The reason Purdy doesn’t have to scramble as much as Allen or Mahomes or Jackson is, he’s already gone through his reads and thrown the ball accurately on time. We’ve seen that he can run, he ran in for a touchdown against the Bucs in his first start. He had a long scramble for a first down in the first game of the season against Pittsburgh. He had three runs in the NFC Championship game. But most of the time he stays in the pocket and finds his receivers. If I was a WR, I’d much rather play with Brock than some of these other guys. At least you know you have a fair chance you will get the ball.
Purdy also has a worse oline than Mahomes, Jackson and Allen. No one talks about that nor do they talk about the fact that he’s only a been playing for 1 1/2 years. It’s so annoying. lol
@@DurzoBlint14Their run game blocking is decent(and above average on the left side especially with Kyle Juscyk as full back helping out with Trent on that side). However their Pass protection is something like 23-26th in the league (depending on what metric you are using) where the right side is especially prone to collapsing against the pass rush. It’s the run blocking that puts the overall blocking at 15th but their pass blocking is utter trash. Purdy is actually quite elusive and gets the ball out faster than most quarterbacks in the league that allows him to play under the such a line.
The bizarre thing about Purdy is he had no offseason due to his injury. His arm wasn't right till weeks into the season and he has improved from last season, so he has never had an offseason with the starters to practice with. There is also tape on him and he still is having great success. As a Cardinals fan, it will suck to face them twice a year, but he really is a special talent. His line is not very good at pass protection besides Williams and he takes shots down the field when he could settle. Kurt did a good video breaking down his tape recently debunking the myth that he is a check-down machine and it just seems people want him to fail because he started getting more praise than they liked. I do believe it is fair to compare him to other great quarterbacks early in their careers because his numbers and win-loss column support that a lot of scouts were wrong about him and he very well could be a top 5 quarterback in the league. Joe Burrow and Patrick had loaded offensive teams and never got knocked for it. The Chiefs were great before Mahomes with just Alex Smith and the Bengals loaded up on young, excellent offensive talent to propel them into the Super Bowl. No "game-managing" quarterback can do what he does and it is a knock to label him as such because he elevates that talented team to a true contender.
Issue with what Dan O is saying is that Brock, in a NFC conference game put the team in his back when his defense let the other team score 30+. That said, how many times did other QBs do that this year? Its a team sport, they just keep making scenarios up to move goalpost for Brock. Its getting ridiculous at this point
Dan talks a lot but how far did he go? I don't remember his name in the playoffs or ever a SB. I like him but over analyzing and creating split hair opinions that are not provable at all are total bullsh*t to keep his ESPN bosses happy.
Yea like when Jimmy got there with this team the defense wasn't allowing anyone to score over 20. The defense gave up 20+ a LOT this year. Purdy has had to lead the offense to more points to get these wins
He’s actually already proved that when things aren’t ideal he can win. SF has had one of the worst pass blocking offensive lines this entire season. And for the last two months they have had a bad defense. Both those things are not ideal. And he’s won anyway.

Maybe a bad comparison but I'll try. Many of the coach potatoes find it easy to work backward - oh Brock made that throw, I can do it too. But they don't know the pre snap read, the timing, the footwork, the elimination of a side of the field, the holes in the Defense. They look at the result and think they can duplicate it, but ignore all the work that leads up to that moment. And I dare to say, many QBs can "make a throw," but the decision to arrive to that throw I think, is what separate the mentally sharp, elite QBs from the mid-tiers ones. Hence, Brock is already in elite company because he can process those information in a extremely high, and pressurized situation.
Very well articulated sir that's why I find it ludicrous when people say that you could put other quarterbacks like Josh Allen or Patrick Mahomes in San Francisco offense, and they would be even better. Every QB mental processing is not the same pre and post Snap.
