I’m a sound technician who moved to Denmark from the US during Covid. I worked for a large events and festival company for a year here. Outdoor festivals here beat anything in my home town New York
Concert venues I can recommend outside of Copenhagen is Gimle in Roskilde, an old water tank converted into a concert venue. with bar/restaurant. Also in Roskilde, Roskilde congress centre, where big shows, concerts in collaboration with Gimle, sports etc. another place is Portalen in Greve/Hundige. right next to Hundige station (S-Train), also next to the shopping center Waves.
Amager Bio gave me my biggest musical experience ever when i saw Jeff Beck there some 5-6 years ago. What he did with a guitar was beyond this world.
My favourite venue in Cph has always been Alice, they are rehoused for the time being because of a renovation job that isn't working out for them, but when they return sometime next year, go there at Nørre Alle 7.
Feel like visiting a great venue on the outskirts of Cph, come to Gimle in Roskilde.
And don't forget our festival here in Roskilde, the first weekend of July. :)
For years Danish restaurant "Montmartre" was the Center of American jazz, and major names came over and some stayed (some also died here. Assistens Kirkegård). Even a film about a musician in Paris ("After midnight"), had "Montmartre" as the set used in the film.
DR Koncerthuset main hall is the best place in Copenhagen, best sound in Northern Europe and incredibly beautiful architecture - last time I saw George Thorogood in August 2022. By the way, there is also the Wolf Valley in Dyrehaven, where Ragnarok will be performed this summer - you just have to go!
Back in my younger days there were a lot of great concerts in Saga, Carlton, Pumpehuset, Saltlageret (The Planetarium today), Falkoner Theatre, Forum, Brøndby Hallen, Alexandra and Valby Hallen. Once got around to a smaller place. Sweet Charity I think it was called. Concert with a band called The Charlies. The guitarist were phenomenal. 10-15 people showed up. The guitarist welcomed me and thanked me for showing up 😆

It's been a long time since i did vent to live concerts. The second last time were in "Skovdalen" in Aalborg in 2017, where Runrig did play. But i didn't went to their final world tour in 2018 'cause of sickness. But i did went to Kim Larsen's last concert the same place in 2018, just a few month before he died.
About Vega…, they found the remains of Struensee, 100 years after his horrific execution right where Vega is sitting now. That’s why they have a special Struensee room at the Vega venue.
Den Fynske landsby in Odense is a fantastic place for outdoors concerts during the summer
We once saw a concert with Nephew in Jyske Bank Arena in Odense. It was a great concert, and a good place to go to a concert. There is a hotel attached to the arena. So you can book into the hotel and walk to the arena in 2 minutes. If you live far from Odense. The hotel was fine also.

I like Amager Bio, not because of the music (not a rock fan) but because I can get on the guest list.
Pumpehuset and Amager Bio are definitely my personal favourite. Pumpehuset is smaller and really fits the rock/metal shows I love going to. Amager Bio is great for the less heavy bands, plus the view from the balcony is awesome! And the remodel of that venue has made suuuuch a difference, it felt so much more grimey before.
Pumpehuset is definitely nice! Very unique vibe, been a few times.
Idno man, Heilung in amager bio was great, and Danish Metal Awards, for about +10-15 years ago, was also really great
Nice info about scenes, I have been on most of them, but didn't knew Hotel Cecil. I am going to see Madonna in Royal Arena (expensive).
I understand that you cannot do a complete list but I really think you are missing Pumpehuset, Loppen and Huset.
Amager Bio have a little sibling called Zebu. It is right next to it but technically a seperate scene.
there are a few places where you can listen to live jazz. (Galatheakroen comes to mind)
I want to see the twenty minute versions please :-) My favourite places are Store Vega, Ideal Bar, Pumpehuset, Amager Bio, Den Grå Hal and Loppen. The best outside music event is Roskilde Festival
Regarding venues outside CPH, the two best venues in Odense in my oppinion are: "Dexter" and "Posten". Dexter is very much a small indie stage heavily focussed on blues/jazz whereas Posten has a much more varied and mainstream program - although they also support niche and/or local music.
I would also like to mention "Godset" in Kolding if you ever come back to visit Koldinghus. They have a great venue and they are surprisingly good at organizing a varied but excellent offer of concerts.
Posten is a cool place. Saw Airbourne there some years back and slept in the back of my van at a nearby parkinglot. After the show I ended up on a binge with two guys who looked like Terrence Hill and Bud Spencer! I will never forget that night out! LOL
Check out Nashville Nights Festival in Odense in September. Too, multiple Nashville-concerts around Denmark in May 🤩
Yeah I saw a couple of the artists will be in Søborg. I may try to go to that show.
There is also a really good scene for classical music in Copenhagen. And there is also a small jazz scene - Montmartre, for example. and Copenhagen Jazz Festival. :D
smaller venues are best IMO... never liked the stadium experience... but I love music festivals... I have seen in excess of 500 concerts in my lifetime... I forgot more shows than most have seen! LOL
23 yrs in a row at roskilde festival is one of my proudest acheivements.... thats 23 weeks of being drunk and happy while listening to live music! LOL
I love the long videos… you Van make a clips Channel with shorter versions, many youtubers do that
Heartland festival at Egeskov close to Svendborg in June (2023: Robbie Williams, Sting, Andreas Odbjerg, Mø, Nik&Jay, Minds of 99 among a lot of others) - worth visiting.

