      She's getting there. She understands that intentially avoiding boxes to pass the turn could be a good play.
      But the play Matsuri made was a mistake, but only if Marine realizes she can copy Matsuri's idea.
      The optimal play was to first take 4 squares, and _then_ close the gap, leaving only two squares and preventing Marine to copy Matsuri's strategy.

      After Matsuri burns a line, Senchou was guaranteed to win, in the bottom right, she takes the 2 squares on the right, then she draws a line splitting the 4 remaining squares into a top half and bottom half. This leaves Matsuri with no choice but to fill those 2 in, and then she has to draw one on the top left. This gives Senchou the entire left side, giving her the guaranteed win.

    • @sefi1257
      @sefi1257 Год назад +6

      @@TheVillainInGlasses Marine could have won it outright if she took the two right boxes in the 3x2 at the bottom right making it a 2x2 then putting a line in-between the 2x2 making two fully shaped rectangles. This forces Matsuri to take the 2x2 still in the bottom right or give the 8 squares in the upper left to Marine thus making the ending score 10 to 14 in favor of Marine.

If in that position Marine had taken the two leftmost squares and then she put a horizontal line separating the remaining four squares in blocs of two then Marine would have won. Game is the same as mind mazes... basically it always devolves down to 1 player creating a winning opportunity for their opponent to continually chain squares, by making a 3 sided box, so the key is you have to bait your opponent to do that. Which typically means actually sacrificing a run of squares in exchange for them setting you up for a BIGGER number of squares.
    In this case, there was 1 zone in the bottom right setup for a chain of 6 squares, & 1 in the top left set up for a chain of 8. Marine needed to bait Matsuri into taking the 6 chain. Matsuri realized this, which is why she DIDN'T take the opportunity Marine created for her at 1:40

    There is only 1 other way this move could've been better. She fill in all those squares except for the last two and then do the same move. That way she would get another 4 and still force Marine to click on the other side. At the same time Marine could've clicked on one of the 2 top vertical lines and and forced Matsuri to finish them and take the large group for herself, it would end in a draw.

    1:49 this is the right idea, but the optimal move is to take as many squares, and only close it from the other end once there are two squares left (three would also work tho). Because now marine can do a simlar strategy, waiting until 4 squares are left, before splitting it into two groups of two, which passes the turn.

    At the end of the game there are islands, filling in one island forces you to draw a line on another island that allows your opponent to fill that island. Therefore the goal is to force your opponent to take smaller islands. If your opponent doesn't understand this it's like taking candy from a baby.

    If she wanted to win, she would take 3 squares, then draw a vertical at column 5 row 4 downwards. Drawing a horizontal there gave marine a chance as long as she drew 2 or 3 lines: taking 1 square (either the 2nd bottom right or bottom right), then drawing diagonally upwards to open the board.
    3 would be taking 2 squares then not taking 1, which is the same concept.

    There was a move that could have make Matsuri lose.
    If we count the rows and columns from right to left and below to above, then we can see that drawing a vertical line in row 2 dividing columns 2 and 3 (Marin had the pencil in that line at 1:55), the rest of the lines, no matter where Matsuri draws hers, whould result in Marine winning. That is because, if Matsuri draws hers in the 6 squares area, it would mean that she must complete all the area and draw a line in the left area, which would make Marin able to get all the squares.
