So inspiring. I was born in Cuba. Afrocuban. Always defending my African ancestry. Proud of it. I’m also mixed. Light with colonizers blood and Chinese blood.
Should we really care about what Dominicans think? In California I have a Dominican co worker she told me in New York she was a Latina. In California Hispanics there call her black and some have called her the N Word lol Blk Americans have created some of the finest music, finest musicians, influential political movements, advancements in science & agriculture Literary Works, style that not only influenced America but the World. Even Latin Jazz ( Name changed from Afro Cuban in 1971 by a light hued Dominican owned Phania Records) in New York City in the 1930-40s blended sophisticated Jazz Improvisation Harmonies with Afro Cuban Rhythms. The Genre was created in NY when Afro Cuban musicians teamed up with African American Jazz musicians. She seems like a nice lady, and I wish her much success. That being said we cannot allow groups/cultures like Dominicans to move onto the continent, we are moving towards building a BLACK power for Africans. We cannot afford to allow more groups that hate us into our motherland.
How are you building a Black power base when most Africans dont identify as BLACK? They identify by their tribe and/or nationality on the continent. You still have some learning to do.
Who’s we? I highly doubt the Africans are of the same mindset as you. You are just discovering the goodness of Africa. Meanwhile the building has been going on for years courtesy of many groups of people, same as America and other nations. Please also note we are not a racist people so you will not be hearing cries for black power.
Everybody wants to exploit Africa. Everybody wants to get what they can. As an African, more specifically as a black person who is treated unfairly by the rest of THE WORLD you need to know Africa is for Africans and don't just be fooled by a pretty smile. That privilege works around the world and Africa needs to remember that as a black person you are discriminated against everywhere. Africa for Africans because you need to go home and build you continent FOR YOU. For YOU AND THE PPL OF AFRICA. All these others that are coming there are going take back to their own countries. Indian, Asian etc...even if they have to suddenly say, "I'm black too." This statement is only used when they can profit from it. Watch how quickly they are suddenly not black when they can not profit from it. 😑 Everyone is coming for Africa. Some of us wanna come home because the world is against us and we want to make Africa what it deserves to be. Don't be fooled by those just coming for profit for themselves and then going back where they came from. When the world sh!ts on black ppl no matter where they are in the world we need to be able to come home. Come home to the motherland and not be sh!t on by the same damn ppl but now on your own soil. Keep your eyes open Africa. You've been warned. EVERYBODY WANTS A PIECE OF AFRICA.
You are sounding very militant, but I wonder how you will do if you actually come to Africa and try to live here. We have heard many who came with that rhetoric and they went running back to good ol' USA cause Africa was too real for them to handle
I have never experienced racism neither felt the feeling of inferiority complex when at home(Africa in general) but when I (we) see the pain of foreign nationals of African descent getting targeted on for nothing at all, I hate the outside world even more with it's people. Most of the statues in the Dominican Republic have been altered to look less black. It's a great documentary by Professor Gates on the Dominican Republic when it comes to race. Haiti & the Dominican Republic: An Island Divided. You also have The Parsley massacre where Dominican dictator Rafael Trujillo ordered the Dominican army from different areas to massacre Haitians living in the Cibao region in October 1937. The hate there is deeply rooted, and I don't think it can be changed in this lifetime.
Read some more, - about the 22 years of Haitian domination, the killing of whole towns in DR by Haitian armies. That has nothing to do with anything and it didn't happen at all right?. Dominican are first native Taino Indian then Spaniards(they discovered America and built the first city here) then black that were brought in as slaves sold by their own people in Africa. So yes the Spanish culture rules here cuz they built this society, the 16% white Dominicans rule so the statues are white looking, do you want them black? ( ask the black Dominicans to do something to earn a statue) , the mixed race are the middle class and the black... well.. the victims as usual.
@@ernextoho. at some point there were African people there first. Your people came from us. I don’t know the history but most likelly the Haitians killed whole towns to defend themselves from people with the same attitude you have except your worse because you hate part of yourself!

As an African and Ugandan who visited the Dominican Republic, I found our brothers and sisters who are the majority in that country to be very ignorant of their African roots and many are totally brainwashed and hate their blackness. I am so happy to hear this young lady breaking those stereotypes engrained in our sisters and brothers in the Dominican Republic.
She is not braking any stereotype. She placed herself in a county where she is viewed as White. Dominican men wouldn’t give her a second look. Dominican men have children with several of their women at the same time. The women are much younger and pretty. Some Dominican men have 10 to 15 or more children. The children sometimes do not know all their siblings, similar to what happens in the Black communities. However, this Dominican woman is a beneficial of “One eye man is king in blind man country.”
Me too I peeped it when she said " I brought my friend to DR and they thought he was from the DR and they thought I was from some exotic place". Insinuating that exotic is pertaining to light skin only.
You're insecure. Like she said, most Dominicans are black or mulatto so they would assume she is a tourist as white Dominicans only make up 13% of the population