Coming from Aalborg I can highly recommend: Skråen, Studenterhuset, 1000fryd and Abzalon Event Factory.
And in Aarhus you might wanna check out Train or Voxhall:)
Someone I like is at Voxhall in June. Unfortunately I can’t make it. I’ll get there one day!
Haven't been going out much since 2020 due to covid. My favorite venue in the past was VEGA. I have watched and talked to many great artists there from all over the world including the US.
Back to the future,,. Nice info, maybe this "jyde" wanna go check'm out. last concert i saw in KBH was Stones in Parken.

Not gonna mention the out door spaces that sometimes gets converted to a concert field :)
Svendborg, Kammerateriet the old shipyward hall, mostly because its local,
the small place Haarders is a great little spot, been there like 40 people see the Blue Van, if you see a band you like this is the place to get right up on stage with them.
Odense: Posten is the best, one of my if not the favourite in DK. Dexter is for Jazz and sometimes other stuff only been once, but nice., going again this next month. Kansas City, is for upcoming and cover bands, everybody is friendly its not Royal Arena prices.
Odeon is Odenses version of Royal Arena, good place, but expensive.
Århus: the Train, lovely place.
Kolding: Godset, nice little venue you get close to the performers and just nice.
Cph: Store Vega, Falconer, K.B. Hallen, even Royal Arena all good places.
Anyone have info on where small diy/local bands play? Would love to know the smaller local music venues.
In Copenhagen I'll just love vega, seen Jason isbell and the 400 unit, billy strings, and going to see Zach Bryan on 30 april, amarger bio I'm going to see Chris Isaak later this summer , outside Copenhagen I will definitely recommend "Posten" and Dexter ,and Magasinet in Odense, btw all 3 Venues will be part of the Nashville songwriter's festival in september ,and in Kolding there's a place called Godset

Was at Hotel Cecil for the 1st time last year. Loved the place, are going for more concerts there.
I've been to a few concerts at amager bio(smaller venue is beta), but loved most. Only one time was a bad experience because of a few audience.
Vega is great, but expensive. Lille Vega is best for metal concerts, because it gets so intense.
Favourite place is Gimle in Roskilde, mostly because I've been a volunteer there for 12½ year, and its closer. And it has some of the same big names as Vega has. Used to be an Water Plant
I finally went to Gimle last fall and saw Marty Stuart, great show! That is the poster hanging to my left in the video :). I do want to go back as the venue was nice and the crowd was respectful and fun!

I really wish I knew it when queen was in Denmark I LOVE them ( almost as much as Michael Jackson ) I’ve seen Elton John a few times in Royal arena he’s amazing ❤❤ and my husband and I are going to se Michael Bubble in Marts. I didn’t get tickets to Thomas Helmig in Royal arena so I hope to see him in Holbæk this summer.

Complaining about Danish concert prices? I was in NY 4 or 5 years ago and thought it would be just fantastic to experience Billy Joel in MSG - but $ 248,00 was a bit on the high side so I decide no - only to regret in the plane going home 'cause it probably was a once in a lifetime chance
Anyway, I was going to inform you that the Copenhagen opera House is also a great venue - had the exquisite pleasure of experiencing Jethro Tull there some time ago

if you're into punk and metal, I can recommend Ungdomshuset at Dortheavej 61 KBH...
the entrance is usually donation-based... it can vary from 15 Danish kroner to 50 depending on whether it is one or two small bands or a two-day festival...
the only down side is if you are a meat eater... you will have to bring your own food as it is a vegetarian place... and the only place nearby that sells food is a gas station that closes early....

There is on musik artist the band is called SAVEUS you should try his musik out of you want to.His is Danish but he plays in english
Funny story, when we were in Aarhus in November to visit Rosenholm, we stayed at the same hotel as Saveus. We left at the same time the morning he had a show - and he and his crew all really liked Brisket. Nice folks! I listened to him during our drive back to CPH. Good music!
If you make a version 3 of this video, would you be so kind as to pronounce all the places in English, so that it will be a little easier for us Danes to understand and recognize the places you mention, e.g. the Gray hall.
In Copenhagen there's also Refshaleøen. Outside of Copenhagen Horsens Statsfængsel.
They have been locked up there. It's even on video here. 😁

DR Koncerhuset sounds good, I agee. But I also remember that it did cost 1.4 billion kroner or around $ 200.000.000 of Danish taxpayer money to build, at that price It better sound good 😊Thanks for the video 🥰

Hey guys.you complain about a 1000 kr ticket prices...try Springsteen in the states....tickets run over here at 600 USD for medium ok and for the crap tickets approx 200 USD....now that is expensive. I don't think charge those prices in DK as far as I remember unless you sit on his lap lol. Btw Horsens has good venues now and then. ;)
I was at the last show in KB hallen before it burned down. Kinda glad it did cause the sound was sh*t
