I know how to teach some liberty stuff to horses who want to participate, but I don't consider myself to be an expert on the topic in any sense. Those guys have it down to a science. It's incredible, and Dan's clinics are well worth the investment to attend.

How is this Liberty riding when you are using spurs??? I thought the whole point of Liberty was to take force out of the equation & ride WITH a horse using gentle cues & by developing a relationship with a horse instead of forcing it. But using spurs in that sensitive belly seems so unnecessary & cruel.
Well, you thought wrong. This horse isn't being forced to do anything. Also, horses are a lot tougher than you think they are, this horse is definitely not in pain when he feels a spur on him, and all the cues ARE gentle. And lastly, contrary to the common, very uneducated assumption, liberty is not magic like the movies make it out to be. It's a discipline just like any other equestrian discipline and takes an incredible amount of training and mental focus from the horse to do anything worthwhile.
