I need to work on subcategories because when I try to import an assets file (that I created) into a category as a subcategory, it creates a new category. The default name is #2 of the category I was trying to upload it into. Maybe I don't understand the panel enough. Anyway, it hasn't prevented me from getting all of the benefits of using it. Thanks!
Might be the way you're adding the asset. Once you create your sub category drag and drop the asset into that sub category only and see if it works like that
@@BrownBearProductions While I can create a sub-category and drag assets from the open document into it, an asset file can't be imported as a sub-category. It again makes its own category and it default names it as #2 with the name of the category into which I'm trying to import it. There is also no option to import an asset file into the open category. It's not a problem. Just something I noticed in my desire to be super-organized. Thanks for your help.
That's the standard view when you first open it. All the IOS 12 section has all the iPhone assets if you need them. The Default area is for you to add your own assets
Yes the assets feature is very helpful but not reliable. Over time I'd built a huge library of assets with various categories and sub-categories for my pattern designs. Sometimes I'd have an idea for a motif design it and just add it to my asset library but unfortunately after a recent Affinity Designer crash after I restarted AD my entire library had disappeared and the only one left was the default IOS one. I feel devastated as I don't know if it can be recovered. Just make sure all your assets are backed up else where!
Because it keeps the colours even Or because the lights are too bright and he's sensitive to them Or because he has no eyes at all Or because he's actually in the matrix You decide 😉
How you like them assets eh?
Thanks. Your explanations are very helpful
The asset panel is an amazing tool
This software is blooming amazing...Thank you for the explanation....
Wicked tutorial buddy. Straight to the point. Nice one 👍🏾👍🏾
Hi, thanks for the tutorial, just wondering is there a way to delete multiple assets at the same time? thanks!
Not that I'm aware of unfortunately. Hopefully in the future this will be added
Well explained and helpful! Thank you Brown Bear :-}
Any time 👍🏽 glad it was helpful
the assets panel is a great tool, what I'm begging for is a DAM system similar to Bridge, that would ideal
YES! Same! Would love something like that

@ArtsyLadyCrafter yes that's true. An assets file can't go straight into a sub category. Unless someone has a workaround for it
What was that website called for assets?
Fontawesome
@@BrownBearProductions thanks.
I haven't opened Assets before, but do you know why I have a populated 'iOS 12' option (and empty Default) in my Windows version?

@@BrownBearProductions Thanks for the reply. I've moved over from MS Publisher and Serif PagePlus and it's a frustration finding everything.

Damn sorry to hear that! Definitely worth having a back up somewhere just in case this happens. For sure reminded me to do that next time too 👍🏽
@@BrownBearProductions Thanks and you're welcome! 😊
I always export my assets file when I finish my work session and if I add new assets to it.
Also helpful to put that assets file on cloud storage area to import if working on different workstations or to import to iPad as well
@@BrownBearProductions What cloud storage do you use?
Why is this guy wearing sunglasses inside while working with colors? Lol
Because it keeps the colours even
Or because the lights are too bright and he's sensitive to them
Or because he has no eyes at all
Or because he's actually in the matrix
You decide 😉
