One of my favorite tracks from the 80s.
Somebody`s Watching Me by Rockwell
Produced by Curtis Anthony Nolen and Rockwell, Motown Records (1983)
featured the Moog Prodigy (1979)
This cover song series contains my own recreations of my favourite songs from the last 50 years. The original music from which I take inspiration belong to their respective owners. I recreate tracks only for personal passion and to pay homage to these tracks.
My intention is not to create covers that sound exactly like the original (if you want to hear identical sounds, please listen the original). It's more of an inspiration with my sounds from the old synthesizers from the past and of course the great appreciation for the original performers and producers.

This track is the time that 80’s R&B meets gothic. It’s got a funky bassline fused with a spooky goth sound in the keyboard arrangement. This combination makes it kinda special and one of a kind.

@@SuperSteading I don't think it's a trend per se, but a coincidence I guess. I listen to a lot of genre's (including various darkwave ones but also 80's R&B and others) and I thought was an interresting and rare combination of styles.
It's far enough down either line that it would be interesting hearing Robert Smith do the vocals.
Yazoo in some of their pieces might be a good example of the concept. You have the dusky almost MoTown / RnB vocals with synth and lyrics which carried a more Darkwave atmosphere.
Even the mailman is watching me. Then a kind neighbor lady quietly informed me I had forgotten to put on pants.

Great rendition, you really nailed it. Michael Jackson singing the chorus! Had a Prodigy mk2 in the 80's, still miss it. The Osc sync is the best.

I love this tune, it often turns in my head... this melody belongs to those that cannot be confused with anything and is remembered from the first listening and becomes special. Such melodies are always original in their sound, for example: "Ghostbusters" or "Beverly Hills cop." Thank you for the good mood!
