Hi! Love your videos. You are inspirational. Yes, I noticed Goodwill increase their priced and yes I try on clothes at second hand stores too except Goodwill took out dressing rooms here. A few weeks ago I also found one of those green molds which I think is an old jello mold (it stayed at the store). I also love milk glass and have a couple of vases. Much love & blessings from Missouri. ❤
The mystery Tupperware is a Jell-O mold!! They were from Beck I believe in the 70s maybe 80s🎉. You mix up your Jell-O and you can even do different layers if you like. You put it in the fridge overnight and then you undo the Tupperware and it’s easier for your jello mold to pop out. Then you put the jello mold on a plate! that red cake plate would be something fun to put a Jell-O mold on is with any plate for that matter. ❤😊
Miss Dawn, a size hack if u r shopping pants for urself: to know if they r wide enuf @ the waist-take the jeans off the hanger, holding the waist @ both of sides (right hand on one side, left hand on opposite side) w/ the button facing u then wrap waist around ur neck...IF THE SIDES TOUCH, (UR HANDS TOUCH), THEN THE WAIST WILL FIT UR WAIST!
O gosh ….. that jello mold reminds me of the movie “Christmas Vacation” (Chevy Chase)! The Scene is when the elderly Aunt arrived for Christmas with her homemade jello mold, filled inside with cat kibble!!! LOL!!!
I am 76 and in a wheelchair fulltime from muscular dystrophy. Procrastinating has been at the top of my list from lack of energy. I want you to know how much your suggestions have made a HUGE difference in my life...giving myself permission to do things in small chunks and giving myself permission to quit before everything is done. I'm getting more things done on time because of it. Thanks for your channel and your approach to life.
One hack I do when I plan a thrift store visit, it to wear a tank and leggings. This way I can slip on the clothes w/o a fitting room. Also the thickness of the leggings prevent me from buying too tight clothes for that tome of month.
A green jello mold! Your kids have such sweet, appreciative, respectful spirits about them. You and Tom have done such a good job raising them. I'm so glad you got that sweater for Maggie, she obviously loves it and looks so proud in it!
Dawn must be too young to remember all the church potlucks that were not complete without a jello mold :) Luckily my mom would make orange-flavored jello, but many folks made green jello in the green jello molds.
Thrifting rule: Must have a place for decorator item. Must love the clothing piece or it's a no. Fun thrifting with you both today. I agree, prices are going up. Good call on the sweater for Maggie. Very cute, worth a couple extra bucks to see that smile.
Dawn, a good tip for clothes shopping for your kids is to bring a sample of their good fitting jeans, then you can hold the two together to get a better idea of the waist and length. The hardest part is to remember to bring it with you! Love this video 🧡
Goodwill is often overpriced in my area as well. Sometimes I think thrift shops have gotten a bit “too big for their britches” when it comes to pricing! 😂
Yes! I've never been to Goodwill, because I've heard others complain of this. I'm lucky to have several thrift stores in my town. A few are way over priced. There is one that I love, it's SO cheap! I always check there first. 💰 Lol!! And our local consignment shop is great, too. They have incredible sales! Sometimes you just gotta hunt to find the right stores. 😉
Before I buy anything at a thrift store or even on sale, I say to myself "Do you love this enough to pay full price for it?" If the answer is no, then I don't get it. Although I almost never buy things full price, it's a great way for me to judge how much I actually like and will use the item. I also ask myself the famous Dawn question "Do you want to manage this item?". That one has helped me tremendously!
The kids did a great job modeling their "new" clothes! All my clothes are from the thrift stores except underclothes. Most of my furniture too with a few new things thrown in.
I think the higher prices reflect the inflation we are all experiencing--it affects everything. I have also been disappointed at some of the prices in the thrift stores--but then I don't buy! I'm 71 years old and I have learned so much from you, Dawn, especially about downsizing, decluttering and thinking before buying things. I am so grateful to be able to watch you and your beautiful family on RUclips. I hardly watch any TV anymore!!
Goodwill prices have gone up but it's due to everything else going up in cost. They have to deal with increased costs in supplies, wages for staff, etc. They aren't exempt from that. I will say, the prices on your video were much higher than here in west Michigan. The area definitely makes a difference.