Not a bad comparison and I totally agree. As JT O'Sullivan of QB School has pointed out, it's easy to make comments with a marker and a rewind button after the game has been played. But QBs have to process the field and make decisions in seconds with pressure breathing down their necks. Add to that how defenses like to switch to different coverages post snap

The thing for me is that Brock is the smallest contract in the league(.36% of the cap) and has the best supporting cast of any roster in at least 5 years. SF also, with this amazing skill player group, threw the ball the least in the NFL. I get it, it's because they have a great RB and scheme but that will still be held against him. He was dropped into a LOADED roster that they perfected while Garoppolo was there. Who, by the way, took over a 1-10 team(won all 5 remaining games with 0 time to learn the playbook while throwing to Goodwin+Garcon) and was then given a hefty contract, making it tougher to build a team around him. And was constantly hurt and still made 2 NFCCGs. Purdy is probably the better QB long term but until he gets a 2nd contract and his cap hit rises to 10-14%, there will be a LOT of doubters. I mean, people were still refusing to call Brady the goat until he got his 5th or 6th ring and a 28-3 super bowl comeback with 15 years as a starter and a bunch of previous hardware lol. Not from the legacy media folks he doesn't. It's all about the things he wouldn't be able to do without being on this team. How many titles did Lebron win without multiple other starts on his team? He left Cleveland because he needed Dwade and Bosch. His teams were barely above average as the stand-alone star. What happened after Dwade and Bosch left? They drifted back down towards mediocre, not elite anymore.
I love how Dan Orlovsky said "Fans watch at home and say I can do that." I bet Dan thinks that too because he managed to play in the NFL even though he sucked for almost the entire time he was in the NFL.

You just don't know and you want to crown him the greatest NOW You want to call this team a dynasty so quickly.
Brock is just an average systematic QB carried by future hall of fame playmakers. Even Zach Wilson can reach the Super Bowl with this loaded SF team. Stop hyping him up like he's the next Joe Montana.

Steph took so much flak - Im a Curry fan and it was never good enough, that is why he cried after the 4 Finals win. He kept sayng "What are they gonna say now?" Are you kidding? CURRY WAS BAD MOUTHED DISRESPECTED ALL OVER THE PLACE. YOU APPARENTLY HAVE NOT FOLLOWED HIS CAREER.
@@UnderstandingBitcoin There were more HATERS OF CURRY THAN THOSE OTHER WARRIOR FANS WILLING TO GIVE HIM ALL THE CREDIT. ARE YOU KIDDING??? TOOK YEARS FOR PEOPLE TO NOT SAY THAT KD WON THE 2 CHAMPIONSHIPS THEY WON TOGETHER. YOU ARE NOT A CURRY FAN.......... CUZ YOU WOULD KNOW WHAT STEPH WENT THROUGH TO FINALLY GET FULL CREDIT. HE HAD TO WIN RING #4 AND GET THE FINALS MVP FOR CRITICS TO GET OFF HIS BACK. YOU SURE DON'T HAVE YOUR INFO RIGHT.
this idea of brock being a product of his system is silly. if i am coaching a figure skater and train them to speed intona triple lutz and then use that momentum to transition immediately into a triple toe, that's the system i designed, but you need a monster of a skater to execute it. it's not like brock is being asked to dink and dunk, he is tasked with threading needles and throwing to receivers in stride.
Kurt's a smart guy
Seriously tho, Dan if you are just jealous of Brock just say it man. We know you don't have a sniff of the talent that Brock has
Brock is showing his critics that he is the real deal. His MVP performance this Sunday will prove it.
49ers - 27
Chiefs - 20
Purdy - MVP
Hey Listen to this Pat and Kurt ..... Here is a guy Waiting to be Drafted in the NFL in 2022 Brock Purdy He asked who was the last pick number 262 ....It's me ...WOW picked by the 49ers Maybe this year i will win the SUPER BOWL 58 Watch out KC IT MAY JUST HAPPEN......
Lol Kurt Warner's basically just saying to them "let him cook"
He had 1200 rushing yards in his career at Iowa state
Dan O, Skip, Nick, Cam, Shady are like what does Kurt know🧐
Brock gets PLENTY of credit, c'mon now, he even had the shortest MVP odds towards the end of the season.
Brick Purdy, could not get it done when it counts. Three point drives, Mahomes gets 7
Pretty rude at the end that they started to talk over a legend while he was trying to make a point.
Dude said Brady wasn’t good until year 4 or 5 when he won a SB in his second year?
Are things good around him? To me the defense looks completely porous and defensive coordinators are getting the better of Shanny in the first half of games. Doesn't sound like things are as rosy as your painting them Dan.
Look at the absolute size of that hat! Lmao
Dan was jealous because he was not as good as Purdy
I'm surprised NFL teams are not fighting over these Brock Purdy pundits for GM and HC jobs. They seem to know so much about QBs.
It is the same hate they put on Curry. He looks like the kid next door so he can't be that great. The media has a bias for guys like Lamar and LeBrom because they look like a great athlete. Same thing with Lincecum vs Kershaw.
