I liked how in the book it was implied that Lecter was Il Mostro and that there was an eight year break in the killings while Lecter was incarcerated. I don't remember if it was ever confirmed or if it was just a red herring but it's a neat idea that Lecter would have a completely separate foreign killing spree that he returns to like a vacation house.
It was a red herring, Hannibal only killed one person and that was the other person who was also looking for the same job as a Hannibal
Il Monstro was much more prevalent in the book
... Just like Mason Verger's bodybuilding sister.

Great Blu-ray snippets...shows how the editing for the theatrical release filters these 👍🏻
Because they destroyed all of the sub-plots for this movie and left out key characters, like Mason Verger's sister. On it's own as a movie, it is awesome. But if you've read the novels, they butchered it. And they royally fucked up the ending.
The ending, especially. I still enjoy the film, for what was presented.
Get over yourself. Movie ending was *much* better than the book ending. And Margot was hardly a key character. Go back and read the book, but skip every part about her friendship with Barney. Notice how the story is barely impacted? Just because they have their own subplot doesn’t make them “key” characters

If Lecture really wanted to be hidden, he wouldn't have made such obvious points to people that might be following him.
This scene proves Lecter's intelligence. Why the hell they erased this scene?
They had to remove all the Il Mostro’s subplot for pacing.

@DictatorRoB "il" is the definite article used for singular masculine nouns. It means that from Italian to English you translate "il" as "the", but from English to Italian "the" isn't always translated as "il"

Sorry but the policeman’s behaviour is not very real . In real life policemen can dismiss cross questioning like this one easily .
Maybe it was to point out how flawed of a detective pazzi really was.
the first 2 mins and 30ish seconds could be removed. I like the clue part...I think that aspect is lost because the scene starts nowhere so the audience is trying to over think about just what it is exactly there watching (in regards ti the scene not the movie lol) You start off from the first shot of him in the church and the scene moves quicker and is now useful. I might edit this back into the film myself...