After binging on your programs I did my first go through of my closet. Years of clothes, various sizes. I took 4 large kitchen garbage bags to our local Deseret Industries. I still have a closet and a half of summer clothes and five bins of winter clothes to go through. Thanks for helping me to begin.
Our goodwill is ridiculous on price now. Anything with a good brand is overpriced. They said they will not have fitting rooms any more. I am sure people buy and don’t return and they come out ahead! The Tupperware is a jello mold. Love everything you bought and your kids are adorable-just like mom!!!
I bought some jeans, one pair didn't fit and I tried returning them twice, wouldn't you know it, gee, the one and only person who could do the exchange wasn't available
The lack of fitting rooms has almost stopped me from going often. Or, I wear tiny clothes and just try stuff on anyway with a mirror. :-) I asked and they said theft was a huge problem that they could combat in part with removing fitting rooms. It also probably dramatically lowers their staffing for returning items to where they go. I am still VERY not happy with that.
Love that you see the plaid shirt for Corbin is considered dressing up. ❤ BTW he looked smashing in it and a bit cheeky when he modelled it. Each of your kids (and Tom too) have relaxed into the naturalness on video that you have always had.
This was fun! It’s good to see you processing and working on your love for shopping Dawn, because that’s a thing that so many people struggle with. Decluttering doesn’t get the job done by itself and donating is not the solution - we must buy less stuff.
My kids were extra slim and long-legged. I had to keep a measuring tape in my purse and measure the waist and inseam at all stores, not just thrift stores. And the tupperware is a jello mold! I thought everyone's grandma had one of those! Only Brach's candy corn is worth the price. If there is no changing room in a thrift store, I wear thin clothing and try clothes on in the aisle - LOL!
We live in Ontario, Canada and I would agree that the Goodwill prices here are just crazy. We also have Once Upon a Child which of course has really nice items that you can find but I often think that $6.00 for a second hand George brand shirt from Walmart is just silly. It probably cost $6.00 at Walmart!
Isn't it so fun to have a "Minnie Me"? My daughter looks like me, like Maggie looks like Dawn. It made me come to really appreciate myself/looks and now that my mom is gone, I really appreciate how I looked like her too. Anyway Maggie is such a sweetheart, great job.
Love how you talk yourself outta buying things! 🙂 This is not a perfect solution for sizing but take a tape measure with you along with a list of measurements of the kid's current clothes that fit. It will give you an easier way to guesstimate without just eyeballing it.
This is exactly what I was going to suggest. I've done it for many years:keep a little dressmaker's measuring tape in my purse or car, and keep a note of household/family members measurements in my phone (remember to take updated measurements occasionally, especially with growing kids), I even take measurements of areas in my home that I'm looking to furnish. With this method, I've bought a few furniture items and even bought my husband a fantastic suit, because I had all his measurements!
I agree with all of you about the tape measure and have done that myself. I also take pictures on my phone of items I am trying to match (a blouse for some pants, etc), so I don't end up with some odd combinations. I also have DVD's listed in my phone which I need to fill out a set, or other items I am looking for when visiting rummages or thrift shops. My phone is literally my brain, I'm afraid. I'd be lost without it.
Dawn you can also fill the white mold in the center with punch, fruit etc. freeze it, unmold it, and put it in a punch bowl, then you don't need ice. You can do the same with the outer ring as well. Every Christmas we freeze punch with lemon's limes and orange slices in the big mold and then we put it in the punch bowl add, more punch gingerale, and sherbert, keeps it cold and also it dosen't get watery.
I bought a black sweater at Value Village about 15 years(yes 15!) and it is still in my closet. I have worn it SOO many times and it washes like a dream!!! This, as you know is not always the case.
It’s a mellow mold! I had one just like it! Also the channel Lavender Closet - a thrifter and reseller was just railing on Goidwill prices too! You’re not alone!
At my Church's lady group we made those cake stands for a great price. You get a candlestick from a thrift store and a decorative plate from dollar tree, then glue the plate onto the candlestick. Done 😀. Only thing is if you don't already have gorilla glue or something else as strong then there's your expensive part. Since we all made them at the same time, we just needed to buy one glue for 20 - 25 women.
