets your queen....
It's perfectly fine to push as long as it's one block away from the King.
The way i do is faster, my king just stand close to the pawn all moment and never goes in front of it

Thats the point. It's as a technque that you can use in a very specific end-game scenario.
