I wonder how many Euro trainers were left thinking we have a few that should be able to handle this one, although he does seem to have improved for the step up in trip..
Yes there are better horses going around in Europe than this boy but he's a proven traveller and has performed at the highest level in Ireland and Uk plus won a prestigious Gr1 in USA
Anamoe - dead set unlucky in the Blue Diamond, Golden Slipper and Cox Plate. Should've won all three of those. Leader's bias cost it the Golden Rose. With any amount of a bit more luck, we would be talking about it as the best 2 and 3 year old ever. It is a seriously underrated horse. Should've had a CV of Blue Diamond, Golden Slipper, Golden Rose, Caulfield Guineas and Cox Plate.
Excellent ride by Allen. What a game performance the last 1/2f, especially considering he was carrying the extra 7kg which is over a stone! Anamoe had every chance to get past if good enough imo.
It was excellent how he polaxed the 4th horse and wrecked its run And excellent how his horse was tiring and shifted in and ruined the second horses run Forever a question mark
@@leftfield5914 the 4th horse was running backwards from the turn in, had no chance of winning. Anamoe had most of the straight and a stone less on his back to get there and couldn’t. An excellent ride because he settled State Of Rest perfectly, kicked through the gap when it appeared and was strong as an Ox in the finish. Best horse won.
Anamoe is technically still a 2 year old until mid November and it was a WFA race . The NH 3 year olds are 8 months older , a human comparison would be a 19 year old to a 14 year old so the weight concession was justified . Once Horses reach 4 years old they are considered fully developed, ie , adults and they carry the same weight in weight for age contests except for Mares which receive an allowance from entires and geldings. Different nations may the WFA scale slightly.
I know Zaaki was scratched but we used to have much bigger fields than this in the Cox, not sure what has happened…..experts on Channel 7 were saying should’ve been upheld!
It says a lot about the depth of the category in Australian racing. Although there are a couple that are in Sydney for the Golden Eagles that otherwise would have been in the Cox Plate.
I've found that some Euros find the ground here to their liking a grow a leg. We've also seen some well credentialed flop over here too. I think generally, the middle distance Euro horses are better than ours. But our sprinters kick your arse.
What about its Group 2 Champagne Stakes placing at Doncaster or not to mention it's Saratoga Derby Invitational win. It's not a champion but you're having a giggle by making out it's not very very very good horse
Disagree. Very minor interference and the margin was a half head. Maybe if it was a nose it'd have been upheld. I wasn't on either but I said it's dismissed straight away
I honestly don't know how the protest isn't upheld. Anamoe gets a shove while clearly having the run to get past State Of Rest, is held up and dragged a good 3 metres inwards robbing him of his mometum while pushing him to the more cut up rail turf and on top of that Craig Williams has to steady Anamoe up and can't use his whip for about 50m. Loses by a half head and is in front of him a bound later? I'm sorry but that's absolute robbery. Every horse is entitled to a fair, unimpeded run to the line and Anamoe did not get that. As a fan of good racing, if the shoe was on the other foot I'd be just as livid at the call, this is nothing short of absolutely disgraceful stewardship.
Great ride by both riders,my opinion on the protest is the stewards got it wrong,Williams horse was denied a straight run to the line, the Irish horse clearly lugs in about 10 ft,don’t think the brush was that problematic for Williams, albeit there’s 1 shot that shows his horse loose a little momentum,it was all small interference but all added up ,protest upheld, special mention to Simple Elegant, what a great run, probably better then both the other horses…
@@Writeowl yer bruva, don’t know where I got Simple Ellegant from, been on a great run this last 2 months, came crashing down this weekend.Good punting mate..
State of Rest is 6 months older that's a complete spell and campaign advantage. Considering it was Anamoe's first time at the distance with the protest possibly being upheld the weight advantage was justified.
@@Wo0dSyy State Of Rest actually has less racecourse experience. 7kg (just over 15lbs) is a hell of a weight allowance between two horses only separated by 7 month.
