I had a thought; it seems to be implied that for someone to move on after they died in the cabin, every last piece of their body needs to be consumed. Meaning that the remains of the chompetts are still in the cabin unconsumed. Kind of makes sense when you remember that Karen was chomping on the remains of her friends in the basement. Potato at one point also mentions that eating him would cause you to be deathly ill. Does that mean he’s referring to his actual corpse still in the basement, rotted beyond belief?

@@imenm3530 very well could be. I'd like to clarify the gallery picture though. All the other images are full screen pictures, and the ghosts in particular all have black background. Maria's ghost however, has no background, and looks like it's overlayed over the gallery itself, if that makes sense.
I don’t know why but seeing that image at the end of them all cowering was just really sad to me. Just seeing cabbage at the front, bravely defending her friends and knowing that in the end they were murdered anyway. They were just kids :(

You know, I think they originally were going to give the right answer to the baba yaga, but then Karin was prideful, and like "c'mon, we can't be superstitious just because a creepy old lady asked THAT question" and cut in to say the truth. She seems like the type to put pride above all.

What if cornbread was there from the beginning? If the player was part of the group who entered the cabin and was singled out for the apprenticeship we could have been sent to get Razael back from wandering off. Kinda like how the others leave Razael could have left to get food and we were told to bring him back. We did and found Potato killing the others so killed him, only for Razael to become our first victim. It could even be Razael was there with us when we had to eat our companions to survive and therefore could see them too. Razael then sacrificed themselves so we could live when we ran out off food. Hence we eventually let them go. We owed them.
I still like to think the chompettes as an allegory for the characters in the cabin: Karin is Cabbage, Anatoly is Onion, Gregor is Bread, Mariah is Raspeberry and we are Potato. Another thing that convinces me is the fact that Onion told us to protect Anatoly and Bread did the same for Gregor, and we always seemed to be on the same page with Potato, kind of like we understand each other in a way different from the rest of the Chompettes
That little teaser at the end is pretty strongly implying that the Chompettes were a different group, a group of children, it seems. But maybe that's a misdirection.
I was surprised how much I liked this theory. I was struggling to figure out the whole deal behind the Chompettes and why Potato was radically different to them, along with why there was only one new Chompette after the deaths of the four main characters. I think the 'rules' you put forward to explain how Turnip was created made a lot of sense, and I liked the potential backstory for the MC; it explains why he won't let the Chompettes go and it gives him more depth than simply "Baba Yaga gonna Baba Yaga everybody".

I honestly thought that you had to eat a person, to turn into a veggie and then to be killed in the cabin (wendigo style). I might have missed a lot but that was the vibe it was giving, that they had all ate one person (cornbread?) and that was why they were all veggies.
4:43 *OBJECTION!* Actually in the game, it can be by our hands. Karen was cutting him up, sure, but she wanted him *ALIVE.* She thought it was a better way to preserve the meat. If he died, he would rot. We can kill him to spare him from his misery, though he will die either way.
Maybe he didn’t count as we didn’t kill him because of the “hunger” but out of mercy..or perhaps it doesn’t count as the fatal wounds from Karen take priority making his death not our fault (he’d die either way).
I think he says it later but it has to be done by the baba yaga in the basement for it to be a chompette, all other deaths centered around the cabins are ghosts
Loved watching this game on GTlive. I do have one question: If potato is the one who killed the four, why is raspberry so angry with the character? We apparently avenged their death by killing potato so why isn't raspberry mad at potato?
To be fair, she seems very bored in the picture, so my guess is she actually didn't expected to die, she might have just thought it was some sick joke. So when she actually died, she felt extremely mad. But that's just my theory

I haven’t played the game, but I have a theory form what I have seen. I think cornbread is one of potato’s victims, assuming that the player killed all the other chompettes. He was let go because his spirit was not claimed by you. You claimed the spirit of the one who claimed his, so that maybe cancelled out and might explain if there were other chompettes before, because if there were other victims, why are there no other chompettes? Just food for thought (no pun intended)
Who did the voices for the chompettes? They did an amazing job! Especially potato’s voice, he not only sounds very dark but also sounding bored and uninterested in any games the others wanna play.
I find it sus that four characters (raspberry, onion, cabbage and bread) were more "native crops" to Eastern European soils, but potato (and corn) came there way later, after Columbus and co discovered new lands and new trade ways. This might mean nothing, but it makes potato an odd one again. Ah, and the turnip is quite a native crop to Europe too.