I'm so glad that you thrift! Not only for saving money but for reducing consumer waste. Thrifting for kids makes so much sense. They grow so fast. I bought several children's books last weekend for $15 for my grandbabies. I was so excited because one book new was $20. Thanks for sharing your day with us. Love you and your family!
Still have my jello mold! My grandmother use to put friut cocktail in her jello every holiday loved it! Always have to love the item to buy it, Always has been my rule.
@@gwenj5419 yup especially since the pandemic, and lots of crime they can't afford to have security in place to prevent while still keeping the prices reasonable. But also, I never buy my clothes from there anyways it's never that much less expensive and without the fitting rooms and the return policies etc it's just not worth the time rifling through and hoping and wishing lol. However I absolutely still love love love them for housewares and random things I need for my craft supplies, storage, even electronics etc of the smaller kind (heck I still have my little brother ptouch label maker i bought there for 3 bucks over 5 years ago and it works perfectly still. Score. Hahaha)
At our savers (atleast before the pandemic, not sure now) they had a different tag color being like 25-50% off for each day of the week. Like Monday, yellow tags half off, Tuesday purple tags, etc. That was pretty awesome. Love love finding what I need and seeing it as the color for that day. Haha best deals ever. Nowadays though I use Facebook marketplace the most because it directly helps the individual selling them and you don't get easily sidetracked by stuff as you walk by an aisle etc. Less impulse shopping when you have to be intentional to actually go pick up the individual item your buying etc. Def. Saved me alot of money and potentially regret buys over this past couple years. Love that!
One of the reasons their prices have increased is that if they aren’t competitive then online buyers and other small thrift shop owners use Goodwill to stock their own stores.
Thank you for your continued inspiration and support. 67 years young so very impressed with your videos. Please keep going with your enthusiasm. You (and your sister, husband, kids) are so very appreciated by me.
The only clothes I’ve been happy with from a thrift store were scrubs for myself and my coworkers. Definitely cheaper than a uniform store! My mother had that Jello mold. She made a lot of Jello! 🥰
What fun to tour thrift stores with you today! These days I'm mostly donating, not buying. So wish you and your channel had been available to me when my kids were growing up. You're always fun, Dawn. Btw, YES, the thrift store prices of late are ridiculous! Sometimes a blouse is $7 new, but the thrift store has it at $8!!
The green Tupperware container is for Jello. It makes a ring and you can put fruit, etc. in the middle once it's on the plate. Also, if you need an ice ring for a punch bowl, it's perfect for that as well. My mom has one. Very 60's / 70's!
I have had an amazing life so far with having been able to visit Paris (years ago) and shop there, but I must say that nothing beats the joy of finding a treasure at a thrift store that is the perfect purchase, and I am absolutely not too proud to recognize the true value of things like my $2.98 German leather loafers that garnered so many compliments. So I am dedicated to going anywhere I may find that "just right" thing - and watching Maggie derive so much joy from her cool thrift store blouse, that is the real answer. It is going to set her innate sense of style, and it could have come from Paris itself for all the pleasure and confidence it generates!
Great video! And I believe that most, if not all Goodwills have gotten rid of their fitting rooms, at least all the ones I have been to here in Minnesota.
And that was tooo sweet when your daughter brought that shirt that said “ I love Mom” and that looked cute on her even though a little pricey of $6.99 but some purchases are worth it with that huge smile on her face!
