So REAL ! I'm 65 and have a '88 Ford Van for 6 yrs now. Learning everyday. Dig being FREE ! Now my money is spent on my 'cool' van . Everything you guys say is so 'right on'. xoxo Van On !
Interesting you guys touched on the psychological aspect of living in a van. Not many ppl talk about this but you guys knocked it outta the park. Break down the wall of fear and live alternative life styles. Break free from the system and other peoples expectations of you. Be yourself, live for yourself.
please please please please keep doing videos like this about other mobile van dwellers!!!!!!!! they are awesome!!!!! as someone who is gonna give van dwelling a try these videos help a lot!
+Jeff Ammon O I am friend!! expediting all across America in my cargo van, that's where my love and passion of watching all these van dwelling videos on RUclips came from!!
Must haves for full time van living. 1 insulation heating ventilation 2 toilet shower 3 house battery and solar for lights laptop phone charger 4 kitchen with fridge stove and sink 5 full size comfortable bed. I think the lifestyle that would best suit me on the road would be depending on the weather to go to an area to explore for a few weeks looking for work and banking income on the way. Eventually not having to pay monthly rent would let me save up for a piece of land to use as a home base to winter in like Texas or Florida for 3 months or so before getting back on the road.
This society is based on getting every citizen onto the Hampster Wheel. Struggling, stressing, reaching for what is not important. Getting into debt is Goal #1 for the government. Keep them struggling, they won't notice what we are really doing.
+Mob Harley Mental freedom of life on the Road.... Where can I empty my holding tanks, Where can I get drinking water. How much is gas where I am. Are my tires OK. Why is the transmission shifting funny? The forecast is for freezing weather. Will my holding tanks freeze. Do I have enough propane to heat the RV and cook. Do I have food in case I get snowed in. The RV needs servicing, where will I stay while it's in the shop? How will I make MONEY to live?.... Yeah, no pressure.
I'm going in a week to pick up my first van to convert and I'm so excited. You have been a huge inspiration man. Thanks for sharing your advice on van dwelling
I wanna buy a rv and have people cram in there so everyone can save money, a little uncomfortable but I'd rather not have a room then be able to pay off my car and buy things I want
One day a king was pondering how do I make these people work for me.... hmm... what do they want? I can make this little thing that seems to have value but doesn't... that's how I'll do it
Just had to come back to this, ONE OF THE BEST VANDWELLER VIDEOS EVER !!!! I will be on the road soon, April/May '17, Will look up both of you "out there" See y'all soon!
Initially I thought, "why am I watching this", but by the end I was more like "Damn, I want another episode of the Moody Mystery Show". Well done guys. I've been following a number of mobile dwellers for a long time, and the two of you cut straight to the essence of what it's about for a large chunk of the doers and the wannabes. Encore! Encore!
Subscriber , hey it's mike , big fan love your videos, ok anyway I'm 55 years Young , and collect a disability check , can't afford much , so I'm gonna do what I always wanted , van dwelling, travel , I'm sacred but gotta do it, selling everything I own house , car , furniture, buying a class B Van and hitting the road with my little pup, Abby Dawn .
This lifestyle is very adventurous and cool. And yeah I am tired of my job. Lol. The wife and I are planning to leave this lifestyle of just working to pay bills and rent. And hit the road to see and adventure new things. Thnx guys for the info and knowledge you guys are sharing with us. Thnx
i was homeless for 2 years and for 6 months i lived in my 1982 datsun maxima then i traded it for a van and was in it for 2 years i loved it. if i didnt have kids i would do it all over again
I been at it for 5 years. My only saving grace was I love the outdoors. So the transition was easy for me. The issue is most people have no concept of being outdoors or people that do it. So they look at you as lazy. Then you tell them they are the insane ones. Working 60 hrs a week to send every dime they earn to someone else every month for life. Then they realize I have an EEC degree, Certified FAA welder, High performance engine mechanic and even taken Photography as an elective in college that produce me a job as a sports photographer. So never assume people are uneducated. AS I meet a guy that had an IQ of 167 and was a doorman at a bar. They guy was on 60 mins and they asked him why. He simply said I like to meet new and interesting people. As the office life people are boring!
