Thanks Brian. I plan to do a painting video for this hen but that will be for purchase on my web site. Will post a few pictures of the completed bird on my RUclips channel though.
A lot of great tips! Thanks for all your work on these video's. Question: What determines when you leave the bird kind of squarish at the bottom as opposed to coming in a bit at the bottom and rounding it out a bit? (so it doesn't look flat. I hope this makes sense)
I will probably do a little more rounding down there before I’m done. The flat bottom is because this bird is carved as if it’s floating in water (ie the leg stubs as well). Most of the carvings I do are decoy-like vs. a full rounded belly. Thanks for the question SO LT.
@@SheilaUva I have a Tornado 1000 bench top unit and a Powermatic central system Sheila. They are pretty noisy though so I wear noise cancelling head phones so I can listen to music while I carve.
I am learning so much from these. Thank you for posting so frequently.
Thanks Steven! I’m sure the frequency will go down a bit after I carve this one but I do plan to keep adding some content. Thanks for the feedback.
Really appreciate your videos Tom! You've inspired me to pick up my carving again after a long break.

@@tomchristieart Thanks Tom.
I love your work and wonder where to get your grinding and sanding port.
Thanks Sheila! Are you referring to the dust collection system?
@@tomchristieart yes, I grind in solid resin and need a quiet system to keep the dust away.