I love seeing others perception of "pricey", which varies from one person to the next already but especially to see it from people living on the mainland vs. Our costs here, 6.99 even at a savers here for a t shirt is usually the least expensive you'll get nowadays here. Another reason I don't bother on clothing at our islands thrift stores. But then again I don't even bother with clothing anymore. (OK, and yes I'm spoiled as heck from having modal and bamboo fabric clothings especially when I was pregnant, now I can't wear anything else comfortably. So I have the smallest wardrobe probably known to man, but yeah I sadly spent a bit more on them than even 6.99 but I will say, worth every penny as I wear them everyday. Changing between maybe a few pairs of yoga pants, a pair of jeans, rarely, and leggings etc. And just modal tank tops. The one thing I do tend to spend on clothing wise is sweaters.. yes in our tropical weather I wear sweaters daily. Lmao. Except this past month, it's been so freaking hot. Ufh. Sad I love my sweaters! To be fair, they're lightweight, thin and extremely comfortable and soft modal or bamboo sweaters.) But everything besides my 'leaving the house' black yoga pants, doubles as pajamas/loungewear. So yeah I have maybe only a dozen or 2 tops in clothing pieces that I wear daily in total.. not including the 4 large tote bins of clothes from when I was younger before being a work at home momma etc. That need to be donated asap and cleared out. But it'd always fascinating to see how many clothes I used to have, most probably rarely ever worn, and I just don't even know why I ever accumulated them to begin with. I guess as I get older i just care less about style and fashion in the sense of wearing something different (in looks not in actual item haha i don't re-wear the same outfit every single day, but honestly it kinda looks like it. Lots of black. But sooo comfy. That's def. Become my priority nowadays. Lol! But I'll tell ya, it def. Makes my closets alot less ridiculously overloaded and keeps me alot happier. So sorry, that was a long tangent. But yeah, for myself atleast I'm happy with a very small wardrobe as long as it's comfy as all heck. Hahaha. Spend my money and space on my craft room and baby boy over clothing any day
My mom had the first Tupperware jello mold, I think In 1960 or so. She did desert, salads and main dishes in it. She loved making a party-type dish without baking.
Great buys ! And worth every penny to see Maggie smile. I had to laugh at the green jello mold, as I tried to give mine away when downsizing. It sat on my mom's back porch waiting for a family member to take it. I made a blue jello mold with gummy fish for my children, a chocolate pudding mold with gummy worms for my son & occasionally tomato aspic or a shrimp mold. Thanks for the memories !
You are so right about Goodwill! The prices are ridiculous! I also agree that it's easier to thrift shop for children. I seldom find something for myself that fits and that I really like. And I had one of those Tupperware jello molds back in the day. 😁
The Tupperware jello mold from my childhood! There is an Assistance League thrift store just up the street. My looks and face and body were just made for vintage Talbots and they happen to have a section of the higher priced name brand clothes that’s heavy on newish and vintage Talbots. I have to restrain myself from going in because I ALWAYS find something awesome for a great price. I do a capsule wardrobe and it’s probably 95% from that one thrift store. I love thrifting, it doesn’t gross me out one bit. The emoji for thrifting is 😏.
I made your pumpkin Bundt cake last weekend and it was SOOOOO good! This was by far the best cake I have ever made. Even my husband liked it and he doesn’t like cake. (I know…weird) Thanks for the delicious recipe! And for the excuse for me to use the Bundt cake pan that’s been in my closet for years untouched!! Lol
Love it! I thrift differently now too. Now I thrift to resell. It's my part time job! I still get to find thrifted treasures, keep my home minimal, and make some money. win win win!
I am a true believer in resale shopping as well as 2 of my daughters! Kids clothes in good condition are a good buy. We have found many quality name brand clothes both for children and adults. Along with clothing and household items we have found everything from backpacks to handbags! I do have a rule before buying, I have to really like the item and have a definite place for it. If I buy an article of clothing I use the 1 in 1 out method to avoid over indulging. I keep a donate box handy to remind me not to buy something I don't need. It is fun exploring resale when I have something in mind that I am looking for. I do agree Goodwill prices have gone up so in our area they offer half off a different tag color each week. So I always hope that I find the sale tag to save a little extra on an item I want to buy!
This was such fun to watch! Loved seeing Maggie shop with you! That green thing is for making a Jello ring ... my relatives seemed to always dump a can of mixed fruit in the Jello/gelatin stuff and I thought that was unappetizing! Thanks for your fun video!
The Tupperware item is a jelly mould, I use it for ice ring punch when family gathers together, we always have punches. The hole in the middle is a good rest for punch ladle😁👍 🎉
I recently started following the RUclips page Well-loved and she has inspired me to start shopping thrift again for myself. With just a few easy alterations thing can fit perfectly. But I totally know what you are saying. It's a lot of work for adult women to find things that look good on our bodies. And we need to try things on!