We have gone from discriminating against fast black qb to discriminating against slow white qb.
tell nick to give up and use your flare
1:07 - “He doesn’t get credit for those things that - Unless you’re a Quarterback. Unless you know what’s going on - That he should get credit for”
COUGH COUGH NICK WRIGHT & COLIN COWHERD
The rest of his team make his QB look easy
RRRBODY LISTEN TO THE SUPER BOWL WINNER KURT WARNER
Hi
Takes a hall of famer to make the best analysis of a new old style QB.. Kurt himself had great players around him just like Purdy and like ALL the great ones. All these “ elites” like Lamar, Allen, Hurst, ect. But haven’t gotten invited to the big dance or raised a Throphy.. so what’s the difference with Purdy ??
We all know it's that leave it to beaver, good guy BS that people are taught to despise nowadays!
@@TommyHodge-i6v stop, idiot.
49ers need a new qb
Brock don’t give af in the nicest way.
Lmao. Dan even admits a large reason why he thinks Purdy isn't good is because people at home look at what he does and think "I can do that." The first thing he brings up to criticize Purdy is that he isn't flashy enough. What a terrible take. This is sports media btw. Just a joke
More claims that completely contradict the film and data Purdy has produced. Lol There really must be a lot of money to be earned by having completely false opinions on Brock Purdy. Hot takes, click bait, whatever it is, its apparant guys like Dan are not to be taken seriously
@@tengille true, alwasy remember that Jackass was a popular show
@therealtombrokaw. 😆
Cam Newton couldn’t make half the throws Purdy makes look easy 😂😂
When Purdy loses Trent they then have the worst oline in the league in which case I don’t think any qb in the league can win with in tough games.
All the top QBs are saying Purdy is top. Then all the bozos who don’t know keep doubting him. Lmao 😂
All the Njners need to win the sb game is get the ball to Deboo and Cmc that's all... I don't care who covering Deboo because no one can and no one can stop Cmc.. Is very dam simple logic..Our coach need to stop beating around the bushes..
Question for the Purdy haters. Would anyone of you expect a Nascar driver to be able to win the Cup with a shyt crew and a shyt car? If the answer is yes, you're just delusional. So why is this dude being held to that standard?
You don't need to have the best physical ability to be the best QB. People keep forgeting that and its konda embarrassing
Where did this Brock is not athletic talk come from? What plays has he made to where he did not look athletic? He isnt slow stumbing around on the field.
Everyone is or isn't who they are until they are or aren't.
You people move the goal post all the time.
Mahomes still has five more super bowls to catch Tom Brady.
He's young yes but everything has to go right in that franchise for the next 5 years for you to reach the super bowl.
And everything went right for the Chiefs And it doesn't hurt getting some calls from the refs.
Kermit may never win another super bowl again.
Brock might win five more.
You just don't know and you want to crown him the greatest NOW You want to call this team a dynasty so quickly.
Kurt was screwed over in New York and Arizona
MEOW
Brock is just an average systematic QB carried by future hall of fame playmakers. Even Zach Wilson can reach the Super Bowl with this loaded SF team. Stop hyping him up like he's the next Joe Montana.
I found another moron take everyone....
Pretty ironic you said Montana when he himself is also praising Purdy.
Lol is this comment a joke? Zach is not winning anything with this team.
That argument was debunked last year when Purdy went down in the NFC championship and Josh Johnston stepped in and looked completely overwhelmed. People like you would also be saying the same thing about Joe Montana if he was playing today.
Cho bakka to omoimasu.
No Dummy. All The weapons around him makes it easy. Great RB, Great TE, Great WR. Very good OL, Including best LT in NFL and a great offensive mind.
Watch the games a little bit better….
@@leftyleon3447 I have watched every single 49ers game, I’m a huge 49ers fan. Brock is good but not great.
@@luckyluke1503 ok cool 😆..Can’t be swinging on Brock..P……Cause he Brock..P gonna be a legend…. STAY.TUNE..
@@leftyleon3447 I dont mind if he becomes legend at all. because that means multiple SB for my 49ers. I will gladly admit I was wrong.
@luckyluke1503 I've watched every single down Brock Purdy has played in the NFL. He makes his reads faster than anyone in the NFL, and he throws into tight windows. His pocket presence is phenomenal. Purdy is elite.
If it was Trey Lance with the same stats and wins as Brock Purdy this season for the Niners. All analyst would be saying hes next QB of the future, the same thing they are saying of Jordan Love on steroids for Lance...