Hey Jed I'm loving your videos man and this conversation is really interesting. I know random people giving you advice about how to make your videos isn't always welcome, but I genuinely did enjoy the content, although the cameras switching angles randomly was a bit sketchy looking. The trick to multi-cam interviews is to leave the camera on the person talking for as long as possible. Cut away to both people or just the other person only if you want to show a reaction shot. If the shots end up looking too long and you're worried it's killing the pace of the video you can cut to some b-roll of something relevant. The thing to avoid if at all possible is to have one person talking and cutting randomly between different camera angles. I'm still learning myself man, so hey don't take this as gospel but just what I find works. Keep up the great work though dude, and good luck getting the new engine back in the Astro!
Very true words brothers if only more people in our society were educated more on alternative lifestyles and how they can help people achieve there goals and dreams for the future the world would be a better place ! :)) Much respect all the way from Scotland ! wooohooo
I admire you dudes for living this way! total freedom and off grid. The people living in the rat race/slavery system think it is crazy to live this way, but in all respects, this is the true meaning of life! Freedom and adventure. Keep on keepin on brothers!!
I love hearing about both of your stories of how you ended up living nomadically. I'm really interested myself and appreciate hearing others experiences!
Nice Interview. Funny to see that nearly every Vandweller ends in the same spot in this City. And also that you talk about Eric (Aclarino), his channel was the second I've found when I look for Vandwelling content. First one was Living the Vanlife. Stay safe.
There is nothing like this over here (Germany). Those Vandwellers I meet so far are trying to be more then stehlt. No one like to talk about it or even say it loud and proud. Everybody is scared that the Authorities start to having an Eye on this, and this will end with no good. Stay safe.
Vandwelling is living the dream for me. I have all the money I need now and more time for myself without the stress of turning over 75% of my monthly income to live in some dumpy apartment. Life is so much less stressful. And in the famous words of Timothy Leary "If you'er not happy, move".
Wow guys thanks! I bought an TT for a good deal and currently remodeling it now! I have been going through a funk about whata crazy thing to do... What are people gonna think.... So glad to know I'm not the only one having / had transitioning anxiety.
Love your videos Jed! In the hopes that you might inspire a few young people I know, I shared this on Facebook. I also subscribed to Cory's channel and look forward to checking out his videos.
Husband and I just quit our jobs and are outfitting a 99' georgie boy pursuit to live off grid on the road. Kids are 5, 3, and 2. Everyone thinks we've gone crazy, but we think they are the crazy ones for working 24/7 just so they can own a big expensive box after 30 years.
Haha yea I did see an episode of top gear where jeremy clarkson strapped an outboard boat motor to a toyota and took it swimming though.. Im in New South Wales but the Gold Coast is only a days drive from here man. Is that where you're planning on going?
+BecauseiVan No I havent seen that one. I'm not sure where I'll land yet. Probably around the Gold coast, but I dont want to stay in one place. I'd really like to drive around the coast and some bush and sail around it.
Wow, great perspectives on mobile living. I will be living the mobile life starting May 1st. No matter much I tried to rationalize it, I couldn't quite go the Van route. I have two large dogs that will be going with me and a van just didn't fit my situation. But I have my mobile dwelling and am selling my stix and bricks home. The savings from not maintaining a home are amazing. I did the math and I will save approximately 30 grand a year in expenses to maintain my home. And your friend hit the nail on the head, I only spend a short time in the house on a daily basis. It's not worth it. You had mentioned several of the van dwellers that I follow. One of the most influential Van Dwellers I follow is Bob Wells at cheaprvliving.com. We are all brainwashed by society that we need to go to school, get a good job, buy a big house, fancy cars and all the toys. And most important of all, pay our income and property taxes. Not anymore. I will never pay another dime for property taxes and little to nothing in income taxes. I want my biggest decision of the day to be weather I want my Margarita frozen or on the rocks. Good luck and keep the videos coming.