That thing that looks like a Bundt cake maker is for making ice molds for punch bowls. My daughter never wanted secondhand stuff when she was a tween. We all wore hand me downs as kids. I turned her on to thrift stores and she is now hooked. She also has this group of young ladies who get together and they bring items they want to swap. They have a good time hanging out and stretch their closets for the cost of bringing a bottle of wine. She believes in recycling. I have foster kitten who is incontinent; she saw an almost full package of wee wee pads sitting on top of the garbage in a rich neighborhood and a really expensive, almost brand-new pet carrier, and brought them to me. I used the pads and love the carrier. I watch you and Cas and have been working on decluttering this house a drawer at a time. I cleaned out my linen closet recently and gave a giant bag of big towels to a horse farm that works with vets, and the smaller ones went to the shelter I foster for. "One man's garbage is another one's riches", my grandma always said.
Yes, the prices at Goodwill are so high now! We still have fitting rooms though (which we take advantage of too.) I have a local consignment store that I buy things for myself at. They have only accept nicer to high end brands so I pay a little more, but definitely less than buying new and I can try things on before buying. Plus, I take in any clothes I'm decluttering for store credit so I am able to pay for new things out of that.
My fav thrift store shopping was for cotton shirts with old fashioned prints (quarter each here). It took more than a yr to collect enough variety. Cut them up & used them for several quilts (dresdon plate, bow tie...). They are my fav quilts. Will use them forever.
Here in New Zealand thrift stores have become so expensive and everything gets really 'picked over'. It's actually cheaper to order clothing online and purchase from the clearance or sale items. You got some great jeans/tops for Maggie and the boys, they looked really good!
Hi Dawn, It's for making jelly and also a Philipino dessert with Condensed milk and gelatin with coloured jellys cut into squares mixed in. It is so nice. Jo from Australia xxx
Our thrift stores have had to pay a much higher wage to keep employees. So yes, the prices have definitely gone up. I still find some locations of the same chain will have higher pricing than others locations. Thanks for posting. 😊 Maggie rocked her new outfit 😊 the boys looked great too!
Dawn you are a breath of fresh air!!! I love your honesty and humility and frugalness!! Your inner self talk is SO relatable! Thank you for sharing!! Makes me feel sane lol
I have a Chef's Choice egg cooker. it contains a frame to poach 3 eggs and another frame to boil 7 eggs at once. it was $5 at a thrift store and I use mine weekly. Love mine.
My thrifting "rules" for myself: clothing have to be a "HECK YEAH!" exactly the way they are, and household stuff must be something I've been wanting AND at a minimum, I know exactly where it will go. The prices have gotten outrageous here, too, so I'm less likely to impulse buy!
The Tupperware item is a jello mold. I use mine for picnics, Thanksgiving and Christmas. Sometimes I will add pineapple bits, chopped pecans, apples and/or celery. But always add a can of whole cranberries. I also always add the pineapple juice and add water to 2 boxes of Jello. Yum!
The green tupperware thing is a Jello mould ;-) and the egg cooker is for breakfast eggs. I’ve experienced or seen them here in Germany, where it’s typical to have a soft-boiled egg for breakfast.
My friends and I love thrifting. Growing up in a large family it was so helpful. In the Chicago land area very few have a fitting room but many will put mirrors in back of the store. On thrift store day we wear leggings, a tight fitting top or tank top with a large top over it. Remove the large top and try on clothes in the back of the store over our tight fit clothes. 🤷 It the norm here. Everyone does it. LOL. Love you videos.
Thrift store prices where I live in North Dakota are higher too! Mostly because monetary donations which most of them rely on are down. So any donations they receive to resell those prices go up. Also when the thrift store starts moving to a boutique type retail they seems to also increase their prices. If things are too high priced people won't buy.
I loved my Discovery thrift store. I could always find clothes for myself and a few household items all for good prices. I moved from Portland and sure miss my shopping days at Discovery.
