  • Scottish League Cup sectional tie, Dens Park, Dundee, 19th August 1967.
Bobby Howitt's young Motherwell side faced a strong Dundee team managed by Bobby Ancell, Howitt's predecessor in the Fir Park hot seat. George McLean opened the scoring for the Dees, before Billy Campbell (a future Motherwell player, then Assistant Manager to Bobby Watson) added a second. Bobby Campbell netted a late consolation for the Steelmen.
Dundee made it all the way to the Final, where they lost out 5-3 to Celtic.
Oh, and look out for Dundee's no.8, Jim McLean. Yes, THAT Jim McLean.

I am Bobby Ancell's youngest grandson. I was 2 when he died - really sad that I did not get to properly speak to him - always heard great words about him though.

He managed both these sides and also played for Dundee.
