SNIFF!!! Awwwww!!! I love the smell of fresh cut alfalfa!!!❤ Here in the high desert above Los Angeles our alfalfa farmers get over 5 cuttings each year.
Grew up next to a 40-acre farm. The owner used a tractor and homemade hay wagon to gather the hay. He put a rope and board contraption on the wagon, and then pitch forked the alfalfa onto it. Dragged the wagon to the barn and used a pulley system to pull it up to the door at the top of the barn and into the hole at the top front, then into the barn. He then jerked one rope, which dropped the hay.
So happy that you guys are going to bale now, while it's cooler than July! In eastern Colorado we've had huge rains every day for a week, nothing over 66F degrees and my pastures are 16" tall today. I hope this rain system moves on over to you so I can get the last of my garden planted! I'm just so proud of you all, great Americans all!
I love picking up Alfalfa Pellets in my grain wagon and taking them to feed mills. I usually pick them up in Kansas, and deliver them to Texas. First time commenting on your channel, and love your content. Much regards from Oklahoma.
The best smell. Grew up next to a dairy farm and loved when then baled the field next to our house. Of course a lot has changed since then. My dad would drive the truck, my sister and me in the back stacking the bales and a couple farm hands walking behind throwing the bales up into the bed.
We've gotten 6.25 inches here in Kanopolis west of the lake. That's a total over the last three weeks and it still hasn't been enough rain to get the lake back to level after the work done and the water that had to be released for the project.
since I moved off the 10,000 acres in Roggen, Colorado, I have small acreage and I have had a Kubota for 10 years, absolutely love it and it's a workhorse. No major problems and I keep it serviced and don't over use it. It amazes me and I feel safe in it here alone. My Kubota dealership is near Kiowa, CO and if I have a flat tire they come that day. I love everything about Kubotas

Corn may be the King of forage, but Alfalfa is the Queen! Hope y'all get some rain. We need it, too. Great video!
Greetings from Ky, sorry to hear that your alfalfa didn’t turn out well. Here’s praying 🙏 you guys can get some decent rain for all your crops 👍

I could swath alfalfa all summer long. It's what I grew up doing and somehow it never got old. Great vid.

That's nuts! The pond at my house is still empty after 4 inches too.
There’s a lot of wheat that didn’t make it around the McPherson area.
How did the haybine change so you could turn and go back up the same side. Watch twice and didn’t see how it changed over. Never seen that before.
Nothing like the smell of fresh cut alfalfa!
It’s so dry in western Kansas the feed lots are having to gave feed bails hauled in from eastern Ks or from Nebraska.
I live in Kansas!
I miss the smell of Alfalfa hay and horse breath.😢
How western Kansas would love to have crops to cut & bail.
Do you ever use the Wichita market?
The 2nd best smell is a freshly mowed little league field right before your game
1:34 - that aerial shot shows how bad the crop really was. Unfortunately.
How good are those Kubota tractors? Heard some pretty good reviews about them. Thinking about getting one maybe
Have had one (new) for 22 years and never had any major issues with it but we service it regularly and don’t abuse it. Great tractors

Never owned one myself but a couple of my buddies did and I will have to say they are one TUFF TRACTOR!!

Love that smell❤
My dad used a old sickle