Yes. I totally set a timer also….on my phone. Especially for winners & marshals!! Once it goes off I have to head for the cash register!! That’s green circular Tupperware dish was a jello mould. My grandma had one. Lol. So fun! Does anybody make jello like a that anymore?
Green jello with crushed pineapple, shredded carrots, and shredded celery... with Cool Whip on top if we were lucky, and sour cream if not! Oh those 60s meals 😋 😍
I love hearing your girls names. Two of my great nieces are named Adeline (after my mother) and Magdalena (after her paternal grandmother) So, Maggie and Adeline warm my heart.
I bought an electric egg cooker once - an impulse buy and a waste of money. You are very lucky to have so many super large thrift stores - here in the UK our shopping areas mainly have small "charity" shops although there are a few larger ones specializing in furniture. Love your channel.
I LOVE ReStored!! The green and white tuperware was a jello mold...I grew up with one! Dawn, I think it is our height that keeps us from finding things for our selves!!
Goodwill prices have become INSANE. I’ve been shopping there since I was a little girl with my mom and the last year+ their prices have become so ridiculous. I’ve seen tops there marked as $30 just because it’s a “name brand.” But it’s used, that’s the whole point! To charge $30 for a worn shirt is crazy to me. Ok rant over, love your content always 🤗
Not to mention, they got it for FREE! I won’t donate to Goodwill bc most of the money just goes to the higher ups & not to actually help anyone. I think prices have increased bc of reselling online, but that really shouldn’t matter, it’s just greed as far as I’m concerned. I only buy the 50-75% off items when I do shop there now.
Goodwill’s prices have gotten outrageous!! And now they don’t sell furniture! 😩 we still go, but don’t buy near as much. Once upon a child is the best!!!❤️ they are my absolute favorite for children’s clothes, and they pay well when you sell back.
My only thrift store 'rule' is to be prepared to walk away with nothing. If there's not a great item or perfect match to my shopping list - I don't want to walk away with things that aren't really a fit for my life. 'Nothing' is better than something that isn't really awesome.
I get so frustrated thrifting! Clothes are something I have to try on. My daughter is 16, so she, like Adeline, has to be there to pick it out. I’m not sure if our Goodwill still has places to try on clothes! I WISH I was as frugal as you! Sometimes I’ll buy something just because it actually fits! Hope you’re doing great, Dawn!
I hear you on the fit part! Just finding something in the right length, after 20 stores in multiple towns you buy it unless you absolutely detest the fashion.
I go in leggings and a close fitting tee, and just try stuff on right in the aisle. Also our stores allow returns for credit, in 7 days if the tags are still on.
Thank you to Allform for sponsoring! Visit the link below or go to allform.com/minimalmom for 20% off any sofa of your choice! I hope you have a great weekend! Love, Dawn
I have been looking for a sofa, I just order if they deliver to Scotland!!
Hi! Love your videos. You are inspirational. Yes, I noticed Goodwill increase their priced and yes I try on clothes at second hand stores too except Goodwill took out dressing rooms here. ❤😊
Friend! It’s a Jell-O mold! You may have to turn you midwesterner card in if you’re not careful. 😂
Dawn, the item you asked about is a Jello bundt mold.
Yup! Jello mold
The inside of the Tupperware is also a jello mold. I had one many many years ago but both of those looked brand new.
That one looked “vintage!” 😂
O gosh ….. that jello mold reminds me of the movie “Christmas Vacation” (Chevy Chase)! The Scene is when the elderly Aunt arrived for Christmas with her homemade jello mold, filled inside with cat kibble!!! LOL!!!
tupperware's claim to fame, I think that single item made tupperware a household name.

That's what I do!
Genius idea 💡👍😁
Do you know the pants hack? Instead of holding the waistband up to your waist, if you can wrap the waistband around your neck, the jeans will fit.
@@heidilarson5109 I believe it's the waistband around your arm. Having your hand fully streached and elbow inside the trouses
GREAT IDEA….also a measuring tape to measure for kids that aren’t with you
Note of appreciation: I love the way you talk about your kids! It's so respectful and joyful. Thanks for being a positive mom influence. :D
A green jello mold! Your kids have such sweet, appreciative, respectful spirits about them. You and Tom have done such a good job raising them. I'm so glad you got that sweater for Maggie, she obviously loves it and looks so proud in it!
