Yeah Guts has a lot of character development through the series, and during the timeline his attitude shifts quite a bit, but its usually obvious why that is . Love it when guts goes in berserk mode as well, the 1vs100 episode really nailed in the title drop on these episodes.

I do wish at some point, they switch over to the memorial edition because while it isnt perfect, 1997 skips over a critical chapter for Guts character and a certain character. They should watch ep 18 and then switch to ep 8 of the memorial edition
Berserk has so much violance and so many terrible things happening to everyone, that moments like the Bonfire of Dreams are all the more powerful. Everything is so chaotic, that we really appreciate a moment to breathe and ponder some philosophy.

Why would manga versions of a mercenary demon killing character be any different than the anime version in regards to changing your opinion on whether or not they could hypothetically win a fantasy vs battle against a video game character dude…? The anime did a great job of telling the guts characters story considering the limitations of episode screentime and other things that adaptations usually all have to write around but yeah bro guts is guts in both mediums so just for the sake of argument it seriously would not change your perceptions of the character in a non canonical what-if vs battle with cloud strife dude trust
