Very end-4014 was routed into El Paso on the "Southern" track/trestle-the old El Paso & Southwestern mainline. Eastbounds are typically routed over the North track/trestle (which is the former SP Sunset Route). Crossing the old ATSF El Paso sub below (which follows the Rio Grande on a water level route). The BNSF and UP interchange on the old EP&SW track about 1.5 miles down the tracks! (This is the route that Santa Fe passenger trains used to reach Union Station before Amtrak). The SP assumed operations of the EP&SW during the Great Depression, so both of the bridges and track routes are now part of the UP. When I was a kid in El Paso (on the westside), at night you would hear the whine of the dynamic brakes of the SP trains descending the grade from the high mesa in New Mexico down to the area where the trestle were, and you'd hear the SP's unique Nathan P3 horns blowing for the crossing at Santa Teresa.
Always good journeys through the States in the future. Great respect for the the superbe staff and very motivated drivers! Thanks for the the production of the video. ❤
You forgot to mention all the tiny towns it stopped at, like Willcox, and Bowie, AZ and Lordsburg, NM. I imagine most all of Bowie, AZ's 500 population was there to greet Big Boy.
Big Steam power at its best.
The steam crew at UP have excelled by rebuilding this historic Loco to a high standard and should be rewarded .
One beautiful behemoth.

Why is there a diesel locomotive included?
They couldn't use 4014 regular tender they shouldn't use 3985 tender that is just wrong they don't need two whistles