We have frozen meatloaf mixture in it and then baked it and added green peas in the middle - looks nice and somehow my kids actually ate the peas.
Totally agree about Maggie's sweater, you could tell she really loves it!
😂
My thoughts exactly!
Absolutely! I’m always shocked how much they charge sometimes considering they’re getting the items for free.. especially on name brand things.
I rarely shop Goodwill because of that. Teen Challenge has a thrift shop near me that has great prices.

Although I almost never buy things full price, it's a great way for me to judge how much I actually like and will use the item. I also ask myself the famous Dawn question "Do you want to manage this item?". That one has helped me tremendously!
Great question to ask!
The kids did a great job modeling their "new" clothes! All my clothes are from the thrift stores except underclothes. Most of my furniture too with a few new things thrown in.
Your daughter looks so confident and cool in her new sweater! Love it😇
I think the higher prices reflect the inflation we are all experiencing--it affects everything.
No impulse buying!!! You are getting me to become a minimalist. I wish I could get more done faster but I am so proud I am starting to declutter.
Yep, Jello mold. I'm 70 years old and I'm pretty sure I had one!
Goodwill in my area doesn’t do returns anymore at all
I bought some jeans, one pair didn't fit and I tried returning them twice, wouldn't you know it, gee, the one and only person who could do the exchange wasn't available
Actually it’s two jello molds in one.
This was a fun Thrift With Me, Dawn! You found some awesome clothing pieces for the kids! Thanks for taking us along! 😊🛍💕
This was fun! It’s good to see you processing and working on your love for shopping Dawn, because that’s a thing that so many people struggle with. Decluttering doesn’t get the job done by itself and donating is not the solution - we must buy less stuff.
You can also use the jelly mold to make an ice ring for the punch bowl.
Yes! We used to do that with fruit in it too! 80’s Christmas memories 😊
Yes!
Great.
Jello Bundt mold but it’s also great to freeze for punch!
Her body type is like her mom, but her face is definatly like her dads.
Dawn, I just love your channel. I think the biggest thing you’re taught me is to let go of the guilt and that the stuff talks to you.
Love how you talk yourself outta buying things! 🙂 This is not a perfect solution for sizing but take a tape measure with you along with a list of measurements of the kid's current clothes that fit. It will give you an easier way to guesstimate without just eyeballing it.
ALso you can put the waist of the pants around your neck to see if they will fit your waist😮 crazy right, but it has worked for me every time.
Holy cow! This works! I just took off the pants I was wearing, held them flat and put the waist around my neck. Who knew?!
That's such an awesome idea!!!!
That is a jello mold! You pour your jello in and stick it in the fridge! Then you put the bottom in warm water to unmold it onto a plate.
Yes it is!!! My mom has one and I have a different style Tupperware jello mold.
Still have my jello mold! My grandmother use to put friut cocktail in her jello every holiday loved it! Always have to love the item to buy it, Always has been my rule.
Yes!!! Our goodwill has skyrocketed! We have a “Savers” though and they have the whole store half off on Mondays! The BEST deals!
Us too wish it just wish it was closer! Lol love savers!
Last time I went to Savers, I picked out several cute tops only to find out that they no longer have fitting rooms 😒
when I was younger we used those tupperware moulds for moulded club sandwiches👌
What fun to tour thrift stores with you today! These days I'm mostly donating, not buying. So wish you and your channel had been available to me when my kids were growing up. You're always fun, Dawn. Btw, YES, the thrift store prices of late are ridiculous! Sometimes a blouse is $7 new, but the thrift store has it at $8!!
Our goodwill stores prices have gone crazy too, I try to go to the local owned thrift stores because I know they help our community more directly
This video is so wholesome 🥰 Your kids are so gorgeous and polite ❤️
Hahaha. Spend my money and space on my craft room and baby boy over clothing any day
Maggie and Adeline are so pretty. Your children are so much fun to watch. They are just precious.