my first year full timing away from my home area I went out towards death valley a place called the Alabama Hills,,,, I trusted a bunch of information I have gotten online about free camping that turned out to not be free so I went over to the Alabama Hills because it actually was still free..... and the wind was so horrible it sounded like Bigfoot was Dancing On My roof,,,, I ended up turning around and heading home within a month but the next year I went much more prepared traveled further north seeing a lot more awesome thing and these days I actually enjoy the crazy wind when it comes around
+Into The Mystery 13 yeah they're really cool but they're also very strange they have filmed thousands of movies there they even have a brochure they give out to tourists so you can travel along the road and see the different areas where they filmed different movies,,,, it's most famous for the natural rock arches, and it's also right at the base of Mount Whitney..... and it's BLM so it's free for 14 days. the Alabama Hills and the rest of Highway 395 all the way up through Bishop, mammoth, June lake,& Bridgeport are something I highly recommend everybody see at least once oh and Devil's postpile National Monument I haven't even seen that one myself yet and I've been out there 4 different years,,,,,, Eastern California has so much stuff to see and it's much less populated than the rest of the state so it doesn't have that California feel
+Into The Mystery 13 yeah I think you will definitely dig it especially after seeing your recent videos on how much you're enjoying driving through the mountains
New sub here this is such a great video I am still renting I bought a SUV to suvdwell in I may tow a travel trailer too Im just trying to get over the fears of going for this lifestyle like you had at first. awesome video
The best part of mobile dwelling is the feeling of freedom and no one owns you and you are free to create a life thats true to self not the life the system sets 4 society.
I wonder the same thing and no one ever gives a straight up answer...with the exception of one guy who says he plans his routes with seasonal jobs in mind such as working on a farm during harvest time
I could live and be perfectly happy in a small space, but a van or RV is not not quite enough for me. I enjoy my objects too much. Plus, without engine know-how, I'd constantly be worried the thing would break down on me.
Love the convo, one thing that stops me from doing this is you get fined for 'camping' in residential areas and pretty much everywhere that isnt designated camping areas..Isnt that also the case in the US? You should blog your channel on steemit and get paid
Awesome man so what are you focusing on right now for your future like work wise? are you learning something online? Im savin money right now so I can do something like that while traveling
Please understand 3 corners of states join. Mississippi, Alabama and Louisiana. You are just minutes away from each state. I think he was referring to Pascagoula Mississippi. This might be 20-30 minutes away Louisiana. Keep on Traveling🐞
Damn dude touring the US on an R6 is insane. As I raced Moto GP for years and those thing arr not made for long trips. I can tell you this. The lifestyle teaches you to be Self Reliant and you will grow more confident in yourself.
so if he works in a bakery how does he travel? does he get he job back? im asking because were thinking of trying to do this but was worried about money
Hello, when I decided to live in a van for a few years I was always able to live for about a year doing as I pleased and then I would go back home and work for about 6 months and be back on the road again. When I needed cash and enjoyed an area, a lot of times I would stay in a state for a few months and work at a camp ground or find farms that needed work to make money:)
Thanks for the inspiring video. Me and my family just broke free. I used to live in schoolbus and various vans in my history. We had a baby and became low middle class, we just got evicted 4 days ago and I'm so incredibly liberated. At first i had emotions of complete failure..then i aww clarity..I'm fucking free! We can afford an rv in a couple months or van or shortbus, thing is there are so many options not just going to work and being nailed under the foot of the many asshole landlords ive had. Never thought i wouldn't have a conventional house at 34. I Best thing is that i can save now and will get to buy in a couple years with a big chunk down because we're saving a thousand a month! Like you guys are saying create something you love
+Honsell Thompson I use a family members address and tell them Im a traveller. Or I get a po box and write out the address as if it were an apartment. For example 123 some street, number 321 instead of po box123
What do you do to earn money for gas and everything else? Just wondering. Love the fee life and not tied to something you don't want or like. Do what you need to be happy.
I do respect your thoughts and they way you are living your life tho. I was talking to someone and talked about how you are making it and they were very disrespectful. I think you are innovative and pretty dam smart to make it like this. I do not know why people are so disrespectful. I guess they are jealous that they can't do what you are doing. You give me the inspiration and the desire to actually get out and try something different. Thank you.
Seriously considering this lifestyle. My only issue is going to be reliable, fast internet. I'm a day trader so I need to be online and i need a stable connection. How do you guys get your wifi?
