this tune is so weird but so addictive! Miss my clubbing days of 1997-2001 was very lucky to catch UK garage in its prime. Shouts out to all who were teens in the late 90's, who remember taping tunes off the pirate stations using TDK blank cassette tapes bought from woolworths, (still have them somewhere in the loft). Ealing Boulevard, Leicester Square Equinox, Limelight at Shaftsbury Avenue. West London BOOOOOOOOOM SELECTAAAAAA!
I’m a 15 year old girl live in the uk and my parents where playing this and I was like wow this sounds sooo good bust it on my speakers straight away 😭
"When facing your enemy, you have to aim for his weakest point. Use the Biddha Finger ACCURATELY, and you'll find you will always win, whatever he should try to do." THIS DIALOGUE IS FROM SHAOLIN v/s LLAMA, a wicked kung fu flick from the early eighties, I think (if not the late seventies)
Sometimes the tune is so underground and og it crosses over the border of being a simple garage/breakbeat track. This one's just one of those underground tunes.
When garage become dark! First time hearing this was on DJ EZ BASS BREAKS & BEATS cd 2001. This was more break beat similar to Dj Zinc, Harry Lime, Dj Narrows
I don't blame anyone for saying this ain't garage but it was so heavily played by garage dj's (I think mostly because the mc's would go hard on tracks like these) that it just became garage... Then obviously tracks like these got harder and harder and grimier then suddenly it was being called grime and garage was pretty much wishy washy after that... Well, at least until baseline stopped being a regional phenomenon and went national for a while. But yeah those mc's... They kinda blew garage up then burned it to the ground. Was never up for grime. My time was more 97 to 2002ish.
Tony Marinou this is where Garage started to transition slowly to grime. First So Solid, then Heartless crew and Pay as u go cartel and then all of sudden!, all these ‘Crews’ started showing up! and then the Grime scene was born and like you said , crashed and burned. So those who survived it started following dubstep! And that’s when the game changed yet again. But thats another story 👍👍
somewhere between garage and breaks, i'd say. i definitely remember this getting rinsed on loads of garage sets. tricky tune to come out of though. I used to end up heading down the zinc route after this pretty often (mostly out of laziness).
you are correct mate, this toon came on the scene in 2000 but was officially released at the start of 2001. the upload date just means ive been lazy ;-)
This tune means so much more to me now I lost my right index finger and am replacing it with a robotic looking prosthetic that has been partly inspired by a buddhist girl hahahaha :D.
Anyone know where the "You think you're tough, well you're not..." sample comes from? Is it from Shaolin vs Lama as well? And if so, from where exactly? Thanks.
@@michaela2706 yes unfortunately in life a few bastard children are sometimes made along the way. Ah well
You mean to tell me that you fingered the enemy in Buddha's garage? Well I guess your style MUST be the best then?! I don't have to prove or probe anything, I have been meditating.
People just argue about anything now, who cares if this is classed as garage or not its a fuckin tune (although sounds better when played a bit faster) and thats it.
2024 we still coming back to this one ill teach my kids about this one he will teach his kids and so on and so on

Not even sure what that could possibly mean
Doesn't matter if it's garage or grime it's still a fucking banger
Garage though
Garage, no debate
Must be stupid to think this is Grime... this right here is peak Garage... viva UKG

True it doesn't matter but still though it's garage every day of week

The best time was when UK Garage was the most popular music on London, and grime didn’t exist.

first dropped in 98 , straight banga / guaranteed to set the place on 🔥🔥🔥
Not to get too bogged down in semantics but I would call this breakbeat garage. See also zinc, chase and status, narrows etc
formzino yeah this is more towards the breakbeat side
Yeah I was playing it in breakbeat sets at the time.
Agreed , Definitely break beat but I first heard this played in soft melodic 2 step garage sets….
This was my shit 🔥🔥🔥