Everyone had one of those jello molds back in the 70s. Blast from the past!
Dawn, I am with you on trying on clothes at a thrift stores. Thanks for sharing!
It’s a Tupperware jello mold! I was helping my sister declutter for an up coming move and we found the identical one at her house!
My mom had the first Tupperware jello mold, I think In 1960 or so. She did desert, salads and main dishes in it. She loved making a party-type dish without baking.
It is a Tupperware jello form. I use it to freeze juice for a frozen ring to put in my punch bowl.
(I know…weird)
Thanks for the delicious recipe! And for the excuse for me to use the Bundt cake pan that’s been in my closet for years untouched!! Lol
The green Tupperware was a jello mold. Works really well.
Aww, that’s great getting to see your kiddos with their new clothes on and the big smiles on their faces😀
Jelly mound, you could also add chopped fruit in the centre once it has set and you’ve removed it from the mould.
Ditto. Utah, USA. Too poor for thrifting, but Walmart clearance is affordable.
Maggie's sweater is so cute! And it looks like she may even get two years out of it so $7 isn't bad.
I agree that thrift store prices have gotten outrageous.
One day we went to Good will and we found the batman t shirt the same day that the new movie was in the theater. It was hack yeah!
Yum!
I love how you said “this is why we need to leave.” 😂 I’m the same way. Thrifting is great but it’s easy to get carried away with all the good deals.
It's a jello mold! Used to have one. The kiddos all look so cute!!! 😍 Thnx for the recipe!
The mystery tupperware container was a Jello mold! A blast from my childhood! 😆
Thank you for this fun video! You are SO uplifting; watching your videos is making a positive difference in my heart and in our home. You are a gift.
"You are so lucky that I love you". We say that *all* the time in our home. 😆
My mom used to say it, too!!!
I say that a lot to my daughter. Wasnt a said thing much when growing up
The green tupperware thing is a Jello mould ;-) and the egg cooker is for breakfast eggs. I’ve experienced or seen them here in Germany, where it’s typical to have a soft-boiled egg for breakfast.
It’s a jello mold or it can be used to make an ice ring 😊
I have that green jello mold. It works really great. I have had it for around 30 years now.
Me too, just put the same comment, lol.
I was doing this well before the pandemic, usually to avoid fitting room lines.
Maggie looks adorable in that top! Great buy!
Jello mold! No, I don't think people make jello like that anymore!!!
I do! My husband especially loves the layered jello dessert. You should definitely try it. 😄
@@TheMinimalMom Yes they do! I like orange jello with mandarin oranges.
@@TheMinimalMom i used one just like that to make "Watergate Salad" many years ago. So good.
Green jello with crushed pineapple, shredded carrots, and shredded celery... with Cool Whip on top if we were lucky, and sour cream if not! Oh those 60s meals 😋 😍
Jello mold. Egg poacher. Thanks for taking us along.
Jello mold was the green Tupperware item. I have to be careful thrifting. Also our goodwill is fairly expensive for many things
Round green tupperware was a jello mold. Fancy. Usually fruit added placed in a design pattern inside jello.
I love thrift finds! but I have to love it to buy it. If it’s not a definite “yes”, then it’s a “no”! 👍🏻😁 Especially at a thirty store!
Last year they had Christmas mail boxes for 6.99 exactly like the ones I got at The Dollar tree for, you guessed it, a $1..🤪
11:20 oh, you missed the 1970s jello mould experience. and that egg poacher thing is really handy for travelling, i had one for years and we loved it.
Goodwill’s prices have gotten outrageous!! And now they don’t sell furniture! 😩 we still go, but don’t buy near as much.
Once upon a child is the best!!!❤️ they are my absolute favorite for children’s clothes, and they pay well when you sell back.
Tupperware Jelly mold. Big in the 1970 and 80s potlucks
My only thrift store 'rule' is to be prepared to walk away with nothing. If there's not a great item or perfect match to my shopping list - I don't want to walk away with things that aren't really a fit for my life. 'Nothing' is better than something that isn't really awesome.
Jello mold. Great for freezing a ring of ice for punch or for making an icecream cake
