Very informative and fun video! I'll try this unit with MM. Could be that it is quieter with MM cartridges. Also I have a bunch of different tubes that would fit it. Unlimited tube rolling fun! That alone is worth the $109 bucks.
This is making my Debate hard for what i want to get. I have the Emotiva XPS-1 gen 2 but i found this for 60 on sale and dont know what to choose. Love the look of this one but the size of the other is practical. Runing a Sumiko Amethyst (MM) on my Pro-ject rpm 5 that needs a 47ohm load I know that sticking with what i already have is nice but knowing that a decent tube phono pre amp is out there makes me want to try this.
@@6AM_YT I like it with the Denon, but the output seems a little low for the Audio Technica. I've been advised the MM setting is 39db with the Ifi, and the AT requires 42db or so.
@@metalbearuk I can't say how many dB of gain the MM settings provides. If that's important, I might check out the Schiit Mani 2, which lets you dial in the gain quite a bit.
First thx for this updated video. I'm also using an AT VM540ML I'm with my Denon DP-1200 so I'm curious if the Douk is a match as a phono pre-amp (I just bought one on Prime Day for less than $90. Should receive it soon). I hope you do a video for a tube upgrade to see if will make a difference, after they warm up of course.
Ridiculous so called review. Do you buy audio because you like a brand name or if you do not like the sound of the name it's no deal. Where are you guys coming from. Every time I go on RUclips I see another so called expert. You are growing like mushrooms. I believe you guys are trying to impress by listing your equipment. Ciao
The listing of the equipment is to give context for the review. I don't consider myself an expert, just an asshole making videos in my basement giving my opinions on stuff I buy. Thanks for watching. Ciao.
A comparison with other Tubes would be nice!
I concur....
thanks! very informative. It would be interesting to see how it performs with better tubes.
In addition, I always wanted to see a synergy comparison of specific tubes and phono cartridges...
Your delivery is almost like a comedian...and I love it...
Thanks!
love the review!! the delivery and honesty is refreshing I have ordered replacement Mullard tubes as an upgrade see how this goes
I'd love to know if it makes any difference. I have a feeling it won't, but you never know!

I use Mullard M8100's on a Douk T3 Plus and it sounds excellent, better for my ears than the GE's.
Mullards in a $100 Chinese preamp...? That's like putting a 350 in a Pinto!! :)
Great and informative review. How does it compare to the Mani 2? Have you tried the Skoll?
Open it up and take a look at the caps, maybe an upgrade there will improve the sound
Bob/Sarasota FL
They're all surface mount except for the electrolytic caps.

For $60, I think it's worth a shot.
@6AM_YT Thank you. Going to love testing new gear.
@@hotwill100 This has a very different sound than the Emotiva. Let me know which you like more.
Do you think this would work with a vintage Shure cart that requires high capacitance loading?
Using it as phono preamp with max volume produces strange distortion.
With an MM or MC cartridge?
Would the Douk be a good match for my Audio Technica VM540ML and Denon DL-110? My Ifi Zen Phono isn't quite right for my Audio Technica cartridge.
What don’t you like about the iFi?

If it is pronounced like Doug, then it would be Duck Audio. I hear most people pronounce it Duke or Dook.
chinese branding is the real branding. It doesnt mean anything just helps you recognise things
Do United Kingdom...DO UK, DOUK.
oh you are one of those people that pays extra for 'audiophile' caps.
Just get Panasomic, Nichicon or Wima.
I'm normally one of those people who don't bother replacing stuff unless it's broken.
mini plug
just talk
