I had front row seats for WCW Slamboree in 1997, Charlotte, NC. Main event was Ric Flair, Roddy Piper, and Carolina Panthers star Kevin Greene vs The Outsiders and Syxx. The height of the NWO days. It was one of the greatest nights of my life! The Nature Boy was returning from several months out due to injury. The build up to it was insane, and the match itself, crazy! The crowd was thundering! The atmosphere was through the roof! The two biggest heels of the 80s team up as babyfaces to take on a new evil! What a night!

in my much younger days, in the darkest 3 TV station, basackwards hillbilly part of indiana, all i had was wrestling magazines. Ric Flair was on all the covers. "How can a guy keep a push for so long?" id ask. Finally in 1984, an accident happened & TBS arrived!! Of evry1 id read about, RIC Flair lived up2 & surpassed the hype. thanx for the ride Ric! may the legend live on

The greatest wrestler heel of all time
Vince is the greatest heel of all time, but it's pretty easy to be a heel when you run the company
It takes talent to make a crowd hate you, to care enough to hate you, as a wrestler
    Roddy was the best

I hated you Ric Flair because I was such a big Rowdy Roddy Piper fan, but I enjoyed the fights you two use to have! It's good to know that you were good friends in real life! I liked the time you attacked Piper while he was announcing one of your matches and you hit him over the head with a wooden chair, what a classic! You were a great champion Ric Flair, I only wish Piper had his time, because he deserved it! The thing that Piper and Flair had in common was their great sense of showmanship, you don't see that in today's wrestling! Bravo Ric Flair and RIP Rowdy Roddy Piper!

I disagree, I thought the Flair/Piper matches were really awesome. My favorite was when Piper pulled something from his trunks, knocked Flair out with it, then threw it into the crowd...only to have Flair confront him with it on television. I guarantee more fans started showing up and paying extra for the good seats after that

You don't have to have a belt to be a champion, he was born one, he was wrestling at that time. He was probably the only one who could act out of that bunch of so called wannabe's. I missed the flavour he brought to to the wrestling in America.

the "Business" started with RRP vs HH..as much as Thunderlips in Rocky 3 was my 1st introduction to wrestling? without a villain that was hated as much as Piper? wrestlemania wouldnt have exploded lol... Piper imo was the KING !! dont forget that in 1985 , the art of wrestling appeared "real" to most viewers. and holy shit did he sell it.. not so much
Saturday to see what was going to happen next.
