No-one has done PVA in carp fishing longer than Gardner Tackle. The company’s founder, Rick Gardner, was the first person to bring dissolving string to the angling market way back in the 1980s. Since then, carpers have been treated to various tapes, webs, bags and strings, but Gardner have always been there, producing a huge array of dissolving products. A relative newcomer in the PVA pantheon, these straw-like PVA tubes from Gardner Tackle are great for keeping tangle-prone hooklinks dead straight. You can also cut the tubes into smaller pieces to trap Hairs in place. Another great feature is the ability to fill the booms with PVA-friendly liquids, allowing you to get an enticing scent and flavour right over your rig.

They used to do a PVA liquid that you would coat your supple braid with, it dried hard and would melt when in water. I might have to give these a go.👍Just googled it and they still do it,Kryston no tangle gel.

Good idea but the rig will not reset as well as it would with a stiff boom after ejected takes and bird pick ups.

@@billywillimson899 definitely not hard to understand that but how some people struggle with suppler hook links is, because when I was carping and we scaled down me and my mates used to knock long stick mix's up in 15mm PVA and pull the hook link through from a quarter of the way up the stick or put a very small ball of PVA wrapped pellet on the hook to pull the hook link straight when you hit the clip and let the waight pull the rod forward like the match fishermen do and can't remember any of us having problems with tangle's

It's a good idea if ur on a lake where u don't get birds diving down on ur bait and if the first nibble lands you a run if not your going to constantly changing rigs just use stiff boom resets every time and doesn't tangle on the cast and I noticed a few people saying it's getting nuts the amount of new tackle coming out be it must be fun for them to sit there blanking sayin I just like to be out it's not about the fish ... bollocks if it helps catch more fish then get on it but I think this pva boom depends on the type of lakes you fish and u should have multiple rigs ready to change over as fish can in you swim then disappear just as quick so for me it's 50 50

I found with the PVA booms they buoyant so hold the hook link up and once melted drops the bait on the weight or line. Not saying it does it all the time. But yes it's stiff but its very buoyant so doesn't just lay on the bottom flat

  • @twincamspit

It's all well and good getting a supple rig laid perfectly straight but afther carp feeding round the rig and nuisance fish picking it up it's a waste of time and money.Plus if you test one in water they curl up a bit when they dissolve.I tryed them years ago when they first came out as a unbranded product.