I'd pay $100 a month for it so long as it's reliable. Don't wanna be in the situation where my connection is down and I miss a profitable trade. Or, god forbid, I take a bit of a loss, but am unable to close my position because the connection is down, so i just keep losing money... I guess I'd just have to be on point with where I parked each night so I knew I had good enough 4G to work the next morning. How bad does the loneliness suck? Do you miss friends and family or is Skype/texting enough? Sorry for all the questions man, it's just this idea keeps coming back into my head. It really makes sense, I'd be able to bank so much more money a month and plus live a more varied life. It's just sometimes I think 'damn, it's gotta suck sometimes off camera for these people'. Also is a van/box trailer configuration a good idea? Store all my shit in the box trailer and just have a bed, a desk and a computer in the actual van? I guess I'd just shower and shit at truck stops or swimming pools or whatever. Wow, too long. Sorry bro.
truck stops usually have great internet, but it is not free. I don't get lonely, but I do miss people. Its got its down sides, but I wouldnt be doing it if I didnt love it overall. Towing around a trailor all the time sounds like a pain in the ass to me. Why do you want to take all that stuff with you anyway? Sprint 4g has been great for me in most places
I'm making $65 an hour plus benefits in northern California and I still don't want to pay the ridiculous rent prices. I bought a high top extended van for $5000 and I'm about to start living in it. It feels good I'll stop paying so much plus i can stay close to my jobsite and save money on gas.
So REAL !
I'm 65 and have a '88 Ford Van for 6 yrs now. Learning everyday. Dig being FREE !
Now my money is spent on my 'cool' van .
Everything you guys say is so 'right on'.

Great idea to share your two backgrounds on mobile living. I'm enjoying all the positive energy that you two bring into your vids.
Thank you so much! Im so glad you enjoyed it!
That was awesome! You two were having so much fun, I smiled all the way through it! love ya, B
Im so glad you enjoyed! Thanks for the support!
+Jeff Ammon Me too!
Camera angles... On point! Great job on that discussion! You guys seem like you're totally in the place that you're meant to be right now!
You can thank Cory for the camera voodoo. I totally agree on the place in our journey
You both have it right. Very inspiring. I haven't thought about the mental freedom through life on the road. Live the dream brothers!!
+Steve Mazz Nothing is without its challenges. Once you get these things figured out they aren't an issue at all.
That can be said of every living situation, very profound.
I'm going in a week to pick up my first van to convert and I'm so excited. You have been a huge inspiration man. Thanks for sharing your advice on van dwelling
+WVairsoft304 that is so sick! Thats why Im here brother!

+Into The Mystery 13 yeah I think you will definitely dig it especially after seeing your recent videos on how much you're enjoying driving through the mountains

+Howie Roll thanks bro!
+Into The Mystery 13 As I stated in Cory's comments Awesome camera work!!
+Howie Roll The three camera thing was his idea. He did the video editing too. I did the concept, questions, and audio
+Into The Mystery 13 Great team work!!
+Howie Roll Thanks man! yeah we litterally spent all day on it! It was really fun.

The best part of mobile dwelling is the feeling of freedom and no one owns you and you are free to create a life thats true to self not the life the system sets 4 society.
Absolutely!
i lived in a honda insight for a few months
If i was able to get this lifestyle i would save my money up to buy small tracks of land and set up some cool areas gardens one to two acres....
+Barbara Tavernetti ive thought about that too!
Hey Jed, did Cory break you off in your van? That would be sooooo hot! Take care.
+Elvis travels sucks what does that mean?
lol..... hey man, at 14:24 what the heck was in your drink?? lol
+Ziggy Moon hahaha you caught that? Idk, there was something floating at the bottom and it grossed me out. Otherwise just water
I love what you are doing but don't understand how you buy gas/food. How do you buy what you need?
I wonder the same thing and no one ever gives a straight up answer...with the exception of one guy who says he plans his routes with seasonal jobs in mind such as working on a farm during harvest time
+Nancy Girard Most my money comes from youtube, amazon affiliate, patreon, seasonal, and odd jobs. Cory works at a bakery
+Into The Mystery 13 Does youtube/amazon etc pay enough?
I could live and be perfectly happy in a small space, but a van or RV is not not quite enough for me. I enjoy my objects too much. Plus, without engine know-how, I'd constantly be worried the thing would break down on me.
