    In addition, I always wanted to see a synergy comparison of specific tubes and phono cartridges...

      I'd love to know if it makes any difference. I have a feeling it won't, but you never know!

    Very informative and fun video! I'll try this unit with MM. Could be that it is quieter with MM cartridges. Also I have a bunch of different tubes that would fit it. Unlimited tube rolling fun! That alone is worth the $109 bucks.

    I use Mullard M8100's on a Douk T3 Plus and it sounds excellent, better for my ears than the GE's.

      Mullards in a $100 Chinese preamp...? That's like putting a 350 in a Pinto!! :)

    Great and informative review. How does it compare to the Mani 2? Have you tried the Skoll?

    Open it up and take a look at the caps, maybe an upgrade there will improve the sound

      They're all surface mount except for the electrolytic caps.

    This is making my Debate hard for what i want to get. I have the Emotiva XPS-1 gen 2 but i found this for 60 on sale and dont know what to choose.
    Love the look of this one but the size of the other is practical.
    Runing a Sumiko Amethyst (MM) on my Pro-ject rpm 5 that needs a 47ohm load
    I know that sticking with what i already have is nice but knowing that a decent tube phono pre amp is out there makes me want to try this.

      For $60, I think it's worth a shot.

    Do you think this would work with a vintage Shure cart that requires high capacitance loading?

    Using it as phono preamp with max volume produces strange distortion.

    Would the Douk be a good match for my Audio Technica VM540ML and Denon DL-110? My Ifi Zen Phono isn't quite right for my Audio Technica cartridge.

      What don’t you like about the iFi?

    • @metalbearuk
      @metalbearuk Год назад

      @@6AM_YT I like it with the Denon, but the output seems a little low for the Audio Technica. I've been advised the MM setting is 39db with the Ifi, and the AT requires 42db or so.

    • @6AM_YT
      @6AM_YT  Год назад

      @@metalbearuk I can't say how many dB of gain the MM settings provides. If that's important, I might check out the Schiit Mani 2, which lets you dial in the gain quite a bit.

      First thx for this updated video. I'm also using an AT VM540ML I'm with my Denon DP-1200 so I'm curious if the Douk is a match as a phono pre-amp (I just bought one on Prime Day for less than $90. Should receive it soon).
      I hope you do a video for a tube upgrade to see if will make a difference, after they warm up of course.

    If it is pronounced like Doug, then it would be Duck Audio. I hear most people pronounce it Duke or Dook.

    Ridiculous so called review. Do you buy audio because you like a brand name or if you do not like the sound of the name it's no deal. Where are you guys coming from. Every time I go on RUclips I see another so called expert. You are growing like mushrooms. I believe you guys are trying to impress by listing your equipment. Ciao

    • @6AM_YT
      @6AM_YT  10 месяцев назад +4

      The listing of the equipment is to give context for the review. I don't consider myself an expert, just an asshole making videos in my basement giving my opinions on stuff I buy. Thanks for watching. Ciao.
