I also kinda hated the show's logic of how what shark did was cheating as by that standard having Yuma see the other's duels in the world duel carnival would also be cheating and I'm sure in the tcg looking at someone's deck list is not actually cheating (they don't have to give it to you obviously but knowing it beforehand by just reading it isn't a violation unless it was through malicious means, which in shark's case was not as they did just "fall" on the floor). if he actually did something to the card to "mark" it, that would be more understandable.