You must photograph points of interest and the only coordination you get is a map and a giant cam at the front. There seems to be ancient ruins and horrific beasts roaming about. @@imenm3530 very well could be. I'd like to clarify the gallery picture though. All the other images are full screen pictures, and the ghosts in particular all have black background. Maria's ghost however, has no background, and looks like it's overlayed over the gallery itself, if that makes sense.

I don’t know why but seeing that image at the end of them all cowering was just really sad to me. Just seeing cabbage at the front, bravely defending her friends and knowing that in the end they were murdered anyway. They were just kids :(

You know, I think they originally were going to give the right answer to the baba yaga, but then Karin was prideful, and like "c'mon, we can't be superstitious just because a creepy old lady asked THAT question" and cut in to say the truth. She seems like the type to put pride above all.

If the player was part of the group who entered the cabin and was singled out for the apprenticeship we could have been sent to get Razael back from wandering off. Kinda like how the others leave Razael could have left to get food and we were told to bring him back. We did and found Potato killing the others so killed him, only for Razael to become our first victim.
It could even be Razael was there with us when we had to eat our companions to survive and therefore could see them too. Razael then sacrificed themselves so we could live when we ran out off food. Hence we eventually let them go. We owed them.
Just from the title I knew it was cooking companions part two…I love this game and the theories surrounding it so much :).

I still like to think the chompettes as an allegory for the characters in the cabin: Karin is Cabbage, Anatoly is Onion, Gregor is Bread, Mariah is Raspeberry and we are Potato. Another thing that convinces me is the fact that Onion told us to protect Anatoly and Bread did the same for Gregor, and we always seemed to be on the same page with Potato, kind of like we understand each other in a way different from the rest of the Chompettes
That little teaser at the end is pretty strongly implying that the Chompettes were a different group, a group of children, it seems. But maybe that's a misdirection.

I was surprised how much I liked this theory. I was struggling to figure out the whole deal behind the Chompettes and why Potato was radically different to them, along with why there was only one new Chompette after the deaths of the four main characters. I think the 'rules' you put forward to explain how Turnip was created made a lot of sense, and I liked the potential backstory for the MC; it explains why he won't let the Chompettes go and it gives him more depth than simply "Baba Yaga gonna Baba Yaga everybody".

I honestly thought that you had to eat a person, to turn into a veggie and then to be killed in the cabin (wendigo style). I might have missed a lot but that was the vibe it was giving, that they had all ate one person (cornbread?) and that was why they were all veggies.

Maybe he didn’t count as we didn’t kill him because of the “hunger” but out of mercy..or perhaps it doesn’t count as the fatal wounds from Karen take priority making his death not our fault (he’d die either way).

Loved watching this game on GTlive. I do have one question: If potato is the one who killed the four, why is raspberry so angry with the character? We apparently avenged their death by killing potato so why isn't raspberry mad at potato?
Because the Baba Yaga possessed guy wont let their souls go, and probably ate them.
To be fair, she seems very bored in the picture, so my guess is she actually didn't expected to die, she might have just thought it was some sick joke. So when she actually died, she felt extremely mad. But that's just my theory

I haven’t played the game, but I have a theory form what I have seen. I think cornbread is one of potato’s victims, assuming that the player killed all the other chompettes. He was let go because his spirit was not claimed by you. You claimed the spirit of the one who claimed his, so that maybe cancelled out and might explain if there were other chompettes before, because if there were other victims, why are there no other chompettes?

Who did the voices for the chompettes? They did an amazing job! Especially potato’s voice, he not only sounds very dark but also sounding bored and uninterested in any games the others wanna play.

I find it sus that four characters (raspberry, onion, cabbage and bread) were more "native crops" to Eastern European soils, but potato (and corn) came there way later, after Columbus and co discovered new lands and new trade ways. This might mean nothing, but it makes potato an odd one again.

Petition for Matt to Play "Iron Lung" and find The Lore behind The Expedition. It's a game where you pilot a welded shut submarine. You must photograph points of interest and the only coordination you get is a map and a giant cam at the front. There seems to be ancient ruins and horrific beasts roaming about. I highly recommend for Matpat to check it out.
