Your skill to weave emotion and music together is why in my eyes you are one of the single best music makers of our time. I decided that many years ago and I have never wavered on that being 100% true.

Aerith's death was one of the first things I learned about FF7. I was ready for it when it happened and had long since simply internalized it. One of the most incredible and cruelest things about the remake is that if it does still happen I am going to weep like a child all over again for a character I knew was never going to make it.
I like how they've hinted towards the idea that she could still live. They're no longer bound by the fate written for them (23 years ago), and Cloud and Aerith both have seen the death that was "supposed to" happen. Now that they've given us hope, it'll be a whole new kind of hurt when they rip that bandaid off again.
And now, you made this fact not only yours first thing learnt about FF7

@@se7enist For the greatest impact, make it a hard choice for the player. Something where you *can* keep her alive until the end of the series, but at a high enough cost that it's questionable whether you *should*.
@@bfrobin446 You mean like if she lives then other party members die? Would have to be at least two important party members sacrificed to make up for changing the fate of the world I'd say, probably Tifa & Barret. Or they could all live, but then there would be nobody to help stop Meteor at the end, effectively ending the world anyway.
Real touching and Sharm's voice sounds fantastic.

...I don't think I'm ready for this.
I was 14 when I first played FF7 and going through a particularly dark and hopeless time. That story and its themes of loss and resilience pulled me out of there and Aerith was the heart. She reached down out of the dark and said "hey, no matter how bad this gets, you'll be all right" when I needed it most.
20 years of pop culture enshrined her as this saintly sacrificial maiden but the OG was a very rounded character, kind, sassy, goofy and wise with moments of doubt and uncertainty and tremendous courage.
Remake gets her. And you guys get her. Thank you for your amazing work.
I'm early, but not too early to note those amazing callbacks even to just one song prior. Every time you do that, I get a new favorite. The way your music builds off itself is unlike any artist I've seen. It's brilliant. It's layered. It's a reward for being a longtime listener because you never stop doing it. I love it!

Okay, no joke, I cried when I first heard this on the Patreon preview because there is so much warmth and tenderness in this song, especially in regards to what we know about the game now that it's out. Aerith's role in this game is one I can empathize with a lot; she's such a bright beacon of hope and empathy and kindness in a world seemingly bereft of such things, but inside she aches for the life she might have had and especially with knowing what might be coming for her. It's a toss up between keeping the brave face for your friends so they can have something to hold on to in dark times, but also acknowledging your own pain and sadness and hoping that others can be strong themselves when you can't be strong for them. I'm a caregiver for a brother with special needs and I too find myself caught in the struggle between being there for others and wanting to be true to myself, so hearing how beautifully this song illustrates a very personal feeling that I have just turned the waterworks on.
After all, having a kind heart in a cruel world isn't weakness, it's strength. Thanks so much for doing this, you really made my day 🥰

I got to experience the Greatest Spoiler In Gaming History™ before I had the Internet to ruin it for me, way back in 1997.
It is still the second-biggest gut punch emotional moment I've ever experienced as a gamer.
Celes' attempted suicide in FF6 is the biggest.
I have no idea why but this song just made me cry, I've never even played or seen anything about final fantasy but the moment the song started I instantly felt it and I Began crying before I knew it. This is why I've been listening to gav for years, there genuine passion and love in every song he makes
Seriously. I dunno why these big games don't look to Gav/ Miracle of Sound or Aviators for actual game songs/themes. Because goddamn, they deserve it.
What I really love about both of these FF tracks is the musical nods to the original score. You've managed to evoke Aerith's Theme and Flowers Blooming in the Church here, in a way that's still your own and not just lifting the original melody and writing lyrics to it. You always do this in your songs, but there's something about the added nostalgia of the FF7 soundtrack that makes these two sound that little more special to me.
And yes, there were tears while listening to this :p
Yeah the pre-chorus in this one has a similar chord progression to Aerith's theme, and TLAL has similar progressions to the main theme and Tifa's one :)

I wrote these two songs together at the same time as part of a duo, they are meant to feel very connected, like two sides of a coin. It's the first time I've done that - it was a challenge but it was fun!

Let us just hope they don't tweak his character. YES, he is gothic vampire...but he is surprisingly calm, collected, and 100% THERE for the group. He shows emotions including joking/teasing Cloud for being too damn stoic. He also reminds everyone to be prepared and not take any enemy lightly.
Never played the original FF7, but Aerith stole my heart the moment Cloud woke up in the church. Such a beautiful soul brought forth by a video game. And now, through this song.
Even in the super bright colored 3D overlapping box like graphics....when she got skewered, it was soul crushing. Her optimism and genuine kindness is what glued the characters together.
I will honestly be saddened if this scene doesn't end up in the remake. I played it from age 9 to my adult years. It's that amazing of a story line and in the original, was needed.
The lyrics from Life and Loss being repeated from Aerith's perspective are great. Although it really makes me want songs for the rest of the main characters so that we can hear it again from their mouths

Few times I could recall myself crying to a song. This hits that sweet spot between amazing vocals, pleasantly calming and soft instrumental and surprisingly meaningful lyrics. I've never been in touch with my emotions but, this brings out something in me. I can't express it in words, since I'm not too familiar with this feeling. Good job 10/10.

Oh man. I had a melody stuck in my head for a few days now and I just couldn't remember where I heard it from but the end of this song finally reminded me. I kept thinking about the last part of Through Life And Loss and I wasn't even aware of this. It was just so good that it got stuck in my subconscious. I don't know what it is about this melody but I just love it so much.
Havent played the original, but the remake was an absolute masterpiece. Fell in love with all the characters, can´t wait for the next chapter!

Having just discovered you, I've spent the last hours clicking through your videos. Every single one has amazed me. What's special is the different styles and how you capture every single feeling with your art. The different cultures in which the creed is traveling, the click, click, boom boom, the uplifting recap of 2020 or just Pudge. Every single one fits so well into the respective theme. An overwhelming high quality and diversity that you do here without copying melodies or lyrics. You even keep adding another perspective, another detail, to it. As if it was lacking in the respective franchises.
And as an FF7 fan boy, I can only express my respect for this ode to Aerith. Incredibly beautiful art!