That you where racist to light skin and white skin Dominicans. And more importantly of all that you contributed with the rest of us including the Spaniards in the act of stealing the island from the Tainos and wiping them out of existence. Yeah you're so innocent. Boo hoo. Why don't you go cry to the countries your government trusted and in return robbed your country of it's gold, devalued your currency and destabilized your country and got your government shut down. Go cry to France, Canada and the US.
Oshay you are wrong, she may be a nice lady but when her racist brothers and sisters chose to come to the continent, they will treat Africans like they treat the Haitians
Africa has 1.5B people vs. Haiti 11M , even if you factor in the mixed-arab countries of North Africa, bp are the majority. I came up in the Bronx in the 90s and 2000s as a Black American. It was a bit of a mixed bag when it came to Dominicans. When I first moved to the Bronx from down south, my Boricua friends used to always tell me how racist Dominicans were, but I straight up had Dominican friends from jump so I didn't really notice any racism until a couple years later when I was a part of this multicultural smart/nerd group at school and this one girl, who wasn't even that bright, was mad standoffish with just me and the other Black kids in the group for like no reason. And she was downright nasty (attitude wise) at times in hindsight. They deny their African root because Africa is not successful but the moment they see Africa is being successful, they will even claim it more the original people. They should be ashamed of themselves
My other question is knowing the history of colonizers in Africa, why should she advertise if she is genuinely coming to enjoy her life. The only people who she is advertising to are people that look like her. When has advertising ever helped Africa. its different If a black person is doing it because you are calling your brothers and sisters. When other people who are white and slightly not white see this, they will come. Come on now. She clearly has never suffered on this earth - and she understands she can move from place to place without problems because of her complexion. and she and women who look. like her understand that black men will rollout the red carpet for her before they do for a darker skinned woman especially if they are whitestruck. SO yes clearly she has access to everything. Also the children of the soil have not had a chance to enjoy our land because of our history clearly, and now we are about to allow others to waltz in. But what is the point of mfs that are not Dominicans telling what they are? What do you get out of that. Is like you begging them to accept you. That comes up weird coming from a grown ass man. like what you care about that. I would of responded the same. Yeah I’m dominican wassup what you trying to do? Simple stop with these feminine behavior
Well wouldn't you be angry if a stranger you don't look like tries to tell you who they are? The nerve to call a triracial person just "black" would be insulting.
I know Africans & Dominicans that will say theyre not black and i know what they mean by that . Most countries outside the US don't identify by skin color rather by where they are from. When you hear someone say they are not black what they mean is theyre not African American.
They don't see or look at themselves how wrong they are. Mentioning people's skin colour all time and not expecting consequences of that. Colour is not uniform all same colour black. This black■■■■
Well said. Skin color is the last thing in our minds. We go by tribe within our nation,by nationality within the continent then by Continent internationally. Whole black thing as a way to identify ourselves is new or unheard of by some in Africa.

Black is an African American term. It only applies to them. Shallow.

The hate there is deeply rooted, and I don't think it can be changed in this lifetime.

*Edit to Add:* When you said the "bypass racism" part it reminded me of some Americans of Indian descent that I know of who oftentimes engage in anti-Black racism to get a better seat at the table of white supremacy.
I've had the misfortune of talking to enough racist white people to know that the people that those specific Indian and Dominican anti-Black racists are trying to be a part of... they don't like them either 🤣🤣🤣
Nephew Oshay , as you may know , I have been a NYC math teacher in the boogie down South Bronx for over 25 years & one of those years were spent in Washington Heights . My students are very diverse & I have taught many Dominicans , PR , Mexicans, Ecuadorans , Bangladesh, etc.,
Wow you are still there now?
Back then I have everyone the benefit of the doubt and kind of dismissed things that were obviously racism as "just no big deal" 🤦🏾♂️
There was another incident, at my first job that Summer between freshman & sophomore years in HS where this one Dominican cat whose nickname was literally Africa because he was a real darkskin, and he lovingly embraced the name. One day someone called him "Black" or "Moreno" or something. Idk if it was by accident or intentionally. Seriously or jokingly, but Africa legit lost it and tried to rip dude's head off. So that level of self hatred, internalized racism and anti-Blackness was deeply rooted in him.
A little later on in life my ex's white mother was messing with this Dominican guy that *definitely* didn't like me. He'd tell her isht like "Black people will kill you in your sleep" and all types of other bs. Happy to say she kicked him to the curb over that 🤣🤣🤣

There is a rumour that Dominicans don't consider themselves Black so I'm a little curious if there is any truth to the rumour why would they want to be in Africa?
Exploitation/hidden agenda
It is NOT a rumour. It is absolutely true.
They deny their African root because Africa is not successful but the moment they see Africa is being successful, they will even claim it more the original people. They should be ashamed of themselves
There are two places called Dominica in the Caribbean one is Dominican Republic and the other is The Commonwealth of Dominica.
I was confused at first when i saw the name im from the Caribbean to 🇹🇹
Dominica is a Black island
Other races stay in their spaces. Why do they always come into black spaces. Jouanita some things you need to advise Oshay because this is going to backfire in the future.
I TOTALLY agree. As a race we cannot live amongst Whites, or any non-black groups and this includes mulattos. We're too easily dominated, subjected to discrimination and exploited by any group we allow around us. Just the mere presence of people who look like her is enough to cause conflict and instability in black environments.

You can't tell someone what to be offended or not to be offended about, especially after you explain what it means and they STILL find it offensive, and in comes that CLASSIC African arrogance trying to force their beliefs.
@Silverbackugx Wrong.....That's not arrogance. The man is simply tell you, how the locals see white folks. That's their own country, and they should talk how they want to.