+DB Pooper its definitely not for everybody.
Love the convo, one thing that stops me from doing this is you get fined for 'camping' in residential areas and pretty much everywhere that isnt designated camping areas..Isnt that also the case in the US? You should blog your channel on steemit and get paid
you can stay the night in Walmart parking lots sides of back roads, there are many possibilities, you shouldnt let it stop you
Strange question mate..... What are those pants you're wearing? they look like great hiking pants!
What a great vid! Thank you
+Ben Bleyendaal thank you for your feedback and support!
People are so tired of being burdened down with bills. Working to pay utilities.
+Darrin break those chains!
Creating a amazing life for yourself:)
Awesome man so what are you focusing on right now for your future like work wise? are you learning something online? Im savin money right now so I can do something like that while traveling
building seo websites, learning to make films and photography, and building this youtube channel
Love my hammock. I'll never go back to a tent
Please understand 3 corners of states join. Mississippi, Alabama and Louisiana. You are just minutes away from each state. I think he was referring to Pascagoula Mississippi. This might be 20-30 minutes away Louisiana. Keep on Traveling🐞
Just Bought a Travel Trailer and a truck both need a bit of work then ill be on the road
wish we could have seen corey's rv both inside and out.
+stan l coming very soon! Possibly tomorrow!
This is me. not now but soon too be....
+Corz Illa :)
Awesome video!
Thank you! I love your logo!
How do you pay to be able to travel around?
+ToothlessOutlaw They have to get a job. OR apply for Welfare.
+ToothlessOutlaw Most my money comes from youtube, amazon affiliate, patreon, and odd jobs. Cory works at a bakery
+Into The Mystery 13 i would like to speak to you directly in more details about creating those revenue streams
you just fucking spoke to my soul man! seriously thank you!
+sia c :D
Damn dude touring the US on an R6 is insane. As I raced Moto GP for years and those thing arr not made for long trips.
I can tell you this. The lifestyle teaches you to be Self Reliant and you will grow more confident in yourself.
so if he works in a bakery how does he travel? does he get he job back? im asking because were thinking of trying to do this but was worried about money
im still trying to figure this out aswell
yea i hate video were this subject seems to drift off. we really need insight on how this is being done.
Ace Math maybe he does seasonal jobs but i dont know how those work i kinda want a guide on that
+Ace Math I agree with you brother hopefull he that will make a bette r video explaining this
Hello, when I decided to live in a van for a few years I was always able to live for about a year doing as I pleased and then I would go back home and work for about 6 months and be back on the road again. When I needed cash and enjoyed an area, a lot of times I would stay in a state for a few months and work at a camp ground or find farms that needed work to make money:)
How do you make money for paying van insurance, food etc.?
+Half n Half with Sage www.intothemystery13.com/faq
lol I found your video about that right after I asked. Thank you! Love your channel by the way!
+Half n Half with Sage thanks! Welcome!
Hey, if you're ever in MD, send me a message. You can park here.
You have a great attitude! Keep going!
do you have a separate air conditioner in your van other than the one that comes with the van? if so what kind is it?
+stan l nope, i wish. Its takes a lot of power to run one.
Do you have auto insurance? Health insurance? If so, how do you pay for it?
If a potential employer asks your address, what do you tell 'em? Don't you need a permanent (local?) address?
+Honsell Thompson I use a family members address and tell them Im a traveller. Or I get a po box and write out the address as if it were an apartment. For example 123 some street, number 321 instead of po box123
I'm not putting you down... I think this is exciting stuff... I do get it...
+plutoplatters I didnt take it that way at all :)
+Into The Mystery 13 good...
What do you do to earn money for gas and everything else? Just wondering. Love the fee life and not tied to something you don't want or like. Do what you need to be happy.
+Ron Rollins Most my money comes from youtube, amazon affiliate, patreon, and odd jobs. Cory works at a bakery
Thank you. I am retired and disabled. Want to get a camper and travel. Been told it is a bad idea. Don't know why!
+Danny Huarez I use my phone most of thr time. Truckers use a hot spot service that is about 100 a month, but I was told it's un limited
Wow you’re going to stacking cash. Happy for you!
Checking out a old video
Right on!
